Charleston, SC - The Charleston Southern Bucs have decided on their new Head Coach. His name is David Hartman. He grew up in a small town near Austin, Texas and then moved to South Carolina when he was 13. He played high school ball here and went to Virginia University. Now he has made up his decision and is coaching Charleston Southern. "I think it will be a great year for the Bucs and this is a great oppurtunity. This year is gonna be something special."
The job almost went to another fellow coach but Coach Hartman just got the job by a hair. The staff decided that Hartman has better skills than the other guy and would help the team more.

The Tulane Green Wave withstood a valiant run in the last four minutes by Charleston Southern Monday night, defeating CSU 66-60 in the Bucs’ first game at the North Charleston Coliseum this season.
With 3:32 remaining, the Bucs faced their biggest deficit of the game, as they trailed the Green Wave by 11 points at 58-47, and had not scored since Chris Moore connected on a field goal at the 10:39 mark. Head Coach Barclay Radebaugh, knowing the game was far from over, pleaded for his young squad to step up their levels and finish the game strong.
The results were almost immediate, as on the next trip down the floor the Bucs converted a different kind of three-point play. Quinton Goods made a layup just before a technical was called on Tulane for having six players on the floor. Chris Moore made one of two free throws to cut the gap to eight. The sequence was big for the Bucs, but an even more significant possession would occur just over a minute later when CSU converted an also rare four-point play. Point guard Jamarco Warren faked a drive, then connected on a three-pointer over the outstretched arms of Tulane’s Donnie Stith. Stith drew contact with Warren, sending the freshman to the free throw line. Warren calmly converted to make the score 59-55.
The Bucs drew even closer when Chris Moore forced a Green Wave turnover and scored at the other end. The team then had a chance to tie after the CSU defense forced a miss from Tulane leading scorer David Gomez. Warren made a strong drive to the hoop on the ensuing possesion in hopes of scoring the tying bucket, but his layup effort rolled just off the rim. Warren would make a three-point shot with 16 seconds left as part of his 18 point night, but three-point misses by Warren and Omar Carter, as well as the Green Wave connecting on their first five free throw attempts of the last minute, provided Tulane with a winning margin of six.
The game had the makings of a high-scoring affair early on, as no less than six threes would be hit in the game's opening three minutes. Omar Carter and Warren continued the outside excellence they had exhibited in the opener by hitting three pointers on CSU’s first two possessions. As hot as the Bucs were, the Green Wave was hotter, as Tulane ripped the Coliseum nets by hitting all four of their threes in this time to stake the New Orleans school to an eight point lead at the 17:10 mark.Things settled down after this opening stretch, as both teams began to defend solidly inside. Standing out in particular for the Bucs was Marquise Duvall, who drew a key charge at the first half’s halfway mark, when he stopped Tulane’s Daniel Puckett from driving into the paint.
Eventually, the Bucs would find an offensive rhythm, mainly thanks to the play of Moore. Chris would hit two three-pointers in a row with just under four minutes left in the second half, with the second, a shot taken at the end of a CSU break off a pass from Lorenza Knight, providing the team with it’s first lead of the game. Tulane would close the first half with a three from Johnny Mayhane to provide them with a 33-30 halftime lead. The Conference USA school then hit the Bucs with a second-half opening 8-2 run which featured strong play in the paint from Robinson Louisme and Gomez, who finished the night with a game-high 22 points, and a three-pointer from guard Kevin Sims, who joined Gomez in double figures with 11 Monday. Gomez would continue to shine in the paint as Tulane sought to take advantage of its size and height advantages in the second half, but Moore (17 points) and the Carters Shelton (8 points) and Omar (10 points) hit big shots to keep CSU close before their final game-ending run.
