View Full Version : Pitch Speed....

I was just curious what some other players are using for their pitch speed. I used SF Giants Sliders and the speed was -10 startin from All-Star level. At times it is still a little tough to distinguish balls and strikes because the pitch comes in fast. But what are other people using for their pitch speed???

Pitch speed slider at 100%. I play with wide cam at 30% zoom. VERY difficult to hit; the way I like it. I have yet to win a game and am loving it.

I tried wide came and it seemed a bit easier to tell balls and strikes, but having it up to 100% is crazy! anyone else care to share???

One thing: the pitch speeds in the game are off. Too many pitchers have 95 mph FB's, etc. So I've been dropping speeds for a lot of pitchers as I go. Makes it a bit easier and definitely more realistic.

yea i've had to do that a couple of times with certain pitchers because it was gettin outta control, but do u take pitches with ur pitch speed so high? Because I cant see anyone being able to differ balls and strikes with the speed that high...

Anything less than about 70% is too slow, IMO.

With the Throw Strikes sliders way down, the CPU throws a lot of balls. AI Corner at 100 helps too. But it's like anything: you get used to it. I can draw 3-4 walks a game, pretty easy. It's the hitting that's tough ;)

For a lot of pitchers, I drop FB speeds by 3-5 mph, and offspeed pitches - especially curveballs - by 8-10 mph or more. So it starts becoming easier to distinguish.

I bump that bad boy up to 100%, wish they had 200%, just not fast enough. That's they way it is in real life, if you want the game to be realistic, 100% should be super fast. ever faced a 96mph fastball?? Not exactly alot of time to react.

I know Mariano Rivera doesn't throw a changeup, but he has one in the game

You would think that a developer who has the specific task of creating a baseball game, would locate the correct information and stats to include in the game they're developing. Very strange stuff.

Another thing that irritates me, I was just playing the yankees and Wang was pitching and almost every pitch he threw was a high sinker. You would never ever see a major leaguer purposely throw a high sinker. I see high changeups all the time too. 2k really needs to think about getting developers who have actually watched a game of baseball before

That's been an issue since 2K5. I'm pretty sure the pitch coding hasn't been touched in four years, even though Kush keeps promoting IE. About the only thing they've programmed with IE is how many Fastballs versus Changeups a pitcher will throw. And I doubt half the players in the game are even rated like using IE like that.
