I understand that currently there is no way to update the Wii version of this game online. I have also read where 2k is aware of issues with the Wii version. What are the plans, if any, to correct these problems? Everything I have read in the forums pertains to the 360 and PS3. Thanks.

No games update for the Wii, i mean what do you expect? I own a Wii too but i would never buy a game like this for it, its just a bad idea.

A bad idea to buy a sports game for a system perfect for sports games? wtf?

Anyway it's not that it "can't" be done, it's that 2ksports didn't want to go to the trouble of finding a way to.

That's exactly what I was thinking, and by the non-response of those here that are in the "loop", I would say you are dead on with your comments. Here's a crazy thought: If online updates are not a possibility now or in the future, seems like the right thing to do would be replace the disc with a corrected version.

It would be nice to play 2 player on this game and be able to change my pitch. Is there something wrong? And before all you blow hard vidio snobs answer this with a sa answer, can I please just get the correct one. Why dosn't this work?

I believe you can still change the pitch type using the Nunchuk stick as in 1-player mode, but in 2-player mode it just doesn't show the pitch selection graphic on the screen, ostensibly so the other player doesn't benefit by knowing the pitch type...

Unfortunately it seems as if 360 and PS3 are more important to 2K8 than Wii and every time someone posts about the Wii, a 360/PS3 fanboy blurts out something retarded about the Wii being inferior.

Now we all know the Wii is not up to par with these other game systems, but we knew that when we bought it. We bought it for a unique game experience with the motion controls.

So what that being said, if you don't like the Wii then fine, keep it to yourself. This board isn't about Wii bashing, its about MLB 2k8. We should ALL be working together since WE ALL GOT SCREWED. And the Wii owners got the worst of it since apparently the Wii is the red headed stepchild.

If there is no way to update the MLB 2k8 for the Wii via network, SDcard or USB we should have the option to either return the game for a FULL refund or 2K8 should send us a new UPDATED disk fixing our issues.

thats all i have to say about thaaaat.

My thoughts exactly. I wonder if the Wiiware channel update in May will give the Wii the capability of d/l updates. I've read about pay to play games that will be available along with extra content that can be downloaded, so it seems that might become an outlet for patches, fixes, etc.. I really would like to hear from a mod or someone that has some current information about this.

As you guys have realized, we are kinda limited (short of releasing another CD - and I have not heard any plans of doing that) to provide roster updates, patches, etc. to the Wii until there is some sort of dl capacity. We apologize that Nintendo hasn't chose to go the way of the other consoles and released a function to download things.

Is there then a possibility of downloadable updates when Nintendo launches WiiWare in May?

We will put downloadable stuff on there if their is an option come May. I have not heard anything about WiiWare having a downloadable capacity, but that is also not my expertise.

OK, thanks for the reply. We can hope, can't we? ;)

I appreciate your honesty ronnie, even though that isn't the news I wanted to hear. At least we know where everything stands. My only hope is that those of us that are Wii owners are not forgotten about when the online option becomes available.

Two questions:
1. can the forum moderators make it possible to search for wii on here? You guys have it set to filter out all terms that are three letters or less, which is fine, but I think there is a function in the vBulletin system to define exceptions to that rule - wii is an important exception. I found this thread by searching nintendo, which luckily appeared just once, so because I cannot currently search for other threads that mention wii, I am forced to ask this next question here, in the only wii related thread I can find so far:

2. I played this game for the first time tonight and immediately noticed numerous graphical artifacts all over the screen. They were in different spots, typically toward the middle of the screen and in all different camera views. I saw a mention of a bug that caused something similar when dust was kicked up, but this was happening to me all the time. I want to know if this is a known Wii bug, or if there might be something wrong with my copy of the game.

Thanks

I saw this, but has anyone put this to work. I am assuming that you put it on an UBS card and then plug it into the Wii.

ronnie you shouldn't be apologizing for the Nintendo Wii not have dl capability. you should apologize for the fact that the company you work for (2K) released a game that does not work properly. If the game worked the way the customer expected it to when he/she purchased it then dl capabilities for patches/fixes wouldn't be needed. It sounds like 2K is using the lack of dl capabilities as an excuse to shirk there responsibilities.

You can get roster updates using a sd card and your computer. I don't see why they can;t make an update that we cand ownload to an sd card and then update our wii memory.

No, the actual instructions from the roster update are quoted below:

MLB 2K8 (Wii) user created roster distributed by WiiRosters.com. These files may not be redistributed without consent from WiiRosters.com. DO NOT link directly to this download, please link to wiirosters.com

This download is not, and never will be, a paid download. The free roster included with these instructions is a fan-created file distributed for free to other fans.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Drag the folder "private" to an empty SD memory card.

Insert the SD memory card into your Wii console.

Navigate to the Wii Menu's save data management screen and copy the MLB 2K8 file from the SD memory card to the Wii.

WARNING!

Installing this roster update will require you to overwrite your previous MLB 2K8 save file. This means you will lose your profile, season, rosters, etc.

Unfortunately there does not seem to be a way to update rosters without loosing your save data.

That sure does seem like a logical, doable solution, and one 2K Sports could do easier than end users...

Has anyone tried the updated roster? Some of the players that are on the FAQ the update is based on aren't even in the Wii version.

I just checked it out. You can easily back up your files using the SD card and a computer and do the same...

...the roster update isn't much. The fake names haven't been changed, no NEW players have been added, and on my favorite team (sadly, the Orioles) the starting rotation isn't even correct. Recent trades, and free agent signings have been updated however.

The SD card is totally the way to go to update the game. If 2K would take the time the game could be vastly improved this way. I'd love to see an expanded minor league roster thrown in as well, as most of the O's best prospects (Wieters, Tillman, etc) are completely left out in the Wii version as they're single A players.
