Hello, all. I am new to the forum.
I just wanted a place to post these and see what people think. I realize the the developers probably will never see this thread. Anyway, I thought of a few areas that I believe could use some improvement for the next edition. Feedback, if you will.
1. Default sliders. They've improved, but it's still too easy for me to hit a home run with the best players. I played 25 games in franchise mode as the Cardinals, and Pujols had 17 home runs. That's too many. Also, the CPU seems to hit the corners with breaking pitches far too easily, and it's virtually impossible to draw a walk in the game. I would suggest basing it on the actual league averages of the 2008 MLB season. For instance, the best teams hit 200 homers in a season (sometimes more). That averages out to 1 or 2 per game. The 5 home run games should be a rarity.
2. The menus. I know there has to be a lot of negative feedback on the menus. I would suggest a complete revamping.
3. Franchise management. Setting lineups, I've encountered an occasional freeze glitch. That shouldn't be too hard to fix. But my biggest suggestion is in regards to the minor league teams. As it stands, you have 100 players in your control, and unless every team is set perfectly you can't continue. You could add an inactive roster list, or use the A team level and have no roster limits.
Secondly, callups and sendowns are too complicated, and often the players disappear from the screen. I would suggest putting some sort of "Player options" label, where you could assign a player to A, AA, AAA, or MLB without swapping them with another player. You'd have all 100 players listed on the same screen with their ratings, and you would go through and assign them to their respective levels. That way, you could choose which players and prospects go to which level, without swapping a guy to AAA, then to AA, then to A, and avoid the mess.
I'm sure there's plenty more, but I just felt the need to vent.
