I don't know what happen to this game, but the MLB the show beats it by miles.
The gameplay the character models the presentation was horrible this year.
Take in mine I own both systems and I was dissapointed with this year game.
I don't even think Visual Concepts made this game this year.
2k7 was a whole better than this game.

I'm very dissapointed.

Sorry to hear that man. I for one am on the other side of the fence. I love the game and its new features. Yes, the plaguing issues are frustrating at times, and will hopefully be fixed up with the patch. But honestly, I love the game...The new throwing meters ala MVP 05, and the new pitching interface are spot on! Great additions to the game.

Most reasonable folks agree with you, they might as well have sent out 2k7 with updated rosters and called it 2k8, you would have heard some complaints, but it wouldn't be as bad as the ROAR is now, that's for sure.

VC didn't make the game this year, or last year, or the year before that...Kush has made the game the past few years.

I think the gameplay has gotten better with the new mechanics in place, once you take the time to learn them.

Character models are the same, though the jersey textures looked to be of lower resolution when seen from afar.

Presentation is about the same as last year, with some additions and some subtractions. It is more choppy in replays, however.

Those are my opinions and you have yours. It's too bad that you're disappointed, but that's how it goes. No one can please everyone.

Don't get me wrong the pitching interface is cool, but the game in general sucks. I can't believe I can't believe Sony made a better baseball game than 2k.

It seems to me there are 2 sides to this. There are those that hate this game and think it plays terrible. Then there are those that love it and even call it one of the best BB games they have ever played. I am on that side of the fence as it does so many things right imo.

So who is right? Well everyone is entitled to an opinion so I will just try and logically figure out why so many have such differing views on this game. Number 1 thing I would like to mention though, I get nothing for loving 2k8, no money, no securities, no anything. My love for this game in no way is for any other reason than love of this game.

As for those that love this game, I can see why. The tcp control, the batting and fielding controls, both are great additions. Both are next gen gameplay. Proper slider adjustment makes this game sim and play better than any I have ever played. This to me is the most important thing and the reason why I love it so. I think this is the reason why many others love it also.
There are not many games, once you learn to play them, that will sneak up on you and stay competitive...or at least predictable. This game will bite you it seems no matter how good you are to a point. You will not get out of a bases loaded jam by just mashing buttons. You will not ever get comfortable with a one run lead and 2 outs in the ninth.

For those that hate it. I think many have not learned the new controls. Those that have and still hate it put emphasis on other things. The framerate is frustrating at times and can occasionally be bad enough to make you goof a play in the field. The play by play is not always accurate and can be repetitive. The stock sliders can make you pull your hair out. Its not as player friendly as other games, mainly the show. The show for instance can be picked up and played instantly by anyone.

viking12344 that was a great post. Both games have spectacular offerings and caters to 2 different type of audiences.

Let me just say for the record, that for weeks, I have said that both MLB games out on the market have their fair share of pros and cons...

For those that hate it. I think many have not learned the new controls.

I have no idea why this always seems to be people's "explanation" for why they don't like the new game. To me, the "total control pitching" doesn't seem as totally controllable as it's been advertised. Trust me, I still know how to make rapid and challenging moves with a controller (games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, for instance), but it just seemed to me like the "total control" was more like "hit or miss".

The show for instance can be picked up and played instantly by anyone.

And if you ask me, this is one of the better features of the game... not having to tinker with a vast amount of difficulty/presentation sliders is a good thing. And having downloadable sliders for people to share (online) is a HUGE bonus, as well.

Well, it is in my opinion, anyway. ;)

:dropping two cents:

this is the worst baseball game EVER. the pitchin thing is a joke. the laggiest game i have played. they focus too much on the things before an inning than fixing up the horrible gameplay. the only reason i got this is cause it is the only baseball game for 360. the show for ps2 is better .dont let the graphics fool you. don`t waste youre money, baseball is not 2k`s thing.

dissapointingly brutal
