2 player wii pitching

When using wii nunchucks, i can't select pitch types in two player (head-to-head) mode. When playing against the computer, it works fine. Any ideas about what I am doing wrong. Thanks!

When playing 2 player the pitch type doesn't highlight because it would tell your opponent what pitch is about to be thrown. You are still changing the pitch type by moving the joystick on the nunchuk.
