Stealing bases?

Maybe I'm a complete idiot (certainly a possibility), but how do I attempt to steal a base in this game?

if you're usiing the 360, you hit Y and push the direction of the base you want to steal on the LS.

Along with what skippy said you can add a 2nd quick tap of the Y button which makes the runner take off on the pitcher's first movement...of course that means if pitcher throws over to 1st (or whatever base your runner is on) your runner will have broke for the next base due to having him start on the first movement.

i am also having trouble stealing second in the ps2 version, unless i switch to the baserunner mode.
