I am in absolute shock at how horrible the off-season has been designed this year. How can a company mess up this bad. I don't even know where to start.

I guess a good place to start is the DL bug and all the rosters (MLB, AAA, AA, A) being required to have 25 players... Keeping this in mind...

I advance to the off season. First strange thing I notice is the only way to access the re-sign players, well all of the off-season stuff (draft, FA's ect) is by changing to my A team and going to the calander and finding the option about 2 months ahead. I go about re-signing my players, no problems there aside from low rated players demanding crazy money so I let them walk. I advance to the draft, draft all my players nicely, everything goes well.

Now here is where the unbelievable problem comes in, I'm in shock at how horribly bad this is, sigh.

I go to advance to the FA signing period. I get a message saying "your line-up vs LHP W/ DH is incomplete, you must have a complete line-up to advance" Well I've had a bunch of people retire and did not re-sign most of these chumps demanding top dollars so I call up a bunch of people from my minor leagues to fill the holes.

I then go back to try to enter the FA period and of course the same message comes up for each one of my minor league teams. So eventually I've got everyone called up to my AAA and AA teams. This of course leaves a major hole for my A team, not having anywhere near the 25 player requirement.

I go to look through the franchise menu, because it is the offseason the only way to sign free agents is to access it from the calander. The only choice in order to advance and get all levels of my team to the 25 player requirement is to allow the CPU to fix the roster problem. 5 million dollars later! the CPU has signed a bunch of scrubs I assume and all 4 levels of my team now are at the 25 player roster requirement.

I go about signing a number of free agents to improve my team, all of them way overpaid I might add and finally advance to the new season.

Well now since all levels of my team MLB, AAA, AA, A are all at 25 player requirement there is no room for these newly signed free agents. The only way to get your roster back to the stupid 25 player minimum is to, you guessed it, release the scrubs the CPU made you sign in the first place, further taking hits on your salary.

So basically near 8 million in salary in the second season goes to a bunch of players I didn't want, or need in the first place.

I am truly shocked and dismayed that this could be missed. I would say with confidence, this game was released without being tested as even a monkey would have noticed this by advancing through one off-season.

I'm at a loss, I really don't know what to say about this except, WOW!

Discuss!!!

Wow, that is really crappy! I haven't played through an entire season yet, I'm not planning on officially starting my franchise with the Tribe until Monday (I like to play each game the same day as the actual Tribe games during the season). Now I'm a little scared about what's going to happen at the end of October when I get to the point you were just discussing. I did start a franchise with the Cubs just for fun to get some practice in before the season, and one "off-season" thing I wasn't happy with is the lack of spring training games!

Spring training serves multiple beneficiary purposes for every team in the league. Not only does it allow your younger players to play alongside the core players of your MLB team, but you can also fool around with your pitching rotation, bullpen, and lineups. I was upset to find that spring training is non-existent in this game, as it's been a staple of the MVP and The Show series before each season starts. I would have liked to have this option to see how well my younger players hit/pitch against veteran players across the league. Now we're stuck with brining a player up (if need be) without knowing how well they'll fit in with the rest of the lineup. This is ridiculous and needs to be addressed for next year. Having spring training stadiums would also be a major selling point for me for 2K9.

I have been through 3 off seasons now and I have not encountered this problem.

Has anyone else gone to the off-season? I'm wondering if I've done something wrong to cause this to happen?

I never had to have full 25-man rosters to advance to FA signing. The offseason was pretty smooth for me.

I havent gotten to the offseason yet, but i have had the same problem when trying to modify my minor league rosters. I tried to call up/send down players to put the better players from A to AA and visa versa. the game kept giving me an error that said that i had a bad lineup but it wouldnt let me goto the lineup screen to fix it. I let the computer do it and it messed everything up. no big deal, i hadnt saved, I figured i would just restart it and start over. So i finish everything up and accidentally put a player at DH instead of a position (so i now have 2 DH and no catchers) the game gives me an error, i realize what i did and want to go back to fix the problem. IT WONT LET ME CHANGE THE PLAYERS POSITIONS! THe game freezes and now i start all over again. I decided to forget the whole process and leave the minors alone. How can 2K sports keep sell a game for $60 bones and have so many issues with it!?! I cant play more than 2 games without it freezing up on me now. I am about fed up with it! I hope the patch fixes a few things. I see people complaining about slow bit rates, I would just like the game to execute without freezing in the middle and having to start over! I have played just over 30 games that have counted with another half dozen that have frozen in the middle of a game never to return. ARGGGG!
