Please tell me how to bat

hello, can someone please explain to me how to bat. ive tried pressing pretty much all the buttons and i cant seem to get it to swing the bat. i bought the game for my kid and all we can do is bunt. HELP:(

From 3 years you hit with the right stick but you can change it to the old button swing in the option.

Pull and hold back on the right thumbstick when the pitcher is about to release the pitch to step...then when you want to swing push forward. Timing on the step and swing are critical to getting a hit or homer. If you swing by pushing up-left or up-right, instead of straight up, you're more likely to hit to left or right center field. If you push to the left (9 o'clock) or right (3 o'clock) to swing, it'll be a power swing to left or right field. These are the default settings (swing stick 2.0).

In the menu, under VIP settings, you can change hitting to classic (face buttons, A and B) or swing stick 1.0 which was just step (same as 2.0) and then either release the right thumbstick for a contact swing, or push forward for a power swing. It's your choice what controls you want to use.

I had to laugh at that one! ALL WE CAN DO IS BUNT! Too funny. Pull back on the right stick to step, and push forward to swing.
