I have ran with N. Colorado in a short legacy with Coach Kirkland, before he died in a car crash driving home from visiting a recruit. They have some good talent as you will soon find out. Taibi and Archibeque will help you out a ton your 1st year. No reason why you can't win the Big Sky its a pretty weak conference. Mason is also very good. I like his rebounding skills. I got alot of double doubles with him and Kaba coming off the bench played amazing for me at the 4 and 5. Figures to me is the best PG on the team. He is short but quick. I don't tend to score alot with my PG I just like them to be able to drive and dish the ball.

Good luck. Always love to see a WestCoast team represent.
Its funny because I have thought about starting a new closed legacy and going on the East being how I never have.
I will miss Long Island though :(

I miss Long Island as well. I had 3 guys over 7 feet and a few good recruits i basically had locked up for season 4. But unfortunetly, its over.

Well, Im about to start my first game with Northern Colorado. I will find out pretty soon If i want to stay with this team since if i dont like it, Im using Sacramento State. I think ill be fine thou with this one. Mason and Banks are the reasons why I picked them. Guys I will have for more than one season, while Sacramento State I had a JR that was good and every other player I would have used was a senior. I think this one will stick around

Northern Colorado Wins First Game Of Season

NC: 26 - 38 - 64
Rich: 24 - 33 - 57

Northern Colorado is able to get a very nice victory in Coach Mosely's first game as the coach. Sean Taibi's buzzer beater 3 at the half gave NC the lead, and confidence. They came out strong in the 2nd half, but Richmond kept it close. There was a span where it was a three-point contest between NC's Taibi and Richmond's Butler. Either way, NorCol came out with a W. Coach Mosley after the game.

"That was a very nice victory for my team. I liked the hustle and tenacity of this group a lot. We still have a lot of things to go over, but so far, I feel good about this team."

Memphis Too Much For NorCol

NC: 33 - 26 - 50
Mem: 36 - 38 - 74

Memphis was playing the tournament at their home court, and it probably didn't make a difference. They were the best team in the bracket and Northern Colorado gave them an unexpected run for their money. A 3 point game at the half surprised a lot of people, but then Memphis came out in true form and NC made mistakes to seal the deal for Memphis.

Amazing Shooting Gives NC A Comeback W

NC: 31 - 34 - 65
Haw: 25 - 38 - 63

Northern Colorado was hot in the first half, leading for the whole half. The second half was an amazing performance by both teams. Hawaii went on a huge run and was up by 10 with about 3 minutes remaining. That is when Sean Taibi went on a tear.

He hit a 3, then Hawaii missed a 3. Taibi came down and hit another 3. Hawaii then scored a lay-up to make it a 6 point game. Taibi came down, hit another 3. He was on fire. Hawaii stalled with the ball and ended up throwing it out of bounds. Taibi brings up the ball, goes around a pick set by Jabril Banks, and drains a 3 to tie the game. Hawaii crosses half court and calls a TO. There was about 55 seconds remaining. On the inbounds pass, Taibi intercepts the pass, passes it to Panagoita, who gives it back to him right behind the Three-point line and Swish He drains the 3. Hawaii missed a 3 down the court and fouled NC until they were in the penalty, and Taibi hit both FTs. Hawaii made a 3 at the buzzer to lose by 2.

He is very good but problem is he is a SR, so it will be hard for him to make the All-American team because there will be only 1 year of stats to go off of.

Yeah, that is a problem. I guess it depends on how good he ends up doing. It'll have to be something really crazy to get on there. He averages 27ish and shoots Over 50% (20-36). But it's also only been 3 games, so I guess I gotta do work with him to get on the list

NC: 38 - 24 - 63

Northern Colorado was great early in the first half, shutting down Denver as great as they could. NC also made shot after shot, not including Sean Taibi, who went 0-9 from the 3 point line, easily a terrible day. NC slacked off a bit in the first, trying to give Taibi open looks so he could at least hit one three-pointer, but he was just off.

Coach Mosley Interview

Reporter: Coach, how do you think your team has been playing so far?

Mosely: I am very happy with how we are playing. Sean Taibi is shooting great. Well, not counting that Denver game. I don't know what happened there, I'll have to talk to him about that, but his teammates played great in that game. Overall, we are doing great. Our only loss was to the #3 team in the country, so we obviosly were not expected to win that game. Otherwise, I am happy with our team.

Reporter: What upcoming games stick out at you right now?

Mosley: All of them. We got New Mexico tomorrow, Oregon at the end of the week, and maybe the most crucial, Colorado a few weeks down the road.

Reporter: Why that game in specific?

Mosley: Well, for all of you that don't know, my little brother is a High School Senior. He is a 3*** recruit. J.R. Mosley. Ever since he was a kid, he always wanted to play college basketball at Colorado. But now that I am the Head Coach of Northern Colorado, we are on his list as well. Only us two. Right now, We are ahead because I have offered him the scholarship, but I have a feeling that if Colorado offers him one, he will skip out on a chance to play for his bro. That Colorado game is the last day of in-season signing, so maybe it will have an affect on where he goes. But then again, maybe he will make his decision the day the signing period starts. Anyway, We will have to see. And I'm not doing anything illegal recruiting wise by talking to him. At family parties, I don't talk to him about coming to Northern Colorado and even try to bribe him. I want what is best for him.

Reporter: Wow, any other bro's in the family?

Mosley: Actually, my other little brother is a HS SO right now, but nobody has started recruiting him yet. Don't worry, you will hear of him next year when he replaces J.R. as a starter on the HS team.

Reporter: Alright, thanks for the great info.

Mosley: No prob.

Yeah I'm surprised how good my shooter are, excluding Taibi since that's obvious. I got at least 3 guys that don't start that i can hit the 3 with, and Taibi and Mason are my 2 best starting shooter. Im also surprised i beat Oregon and New Mexico, especially since one was close and the other was a huge 2nd half blowout. I like this team more than the other legacy i had with Long Island, so I'm happy i picked Northern Colorado. Now if i can just get the recruit i want. He is 72% interested, and I've offered him a scholarship. His other interested school is Colorado, about 1 or 2 percent lower than me, but they haven't offered him a scholarship. So if they do, they will be ahead of me for sure. Hope they don't. i created him (3 starts) and he is "The coach's younger brother" cuz i gave em the same last name

The 2nd Half was a lot of NC playing catch-up, as they still were down by a pretty big margin. Later on, Taibi and Mason just drained 3 after 3 to get closer, and then late in the game took a 7 point lead to seal the game up for Northern Colorado in a huge victory.

Northern Colorado was unable to sign anybody during the season. Coach Mosley on recruiting and other things NC related:

"Well, we were hoping we could get JR Mosley to sign with us during the season, because we need a SG next season, and if he had accepted, we could have moved on without recruiting any more SG. Now that he didn't accept, we have to have Plan B options for next season's SG. Also, we need a C, so we are also going for one. We really don't need a PG since we have like 12, but the other scholarship, in case we don't have a player transfer over, will be a PF or a SF to backu up either Mason or Banks."

"So far, this season is going great. We are almost into conference play, which will be interesting, since we are playing great against very tough competition. Of course, anything can happen. Injuries, Cold Streaks, just plain losing is all possible, and I think my team is confident to a point where they are cocky. I will have a talk with them before the Gonzaga game, and see where things go from here. And can somebody tell me why we are not ranked in the Mid-Major Poll?"

It take us time to heat up, but we never fail to regain ourselves, and with one more non-conference game before the start of conference play, looks like we can gain a great amount of confidence that can hopefully take us far."

Coach Mosley Interview

Reporter: Coach, what are your goals for the remainder of the season?

Mosley: Well, so far, we have beaten a ranked team and have 10 total wins on the season. So, here are the goals for the remainder of the sesaon:

Win 20 Total Games
Win The Conference Regular Season
Win The Conference Tournament
Win At Least One NCAA Tournament Game
Sign J.R. Mosley (Coach Mosley's Younger Brother)

Reporter: Those are some big goals. What will you need to continue, or change, to accomplish all of those goals?

Mosley: Well, we need to keep our shooting hot. That may be the only reason why we only have one loss to the now #1 team in the country. We are a great shooting team. Taibi is an amazing scorer and shooter, and Mason is starting to pick it up. Banks and Archibeque are continuing to be involved in out offense and defense. Our bench will also need to stay healthy and keep shooting well while the starters are on the bench. As for getting my little brother to come here, it's all up to him.

Reporter: Have you talked to him about what his roll will be at Northern Colorado if he decides to come?

Mosley - He knows where his spot will be on this team. He is a big fan of the Buffaloes, and has been ever since he was a kid. What it comes down to is getting an offer. We have offered him a scholarship, and as far as I know, Colorado still hasn't. They offered a scholarship to another SG, and he has Colorado at the top of his list, so that could all depend on J.R. Mosley even getting an offer to play at Colorado, or playing at Northern Colorado next season.

Reporter: Thanks for the update. Good luck against CS Fullerton.

Mosley: Thanks.

NC Wins OT Thriller

NC: 31 - 35 - 23 - 89
CSF: 35 - 31 - 16 - 82

In the first half, it was close the whole time. NC was up by 5 at one point, and CS Fullerton was up by 6 at another, but CSF went to halftime with a lead.

In the 2nd, NC kept it close, but was gettin killed in rebounds. CS Fullerton rebounded most of their missed shots and put it back for 2, killing any momentum C had at the time. Later, as it was tied at 66 a piece with 34 seconds remaining, NC held the ball until the final few seconds, where Taibi missed the potential game winner and CSF missed a full-court prayer.

In overtime, Northern Colorado came out completely different and ready to win. Mason drained 2 straight 3s, and after a Fullerton lay-up, Taibi hit 3 straight, and CS Fullerton had no chance.

Reason why you are not ranked is you overall rating sucks. You should however make it into the Mid-Major Poll by the end of the year I am guessing. The Polls are 1 thing that really bothers me. Tell me how Gonzaga rated 86 overall and coming off 2 National Titles doesn't make the Preseason Top 25 the next season.

What difficulty are you playing on and what set of sliders are you using. Its okay if you want to win every game, just wondering because most legacys seem to have teams that lose more then 1 game in non-conference play, and at the rate you are going, I don't see you losing more then 2 or 3 games the rest of the year, the Big Sky is pretty weak.

I am on All American, and i just left all the sliders at 50. occasionally ill change some sliders for a week of games to see the difference, but whatever i do for me, i also move it or the computer, so in the end it didnt really make a difference so right now they are all at 50.

Most of my games have been close so I probably will lose 1 or 2 confernce games. I dont even know how i lost only non-conference game it was a tough schedule. I still have San Diego State a few games down the road, so that may be a tough one, but overall the Big Sky teams have awful records so im pretty sure i can win the regular season and conference tourny.

Coach Mosley Interview

Reporter - Coach, what kind of recruits, aside of your younger brother, are you looking to sign?

Coach Mosley - Well, my bro is a SG, so if he doesn't accept, then we have back-up options behind him. Taibi will be gone next season, and we only have one other SG on the roster, so we desprately need one. Also, Archibeque is the only center on our roster, so we ar looking to sign one, maybe 2 centers. We have enouh PGs to replace Panagoita, so we are not looking for one, and Mason is a soph and Banks a junior, so we don't need to replace starters there. For sure thou, we will sign a SG and a C.

Reporter - How do you thnk this team will fair without the nation's leading scorer?

Coach Mosely - Well, Taibi will certainly be missed, but we know that we won't have him, so we will need players to step up, like Mason or the SG we sign. Taibi is a great 3 point shooter, but we also have some good shooters on our squad right now. Wesolowski, Mason, Garrett and Beitzel are all good shooters, but Taibi is the best. Those other players contribute in other ways as well, but Taibi is a special shooter, and there aren't too many like him.

Reporter - How many game can this team win this year?

Coach Mosley - Well, we are at 14, so 6 more for my goal, but i think we can win more. I am expecting, at the worst, 2 losses before the NCAA tournament. I'd say no more losses, but not too many teams go through a season with one loss.

Reporter - With that great game by Wesolowski, will he see more playing time than he is getting right now.

Coach Mosley - Well, he is in more than any other sub, and with Mason at the SF already, i think keeping Weso as our 6th man is the right thing at the time. But If Taibi, Mason or Banks are injured, Weso will play for them. He can play SG, SF and PF. If the PG or C gets injured, then we will rightfully put in a player at that position into the line-up.

Reporter - Thanks, good luck against Weber State

Mosley - Thanks, and one more thing. I think i have said J.R. Mosley in every interview before this one, so i just had to say it right there to make this a great interview.

Amazing Comeback Victory By NC

NC: 28 - 56 - 84
SDSU: 43 - 40 - 83

Norther Colorado was shooting awful in the first half, and it showed. They knew what they needed to do to possibly win this game.

In the 2nd half, San Diego State basically played the same as they did in the first. The only difference was Northern Colorado was able to hit their 3s. That is how the game was won. With NC down 2, they foul SDSU. They miss the front end of the 1-1, Taibi brings it down court, gives it to Mason and he misses the 3. Foul again by NC. 19 seconds left. SDSU again misses the 1-1, but now we know who is taking the final shot. Taibi gets a wide open look and drains it with 5.8 seconds left. Wade gets a good look at the buzzer, but misses short.

POST GAME INTERVIEW

Reporter - Coach, how much does that win help you?

Coach Mosley - Dumb question, no offense. Every win helps, and every loss doesn't. I think you need to reword the sentence.

Reporter - Haha, yeah. I meant to say "How does that kind of a game affect your players"?

Coach Mosley - Much better, kinda. Well, it helps because we know that we can come back in almost every situation. Taibi and Mason made three's when we needed it, and Wesolowski gave us some nice shots off the bench.

Reporter - Now that only conference games remain for you and your team, how many games do you think you can when.

Coahc Mosley - I think we can win all of them. Most coaches and players need to believe that to succeed. I mean, 1 loss all season, and it was to Memphis. We are a better team now, and our conference isn't the strongest. I think we can win all of the remaining games, but it doesn't always work like that.

Reporter - Recruiting Update?

Coach Mosley - J.R. Mosley and at least one center. I've been saying that since you guys have asked. It's how its gonna be.

Reporter - And If J.R. Mosley passes on the scholarship?

Coach Mosley - Hmmm, well I've been saying we have a few Plan B's, but as of right now, I'm not worrying about that. No more questions. I got some games to win.

Miracles @ Portland State

NC: 34 - 47 - 15 - 96
PSU: 42 - 39 - 14 - 95

Edited - Northern Colorado knew it had a tought game against one of the better teams in the Big Sky in Portland State. The game was close in the first half until the final minute, when turnover after turnover by NC gave PSU easy baskets to end the half up 8.

The 2nd half stayed between a 7 and 13 point game for the longest time. It later was down to 5, but 2 easy baskets by PSU made it 9. That's when NC came back. Taibi made a 3, and then NC had to resort to fouling to get the ball back. Portland State made all of their FTs but 2, but so many 3s by NC made it a 1 point game. PSU made 2 FTs with 5.0 seconds left and that gave NC the ball down by 3. Taibi brought it up the court and AGAIN drains the tying 3 pointer with 1 second left. The full court prayer wasn't answered.

In overtime, PSU got off to a quick start, up 5 30 seconds in. Mason made a 3 to get it to 2. PSU made a 3 again and it was a back and forth game for 3 more minutes until about 1:30 left in the OT, Taibi and Mason went on a 3 point shooting tear, draining 4 straight 3s together to go up by 4. PSU got it within one and with 2 seconds left, NC passed it in and threw it in the air so time could run out. Northern Colorado escapes with another victory

Coach Mosley Interview

Reporter - Coach, what do you think of your teams 20-1 record?

Coach Mosely - It's amazing. I expected a 20 win season, but 20-1? No, when i first got here, i didn't think that would happen. I expected about 3 conference losses and about 5 or 6 non conference losses, to be realistic. Now, once we were 5-1, then 6-1 and then 7-1, that is really when i believed this team could do it.

Reporter - Is your success helping get recruits?

Coach Mosley - I think so. We have still only offered one scholarship, and he has only received one so far, so it's looking good so far. Have a lot of players' with out school at the top of their list. It's just a matter of what we need, and who we can get first.

Reporter - If you played Memphis again right now, what do you think your shot is?

Coach Mosely - Well, we lost by 15 last time to them, so i think we can make it closer, but then again, we aren't a big fastbreak team, and they have many athletic players that can play at that pace, so I still think it'll be a huge challenge until the end, but it wouldn't be a 15 point blowout.

Reporter - 8 games left. What will be your teams ending record?

Coach Mosley - 27-2. I say that because If i honestly think we will lose another game, which is a possibility since all of our games our close, it will motivate my team. 27-2. That's all I can say. If this team can go 28-1, I want them to prove it to me.

Reporter - Ok, I have no more questions. Thanks

NC: 39 - 41 - (17 - 11 - 29) - 137
NAU: 42 - 38 - (17 - 11 - 18) - 126

In a game that never was out of reach for either team, NC wasn't able to put it away in regulation after a Jefferson Mason missed jumper at the buzzer. In OT, With NC down to Northern Arizona 95-91, Taibi hit a 3. Then NAU his a 2 to make it 97-94. Taibi had the ball with 20 seconds left and helf it until the final seconds, when his open three went in to go to double-OT.

In 2OT, NC was looking good, up 108-105 and NC had the ball. NAU started fouling, but after their 6th team foul, Mason got the inbounds pass and drove for a lay-up, which was blocked. It gave NAU a fastbreak transition, and a wide open three that went in. Taibi's 3 at the buzzer from a long way's away was short

In 3OT, Taibi and Mason were able to hold their own, just dominating the offensive end of the floor, while Kaba, who was in for the fouled-out Archibeque, dominated the boards to win a great game.

yeah i was surpised when i saw the stat sheet. I usually attempt between 10 and 15 with him, depending on if i am down or up, but i was down by 3 or 4 for most of this game, including in the first 2 OTs, and i guess i just shot a lot with him. Coach Mosley Interview
Reporter - Coach, that last game was amazing to watch. What did you think of it?

Coach Mosley - It was amazing, but I wish it wasn't so stressful. I mean, we could have won it in regulation, we could have lost it in OT, we could have won it in 2OT, and thankfully, we won in in 3OT. Long game, but somehow, my team got out of it happy and with a victory.

Reporter - What do you think of the performances of Sean Taibi and Jefferson Mason in that game?

Coach Mosley - Well, their PPG average probably went up about 20 after that game. Mason with 41 and Taibi with over 60 is just ridiculous. I would have never thought I could coach a game where two players combine for over 100 pts. Really, i didn't think it could happen with 3 players. I mean, Taibi shot a lot, but he shot 66% from the arc, so that's very good. Mason wasn't shooting well, but he had a lot of hustle and 2nd chance points. Also, he almost had a triple-double. a few rebounds and assists short, but either way, they both played great.

Reporter - What did you think once Archibeque fouled out?

Coach Mosley - Honestly, he was coming out at the same time, so I didn't even notice it was his fifth until the start of 2nd OT. He fouled out early in the first OT, and i didn't even know it. Just thought of it as a routine sub. But once I found out he couln't go back in, I knew Kaba needed to step up, and he did in his best performance of the year. Then again, most of our players' best performance of the year was in this past game.

Reporter - Well, how's the recruiting going?

Coach Mosley - Good. We are in good shape. Alright, gotta go to practice.

NC was able to escape with a 2nd OT victory in a row. Late in the 2nd half, with NC up against Sacramento State 59-56, Jefferson Mason blocked a potential tying 3 pointer. NC brought the ball up the court for a lay-up. SaSt made a layup the next posession, and NC missed a layup with 34 seconds remaining. SaSt with the ball, Leath attempts a 3, and this time, Jibril Banks blocks the potential game tying shot out of bounds. Either way, Leath got it back and drained a 3. NC had the ball with 20 seconds remaining. Taibi was shooting terrible all game, but he had made a big one earlier. Mason was playing fantastic, so he got the final shot off, a 3 off a pick and roll that didnt work out well, and this game was going to OT.

In OT, Mason had a key steal and block to secure a victory for NC. Taibi also hit 3 3's in the OT.

NC Loses First Conference Game Of The Season

NC: 25 - 36 - 61
WSU: 30 - 36 - 66

Weber State started off on a 14-2 run, and nobody on NC could hit a shot. Coach Mosley pulles out the starters and put in some subs, and it got them closer, and then when the starters came back it, they made it a 5 point game at the half.

The 2ns half was a lot of coming back for NC. They got within 3, but a missed 3 by NC lead to a 4-0 run that gave Weber State a 7 point lead. Slowly, NC came back, but a crucial play in the game was with NC down by 4 late in the game, Taibi missed a lay-up that could have made it 2. Instead, NC had to foul and was down 6. Jibril Banks' Buzzer-beater 3 gave NC a 5 point loss

The Last Coach Mosley Interview Until The Big Sky Tournament Is Over

Reporter - How do you think that 2 game losing skid affected your team?

Coach Mosley - Well, I think after the 1st loss, we thought we could easily pick up a W and get back on track. That wasn't the case, as we were blown out @ home. I talked to the players about how this next game is out last home game of the season, and also senior night. I told them that if they didn't play a great game, it was going to be tough to go to Montana to end the season against Montana, the 2nd best team in the conference, and Montana State, the 3rd best team. We were able to play great in that game, and I think it got us right back on track.

Reporter - How is recruiting going right now? Anybody else looking to come to NC next year?

Coach Mosley - Well, my brother has us tied at the top of his list with Colorado, and he is 100% interested in both schools. Colorado still hasn't offered him a scholarship, so I am hoping he comes to NC and fits right in. We also have a 2* center, Fab Mendoza, on our list. He is around 95% interested in NC, and we are at the top of his list by a mile. He is a 7'1" monster that we think can help our interior offense and defense. I'm not guarenteeing anything, but I think he will join our team next season. We still have one more scholarship to offer, but we haven't made a final decision on who we are offering it to, but we have the list around 3 or 4 people.

Reporter - How great of a team is your team right now?

Coach Mosley - We are a damn good team. I think we can make a deep tournament run as long as the whole team contributes. Taibi will need to score around 25 a game, and Mason, Banks and Archibeque in double digits as well. I think we have a great chance to go far.

Reporter - Anyway, good luck the rest of the way. We will talk to you again once the Big Sky Tourney is over.

Coach Mosley - Thanks.

NC Blows Lead, Gets Past Montana In OT

NC: 43 - 16 - (19) - 78
Mon: 29 - 30 - (16) - 75

Northern Colorado came out the gate hot, just draining a large percentage of their shots, including a 28 foot buzzer beater at the half by Taibi.

In the 2nd half, NC couldn't buy a shot for a buck, and Montana came bakc late, and Rundles hit a 30 foot prayer with .9 left to tie it up. Taibi's 30 foot prayer didn't fall.

In OT, NC went for an odd style, intentionally fouling late, even when up. Taibi hit a 3 to go up one with 5 seconds left. Instead of giving Montana a chance to win it on a shot, NC fouled them to earn their points. Rundles made 1 of 2, his only missed FT being there. They tied it up with 5.5 left in OT. Taibi brought the ball up court and just shoots it once he feels he is in range, and he drains it at the buzzer. After blowing a huge lead, NC was able to take the W anyway.

Player Of The Game: Taibi (28 pts, 5 rebs, 5 assts, 1 stl, 7-9 3PT)

Congrats on the wins. I have noticed other then the game against EWU that Archie doesn't get mentioned much in the stats. Especially against Portland St where Taibi,Mason,Betziel scored like 65 of your 69 points. I realize your team has some very gifted 3pt shooters, but I think for you to win the tourney and make a run in the Dance you will need to rely on getting Archie involved early in scoring in the post. Have you had any luck with Kaba?? I know you are starting Banks, but when I used Kaba he was a nice player too. I think I finished the year avg 8 pts and 8 boards.

Preo32
April 26th, 2008, 09:51 AM
^^ Kaba misses so many shot shots that i dont shoot it much with him. He had one or 2 nice games this season. That Portland State game i lost i was getting blown out so bad i was just shooting 3s for a while to try and come back, so thats why those 3 had the most. Archibeque gets me around 7 and 7 a game, but Banks and Mason get a good amount of boards as well, and Mason is a huge all-around player. He's probably my favorite player to use. Taibi is good at shooting, but other than that he is almost useless. Mason can shoot, rebound, steal, block. He's like a Josh Smith type of player. Taibi is like a Kyle Korver.

Also, Archibeque can rack up the points, but for some reason, he is inconsistent in the paint. Some games he will hit ever short shot, and the next game he will miss all of them. I am trying to get him and Banks more involved, so it's just a matter of how soon can i get them to be consistant.

Coach Mosley - First of all, thanks. 2nd, we are playing good. We played 2 close games against 2 Big East schools, and we were able to leave with a victory.

Reporter - What do you think of Miami (FL)? Are you surprised to be playing them, a #10 Seed, in the sweet 16?

Coach Mosley - Well first of all, when i first saw the brackets, i expected to play Michigan STate if we were to go to the Sweet 16. Im surprised UTSA beat them in the 1st round, but anything can happen. Miami (FL) is a 10 seed and UTSA a 15 seed. People probably thought Pitt would beat us, and it didnt happen. Recruited Players:

#15 J.R. Mosley 6'6 207 (64 Ovr, 82 3PT, 82 Dunk, 79 Stl)

Analysis: Coach Mosley's Son will be a starter from day one, replacing the sharp-shooting Sean Taibi. He has a chance to be a great player for this team.

#54 Sam Martin 6'8 210 (67 Ovr, 86 Close, 87 DReb)

Analysis: The New Zealand native may become starting Center. PF belongs to Jabril Banks. He could become a great player, already the highest rated on the team (#2 is Mosley) He was the last recruit to sign with NC. MAy be a huge factor this season.

#51 Fab Mendoza 7'1 277 (52 Ovr)

Analysis: Signed for the lack of team size, Mendoza is a monster. Well, size-wise. He is not very skilled at one main thing. He is just ok at everything. He needs to develop more into a better inside guy and shot blocker to be a big factor. May start at C, but it really depends on how well he and Martin play.

We had a 4th scholarship since Palacios left, but it was a tough decision between a center and one or two SGs, so I decided to keep it for next season instad of using it on a player that may not play

Pre-Season Coach Mosley Interview

Reporter - Coach, nice season last year. What do you think of your current team?

Coach Mosley - Thank you. I think this team can be just as good as last years. My brother is a great scorer, so he may be able to take the place of the graduated, 1st in PPG last year Sean Taibi. Sam Martin is a great add to the front court, and Fab Mendoza is huge and can be a big factor. Plus, Jefferson Mason, Garrett, and the rest of the returning players are better, making this a dangerous team.

Reporter - You team schedule comes out tonight? Can you give us a hint on what may be on there?

Coach Mosley - Well, I know we play Montana, Montana St, Weber State, and the other Big Sky teams. Write that down right there. To be serious, we are in the Great Alaskan Shootout, and out non-conference schedule is no cake walk. We have games vs teams in the Big 12, Big East, A10, and I think the ACC as well. It'll be a tougher schedule than last years, and even if our record is worse than last years, it doesnt mean this team is worse because our opponents are so much tougher.

Reporter - Word is you will have one senior in the line-up this year. True?

Coach Mosley - I think so. Jabril Banks is one of out 2 returning starters, and Jefferson Mason is a JR now. Garrett is a Sophmore, and he will be the teams starting PG. J.R. will be the SG as a frosh, and either Martin or Mendoza at C, and both are freshman. So yes, it's true, but not a big deal.

Reporter - What are your goals for the season?

Coach Mosley - Well, here is my list of goals:

Win The Conference Regular Season & Tournament
NC Player Win POY
NC Player Win Conf. Frosh Of The Year
NC Player 1st Team All-Frosh
Advance to Sweet 16
Recruit A 4 Star Player

Reporter - Big goals there, coach. Any player in specific?

Coach Mosley - Well, I think Mason is the frontrunner for Big Sky POY, but you never know who may step up on this team. J.R. and Sam have a good chance at being the conference frosh of the year, and also being on the 1st team all-frosh. Just hoping for the best from both.

Reporter - Sorry if this offends you, but are you giving special treatment to J.R. Mosley?

Coach Mosley - If by special treatment, you mean push him harder because he may think he gets special treatment, than yes. He is not coming in expecting to play the full game, every game. He is a starter, but that's because Taibi graduated. If Taibi was still here, my brother is a guarenteed bench player. But Taibi is gone, so my brother takes his place. He won't receive special treatment from me, the school, the players, or anybody else. I'm putting it out there now, and I want no more questions about it. Now, I gotta head to practice.

Just to give you some heads up you typed that JR was your Son in the Recruiting wrapup instead of Brother, but I have been following since day 1 so I knew what you meant. Things look good. I see you posting big games with Mason this year with Taibi and Archie gone. Looks like Kaba put up decent enough # to win the Big Sky?? Must of been a down year.. :) Don't forget about him. I am telling you he has ability to put up double doubles.

Anyways good luck. Looking forward to year 2. I must be honest your legacy is one of the main ones I read right now. I personally am not a big fan of the storys about 1 player. They all seem the same to me. Kid has a rough home life, friends die, they all have girls like like ect ect and we don't see much actual game starts and what is actually going on in the legacy. Thats just my opinion though.

Thanks, guys. The Schedule will be up pretty soon. Gotta finish some HW and watch some more ATL Hawks.

I think Mason will be a huge inpact, since Taibi wont take away a lot of his points, but J.R Mosley could since he's my best shooter. Thanks Deuce for noticing that. Imma change it.

Kaba i think can be a nice impact. He will probably be the back-up PF since Mendoza will come off the bench. I dont know how he made it on the Big Sky Frosh team. I had 3 or 4 other Freshman that played just as much or more. Wesolowski, i thought, was my best freshman, but Kaba was pretty good as well.

Going to be tougher with 3 starters gone, but i actaully liked the PG Garrett more than Panagoita, but he was rated better and a better PG, while Garrett was a good shooting PG, but not as great a passer. You all will see how tough a schedule it is. A few easy teams, but mostly Big Conference schools. I think i dont remember a lot of it

NC Starts Off Season With A Bang

NC: 26 - 42 - 68
RI: 32 - 35 - 67

In the first game of the season, Northern Colorado got lucky in a road victory. With NC down 64-62, they missed a basket with around 34 seconds left. They had to resort to fouling. After the 6th team foul, Garrett was able to steal inbound pass, pass it upcourt to Banks, who dunked it AND 1. He makes the FT to go up 65-64 With 28 seconds remaining.

RI with the ball. I am expecting a 3 since they made a lot from there. They end up passing it down low to Seawright, who makes the bucket AND the foul. He makes the FT giving RI a 67-65 lead with 2.1 seconds remaining. NC calls a TO, but still has the ball on the other baseline. They throw it all the way down to J.R. Mosley about 7 feet behind the 3 point line, and he drains it right at the buzzer!!! Just an amazing finish to the first game of the season. Coach Mosley on the game:

"Damn, that was a close one. Rhode Island is a great team, and we got lucky, considering J.R. hit 3 of 10 in the game. It was a very nice shot, but we got a lot of contribution tonight, and hopefully it continues for the remainder of the season."

NC Wins 2OT Thriller

NC: 23 - 39 - (18) - (24) - 104
SIU: 29 - 33 - (18) - (18) - 98

Northern Colorado could have won at the end of regulation and OT, but didn't take advantage of their opportunities. In the 2nd OT, It stayed around a 4 point game for a whil. NC was up four and had fouled SIU on a lay-up. They made 1-2, got the board on the missed 2nd. The center missed both FTs, got his own reb and was fouled again. And again, he missed both. That's what it came down to at the end: Free Throws. Northern Colorado prevails.

Player Of The Game: Mosley (37 pts, 4 rebs, 2 assts, 7-13 3PT)

Wow, does you team even know what the word lose means?? Coach Mosley is amazing. Looks like Jr is wasting no time filling Taibi shoes. 1st game struggled behind the arc I am guessing you had to get use to his shot??

^^ Yeah in the first game he started off the game with a 3 right off the bat and started 2 of 3. Then he missed his next 6 throughout the game. I was hesitant whether i should let him shoot that buzzer beater, but he's my best 3 point shooter and i didnt expect to get a great look anyway, and he just made it. The 2nd game he was on fire and the third i only took 2 cuz almost everytime i pumpfaked, the guy on him would jump, which either gave me an open lane or a closer jumper.
