Maybe this will be a bit of a help for some of you, sure helped me and made this game much funner.

I lowered the AI Pitching for overall strikes to 0. Believe it or not, the CPU till throws a lot of strikes, but also throws balls now. I also lowered the pitch speed to around 50. I can now tell, usually, if the ball is going to be a strikes or not. Yes I swing at border line pitches that are sometimes balls now and then, but pitches in the dirt or way off, not usually.

I have played 5 games with this and have walked 2-3 times a game. Sometimes not at all though. I find it to be very realistic.

I have had a lot of 3-2 counts though!

Yesterday I actually got walked in my franchise after about 35 games or so! I am using Amazin86er's sliders (tweaked a little for my liking) and the CPU throw strikes (for all of 'em ahead, behind, overall) is set at 10 or so I think. It makes it seem more like an actual baseball game.

Now if I could only get the CPU to try to steal at least once I would be happy! :)

I may tweak my slider for overall strikes up a bit also ... sometimes there are too many. I'm just glad to actually be able to see the ball. No longer am I a free swinger.

I get like 3-4 walks per game, only had 1 out of 11 were i dont draw a walk at all, and i think i have the AI strike overall at 15 or 20...cant remember...now my question is how the hell do u steal a base? i have 1 so far and i dont know how i did it.

Controls are mapped out in the in-game menu. Just pause and check.

the best way to get walks is to set all of the AI strike sliders to 0. i have played about 4-5 games now and have walked in each. The most i had was 5 walks in one game and the least 2. You just have to be patient and not swing on the first pitch all of the time. Get the AI pitcher to work the pitch count so in the early innings it is higher than usual. Before you know it by the 4th or 5th inning if you dont already have one walk or so they will start rolling in because of the AI fatigue. This means putting more of your players on base and likely getting more hits with runners in scoring position... PLus I us SFG sliders

Another key is to put AI corner at 5, instead of the 100 you see in most sliders.

Doing this causes pitchers to throw pitches belt high, high middle, low middle, in the strike zone, and on the corners. At 100, every pitcher nibbles the strike zone and it does not have a realistic feel to it.

It's nice to have the AI pitchers work inside and outside, up in the zone and at belt high.

I usually walk 1-2 times with the ump with a huge *** strike zone, 3-4 with normal umps, and AT LEAST 6 times on the ump with the tiny strike zone. The most amount of walks in a game was 9.

that's not the ump buddy. The strike zone you see is related to the hitters size, not the umps call zone.

that's not the ump buddy. The strike zone you see is related to the hitters size, not the umps call zone.

Some umps on the game call a pitch a strike if it hits a "ball's width" out of the strike zone, wheras some others don't call it a strike unless the majority of the ball is "in the zone". Most call it consistently where any part of the ball touches the zone it's a strike.

There are both variable zones for the hitter based on their stance, and variable zones depending on which ump is behind the plate.

Perhaps that is what the poster is referring to.
