I got the game yesterday, enjoyed myself last night playing 4 games cubs franchise, custom sliders spent about 30 minutes fixing em up, as well as the rosters, depth charts, etc. So I wake up start my franchise, and I do a home game against the washington nationals, the game freezes right before the opening pitch, I try pressing the big guide button in the middle, that wont come up, so I restart my 360, load the franchise, try again the same game, and this time I hit the guide button before the opening pitch, but as soon as I exited the 360 guide screen, it froze again at the opening pitch.
I restarted my 360, loaded franchise, simulated that game, and the next game it froze when trying to load, when it shows the fans walking around etc.
Restarted my 360, tried to load franchise and it says file is damaged....
So I made a new franchise same thing, froze first game in loading, file damaged.
Made 3 more franchises all had the same problem.
Everything worked great last night, and now Im pretty frustrated after paying 60 bucks, for 3 hours of gameplay that works. And now all I can do is anything but franchise, which gets pretty boring, and I don't know if anyone else has had this problem so maybe theres a little fix, please help.

I'd take it back and exchange it for another one. I have the game and I've never had that problem and played a lot of franchise games. sounds like the individual disk.

wow, that is a major problem.
take it back...you should still be able to exchange even with it open since you just bought it yesterday.

You think it is the disc? Because it looks fine, and it worked 100% yesterday, exhibitions and any other game modes work totally fine, but franchise is basically unplayable, Im thinking I might just clear all data in it, and remake my VIP and everything for it, totally delete all memory of the game and then see if it works after that, if not I guess I'll have to take it back, unless someone else has had this problem and knows a fix.

If the game is just simply NOT WORKING they BETTER replace it. if they didn't that'd be horse crap.

Ya, I think i'll go replace it, unless I find a solution to it before my friend comes back with my car, in 5 hours *sigh*. I had this problem with 2k7 before, franchise froze up a lot, exhibition was fine.

There any tricks or anything, do you sign out of VIP to stop the framerate issue. I did that and it still worked for 2 games, seemed like I got the problem after the last game last night, I signed out after the game had started, but unlike before where I would sign in right before it ended, I signed in at the franchise screen. And every time ive tried to play any games after that it wouldnt work. The weird thing is I tried a road game with the cubs and it worked, on a new season, but every home game froze, so I thought maybe its just wrigley field, but then I tried a season with Boston and didnt matter where I played it froze. And of course the file damaged, if it freezes during franchise, the file gets damaged. Do you think maybe if it froze and I waited a few minutes it would unfreeze, maybe just running the HD to hard, and freezes up I turn it off, and thats why the file gets damaged, I dunno, just thinking of anything for next 5 hours til I can exchange it.

To be honest...I have just been playing through the framerate issues without signing out. I've gotten used to it. I hardly notice it when I'm playing now.

If I had to choose I'd pick framerate issues over Re-doing the franchise over and over again. "I" spend a bunch of time "playing barbie dolls" is what my wife calls it when I'm finding players, setting lineups, signing free agents and that stuff. I like that part of the game too much to have to redo it 2 or 3 times.

Ya same here, well I just reset everything, cleared cache deleted my profile, so its brand new now, gonna try it with the framerate issues, plus once patch comes out it wont be a problem, so hopefully this fixes the freezes since its all reset, I spend so much time getting all my rosters and depth charts figured out, it was a pain spent all morning getting franchises going, heh, well lets hope this works

Its really not as bad as people make out on here with the framerate issues. Its still an awesome game

Try clearing your cache. Do you have an oldgen 360?

Ya it is awesome, I did an exhibition with the framerate, its really not bad, when your pitching and everything its not even there, just after the hit, and it doesnt really effect anything. I really love the game, personally I think its the best 2k baseball one. Unfortunately after redoing everything, clearing cache, etc etc. deleted my vip profile, i create a franchise and it freezes during loading... Well, I hope its just my disc. This happened with 2k7, it just froze during franchise and theres nothing I can do about it. I think maybe 2k should tone down the loading, it seems to put more strain on the system than the game itself, just having a screen showing sk logo or something with a little loading bar, it would go faster, and wouldnt have these problems.

Yes I cleared the cache, nothing changed, how would I know oldgen, its a refurbished one sent by microsoft since my last one got the rings of death, would that be oldgen 360?

Do you know anything else I can do Ronnie, it worked fine yesterday, I deleted all mlb 2k8 files, cleared cache, and it still freezes when its loading franchise, and franchise only games, and then it says file damaged when i restart my 360 and try to load it

I am trying to find the website that tells you whether your registration date falls under oldgen or newgen. If anyone else has it, kindly post it here. Thanks.

Does it make a difference? Is there certain fixes or something depending on old or newgen, also, it now freezes on everything, I cant even play exhibition, maybe its just franchise broken, and wrigley field in everything

I am coming more and more to the realization that the game has different gameplay with an oldgen system or the different DVD drives. That's why there's such a variance on freezes with so many users in the forum.

I would like to know that too? whats the diff. in the 2??

its gotta be the disk man...I haven't had that problem 1 time. my game works 100% fine.

So does that basically mean if mine is oldgen im screwed, because you can sometimes switch games for other ones of the same if yours just doesnt work, but if its because mine is oldgen that it freezes, then it wouldnt work no matter what, and they usually dont refund opened games. Does 2k have any fix? Cause plenty of people play oldgen, maybe even more than the people that play newgen, so now its like I cant buy a 2k game cause this always happens, I cant even play exhibition now, i played 4 games last night of franchise before it stopped working, and 4 games of exhibition today before it stopped working.

I don't think the game could make the files on the hard drive damaged, but I don't know, Im gonna try replace it anyways, but if the next one doesn't work, then 2k has a problem, because it means they dont make games to work on whatever gen my 360 is, which i think is old, only thing that makes sense. And I definitely am not dishing out 300 more dollars for newgen 360 just because 2k didn't make theire games right. I hope thats not the case though.

gotta be the disk... it never would've worked in the first place if that console couldn't handle it. ya know?
Cubswinsomeday
March 28th, 2008, 11:08 AM
Ya that does make sense, I'm gonna get a new disc regardless, can't hurt (as long as they let me at the store, I still got reciept and everything). If that doesnt work I dunno what I'll do, the new patch doesnt seem to have anything about freezing so I assume 2k doesnt know how to handle it, if its not just the specific disc.

they'll take it back if you're nice about it or maybe you can have them try it in the store to find out if its your 360 or the game.

March 28th, 2008, 11:18 AM
Ya thats a point, they could try it themselves, if I go when they aren't busy maybe they will be feeling nicer too.

I'm sure they'll take care of you. I'm not sure where you got it. but my local Gamestop has taken good care of me even if its because I just didn't like it, they would let me trade.

Ya, if it doesnt end up working, which it has to since the only thing it could be is the game, any suggestions on a different game? *shrug*

not really, Army of two was pretty cool with 2 people. not the best, but ok. denied opps was not the best game but it was pretty sweet in a wierd way. fifa 08 is sweet. Conan, Madden 08. thats about all I've played lately. All I'm going to play for a long time is this mlb 2k8. and fifa 08 because thats the only one I can get my wife to play.haha

Nice, ya I like fifa, and ea games always work on my system (wish they still made MVP baseball games for major leagues instead of college). I'd play 2k8 only if I could get it to work, guess I gotta wait for tonight when I can go change disc, since Ronnie didnt seem to find anything.

you know the baseball guy at 2k now WAS the head guy for MVP right. Brinkman is his name... thats why THIS game is getting to be tons better. This guy knows what he is doing, its just going to take him another year or two to get it completely the way he wants it.
Cubswinsomeday
March 28th, 2008, 02:34 PM
I didn't know that, well, no wonder, but I wish they had the workability of MVP, just get all the other staff and they are set, I never once had an issue with an MVP game.

I personally would E-Bay your xbox and put in a few dollars for a newer one. I never liked the sound of "referbished"....

I would if it had problems with other games, but this is the only game in which there wasnt some obvious issue with the disc like a gigantic scratch. Either way first Im gonna try a different copy see if anything changes
