There have been many Slider Settings posted on this forum which I have tried and tested. Three stick out. First would be Amazing86er's. His settings are pretty good. However over a week or two period I'd find things wrong. The odd game would have 20+ runs scored, and no matter what it seems like the Red Sox, Yankees, and god only knows why but the Orioles were just impossible to pitch against.
The second settings I would recommend would be I believe edb123's (I'm not sure exactly because the thread was a lot of chatter back and forth). His settings were also well done, much better over the course of a franchise, however I found scores and hit totals much too low for both myself and the AI.
The third set I would recommend, and the one I currently use, were put out by SFGiantsPBA. These sliders are very realistic and the best for a baseball sim. Let me emphasize SIM. If you're looking for an arcade stlye (swinging at sliders in the dirt and putting them in the parking lot), these settings are not for you. I found a wide variety of games with his settings, some pitchers' duels, other's would turn into a slugfest, and some were just tight average scoring games. Players statistics stayed well within normal ranges over the season, and it was nice to pitch several good games with your staff ace and then have him give up 5 or 6 runs in 5 innings every now and then, or to have you're 4th or 5th starter pitch a gem.
Credit to all 3 for their hardwork (and apologies if I have the user names wrong), and I have posted the links to all three below:

thanks for the review Crosser 21, well done. Im just curious as to how many wildcards you have earned while playing with custom sliders? I seem to always win on pro and then on all star i can't hit or win, so im looking to use custom sliders but don't want to give up the greater chances of getting wild cards while playing on a preset setting. thanks again.

I've unlocked several wildcards, varies game to game. Just be patient with SFGiants settings, give it 10-15 games. In a 3-game set with the Red Sox using the Jay's I lost game 1 9-3 and received 2 wildcards, won game 2 6-4 and didn't unlock any, and then won game 3 3-2 in 11 innings and unlocked 4 (Most exciting game I've played thus far I might add). I've still been able to unlock a few player cards as well, even several platinum. Actually, for whatever reason I've found that using his settings most of the cards I unlocked have been gold with the rest being a pretty much even split between platinum and black. I'm not sure if anyone else has found this.

As far as wildcards go are you simply just trying to collect cards or are you trying to build a card team. If you want to build a team with certain players I'd suggest playing exhibition games with the teams that have the players you are looking for. Every now and then I'll step outside of Franchise mode and play a game here or there and I have a pretty solid lineup with platinums and golds. Just keep your pride and don't go cheating to get them by editing the computers stats to '0' like I see some people discussing in other threads. The great thing about the card feature in the game is that it offers a new challenge to keep things fresh rather than just playing with one team in a franchise.

Im definitely not trying to cheat, i just wanted to make sure it was possible to get wild cards because I rarely play with any other team than my franchise team and im trying to put together a card team. Getting a wild card is pretty exciting actually, a good feature. Im gonna try these sliders out today, thanks.

For anyone that is reading this thread for the first time you sincerely have to try these sliders (SFGiants). I just had another fantastic up and down game that I lost 5-4 in 11 innings using that Blue Jays playing the Yankees. I hit a homerun in the top of the 2nd with Thomas, then they came back with some small ball in the bottom of the second to make it 2-1. No scoring again until the top of the 5th when I drove a run in and then hit a two run shot with Lyle Overbay to make it a 4-2 game. In the bottom of the 6th Matsui hit a solo shot and they drove another run in with some more small ball to tie it at 4, not to mention I worked myself out of a bases loaded jam with only 1 out using the bullpen. I had a chance to end it in the top of the 10th but I stranded runners on 1st and 3rd and then in the bottom of the 11th Giambi got on base with 1 out and had someone pinchrun, whom I tired to keep at 1st but a pitch in the dirt bounced away from Zaun and he moved up to second (Scott Downs doesn't have very good compusure I've discovered). They then bunted to move the runner up and a shut up the hole between first and second ended it. If that's not realistic I don't know what is. Here's the box score from that game since I know a lot of people are interested in that:
___________RUNS____HITS____ERRORS______
Toronto...........4..........10...........1......
New York.........5..........11...........1.....
Homeruns: Thomas, Overbay, Matsui
Toronto Pitchers:
Halladay: 6.1 IP, 4 ER, 7 H, 4 K
Frasor: 3.2 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 3 K
Downs (Loss): 0.2 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 0 K
New York Pitchers:
Wang: 6.1 IP, 4 ER, 5 H, 4 K
Henn: 4.1 IP, 0 ER, 4 H, 0 K
Rivera (Win): 0.1 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 K
The one thing that I notice with these sliders his how much better each player plays like they do in real life. For example Roy Halladay is known as a ground ball pitcher and not a strikeout guy. Since changing to these sliders I've noticed overall my K's are down with him and he gets a lot of guys to ground out. I'll still have the odd game with him where he gets 10 K's, but not often. A.J. Burnett for example is a much better strikeout pitcher and that reflects in the game, as to does his inconsistentcy.
I'll stop ranting on about these sliders, but seriously anyone who hasn't must try these. Games aren't always this close, sometimes you'll still lose/win by more, but when you get in games like this it really puts this game on another level. Try em, and thanks to SFGiants for his hard work of 80+ games to find the PERFECT sliders.

There fantastic, and that guy doesn't know what he's talking about. I find a lot of people just don't know the game and don't understand that you can't put every pitch in the zone no matter how good it is, you have to mix it up (65% Strikes and 35% Balls is what you always hear in the Majors) just like you would in real life. I've been using these since Saturday and I've never enjoyed a baseball game more. Optimal level of challenge + realism. Hopefully the tech guys are reading this and take a look at these settings for online play.

Forgive my ignorance, but for the third slider set, I'm just a bit confused. For example:
Does "Batter Skill: 50 +
Batter Contact: 15 - "
Mean that I move the batter skill to the right 50 clicks, or does it stay in the middle? Just making sure....

Make sure you reset all sliders to default then start out on All Star after that move each slider + or - from default, blank means default and 0 means just turn it all the way off.

Played about five games today for the first time using SFG's Sliders and ive got to say it's like playing a whole new game. They are great. They really make the game more enjoyable, ive had a lot closer games and more fun overall as the game plays much more realistic and enjoyable. Ronnie if you could send a copy of these sliders to the developers as a base to use for 2K9 that would be much appreciated. I have one question and that is after you set the custom sliders and then wanted to go back and play a game on pro, you lose all of your custom sliders. They only way to retrieve them is to reload your last save that has the custom sliders. Is there any way to save these on the VIP or anything so that you don't lose your custom settings when changing back and forth from difficulties, thanks to everyone.

The third set I would recommend, and the one I currently use, were put out by SFGiantsPBA. These sliders are very realistic and the best for a baseball sim. Let me emphasize SIM.
By "SIM" do you mean we sim the season, opposed to play each game?
Are these sliders good if we're playing, and not "simming?"

I probably missed this and this will end up a silly question. But some friends and I want to start an on-line league. Does slider manipulation work for on-line play? If we all agree to using the same slider values, it should help even tho' allot of this is for AI, which won't be doing anything. But we are trying to get away from the large hit's and runs aspect that seems to happening in our warm-up tournament play. Would it help or not really do anything for this problem (it's just our skill, together with the lag aspect of on-line play. Especially problematic is how quick we can move the outfielders. And some infield 'dead zones').

ok thanks. I've used them in a few exhibition games and they create a real nice game. I actually had to play with some plate discipline and even drew a few walks. Great Job.

I've tried loading it when I started a new franchise but it still didn't work. I have it saved under my VIP profile and when ever I load it goes back to the default settings still.

Since this year 2k decided players didn't need to be able to save their Slider settings, you'll have to re-enter them when you start your franchise. They will save, however, when you save your Franchise.
This also means you can only have 1 set of custom sliders to work with. No experimentation with multiple set-ups to get the best results without having to spend dozens of tedious minutes entering and re-entering slider settings when you want to change. It wouldn't be so bad if 2k had given us numbered sliders, but they didn't do that, either.
This is one thing that has been bugging me about the game since I got it.

hey im not sure if i got this right but for ai throws strikes oberall, ahead and behind it has 0. that means all the way over to the left right? because with that set it just seems like i could put the controller down every ab and watch them throw 2 balls and then they serve a fastball right down the middle. other than this these sliders (sfgiants) are great and i definately plan on using them.

I don't really like the Pitch FX sliders. I can't figure this out in any way but I started a franchise with the detroit tigers using those sliders - I started the season 10-0 in a few close games but mostly 3-6 run wins everytime. So I thought this is too easy.
I will try a crappy team. SO I used the same sliders (exactly I checked 3-4 times to make sure) This time I used the Padres. I started the season 1 win and 9 losses. I thought this is ridiculous - so after checking sliders 3-4 times - I verified they are the same.
I have no clue how this disparity existed but I decided to try the SFG sliders next and just see what hapens. I'll let you know.

im sorry i was goin 2 post up the slider info for the legend difficulty but seems like i have encountered a glitch while editing them up i played a game earlier today against the padres the final score was san diego 3 yankees 5 i had 8 hits to san diegos 5 and i thought i found good sliders well tha certainley came to a end i played against the reds well lets just saty that this was a slaughter final score was cincinati 16 yankees 4 reds had 15 hits to my 5 hits the frustrating part was that they never swinged and missed i pitched out the zone and they just kept rocking it like 7 homeruns worth of hurting so i changed the power from 20 to 15 and contact from 35 to 30 played against them again but had the same results its like the game didnt recognize my customs at all i never had that since using custom sliders but overall i thing its the legend difficulty thats missed up so sorry 4 people anticipating those sliders but im sticking with SFG all star customs sorry people:(

try adjusting the cpu foul ball. creates more groundballs and routine fly balls the composure dynamic is what gets you shelled. If you give up back to back to back hits your composure usually plummets to 5 or even lower depending on whose on the mound.
I think a good set is gonna end up being All Star cuz theres certain things you can't toy with on Legend. Pitch Speed, Pitcher difficulty, TCP, Take Ball/ Strike just to name a few.
Its strange what stats are linked. Errors are strongly liked to TCP and Reaction is linked to virtually everything including Take Ball/Strike. Corner can't be low if Take Strike is raised.

Franchise with multiple drafted teams, I would draft play several games and redraft and or just make tons of trades so that I pitched different guys and batted different guys and did that for the 1st 80 games then I was able to just draft and stick with a team with few trades.
I was just saying that because you thought you had a set then played a game or 2 more and realized they were off.
You have to look for a balance of pitchers duels and blow outs, you must get shelled but also pitch gems.

Well learning total control pitching is not the problem. It's just that unless it goes to the first ring its a meat ball. I will stop it before the first ring intentionally to not put as much effort and energy into the pitch so i can get a better release and therefore more accuracy, and then i'll stop it in the circle, and then the whole circle will flash gold and it's a meatball. Do you know what i'm trying to say? I 've used the pitching control and gotten very good at it I just am not sure if that's gonna happen everytime or its something i'm doing wrong

First of all, kudos to those who put all the time and effort into making these guidelines.
One thing; the numbers on the "slide rule" represent per-cent, right? So in other words, if the suggested number for the slide says "60," I move my slider to the right about 60% all the way over?
Thanks. I played last night and it helped a little I (I hate 17-12 slugfests :thumbsdow ) and won 11-3. I hope I did it right, so I'll play again this afternoon and hope for a 2-1 game.

Well I have to give credit where credit is due. I just bought this game a few days ago and started up a Rays franchise. I have been playing on the Pro difficulty while crushing the computer almost every single game, with the exception of a few close games. So I decided to check to see if there were any good sliders out there I could use. I came across this thread and I inputted SFGiantsPBA's sliders into my franchise and just finished my first game with these sliders and it may have been the best game I've ever played on ANY baseball game....
I was playing the White Sox at home. My offense started hot very early as Longoria connected with a 2RBI double in the bottom of the 1st inning. I was up 2-0 through the first five innings. I had Garza on the mound and I was just dominating their lineup. Then the 6th inning comes around, and the Sox hit 3 solo HR's in the inning to go up 3-2. Garza was starting to get fatigued so I went to my bullpen. I was still trailing 3-2 bottom of the 8th when BJ Upton hit a solo HR out to left field to tie the game. The very next batter, Pena, singled, and then Longoria singled, then newly-acquired Ankiel would single out to right field which brought Pena around to score and put me back up 4-3 heading into the 9th. I had 2 outs when Crede hit a shot deep into center field all the way back to the warning track....BJ Upton with the catch for the 3rd out!!!!
I've only had this game for a few days but this was by far the best, most realistic game I've played so far. I just had to share it with everyone.
Some stats just for fun:
Hits: Rays-12, Sox-9
No Errors
Starting Pitchers:
CWS: Javier Vazquez 7IP, 8 hits, 4K, 2ER
TB: Matt Garza 6 1/3 IP, 9 hits, 7K, 3ER
CWS Notables:
Swisher 3-4, HR, RBI, Run
Thome 0-4
Konerko 1-4, HR, RBI, Run
Crede 2-4, HR, RBI, Run
Dye 0-4, 2 strikeouts
TB Notables:
Iwamura 3-4, Run
Crawford 0-4
Upton 3-4, RBI, 2 Runs
Pena 1-4, Run
Longoria 2-4, 2 RBI
Ankiel 2-4, RBI

Finally! REAL baseball!
I used the SFGiant slider, and it all seemed to help, but the AI kept mashing the ball in the gaps and over the fences, even with stellar pitching. The only thing I remember changing is moving the AI Batting Skill to the left (around 50) from 100. Since then, my scores have been 3-1, 2-4, 3-2 (extra innings!)
I almost got rid of the game, now I'll be playing all season long! :)

heeey i only played 1 game with SFGs sliders but it was on transfered to the wii... i found a couple things that werent in the wii version like foul ball frequencies... but o well, any other wii people have any comments?
it was my first game ever and it was pretty realistic, i was the Os and beat the Royals i think 3 to 2. i got walked 3 or 4 times and struck out 8 times. got about 4 or 5 hits and so did they. um... i struck out like 9 and walked just 1.
the thing is i noticed most pitches were around the corner, id say 99 porcent of the pitches were around the corners. cpu only pitched inside the strike zone down the middle on 3-0 pitches :S and my catcher ALWAYS asked for pitches around the corners. either way seemed pretty realistic overall :) gonna try a few more games in the future and ill comment more.
this comment is based on the wii version.
