View Full Version : is still shameful to see veterans still play like newbies

i been around since the release if 2k8 so im a veteran myself and yes in the beginning i was a victim of cheesing tactics. fg glitch, hot route slant, calling hike while my player in motion in front of my QB, no huddling alot, etc...
But every since like september of last year i realized that i didnt have to do none of that in order to win in this football game. i had just recently got to my 100 loss point and i played well over 500 games online and its just shameful, TO ME, to see people who played more games then me still play like NEWBIES.
IM SORRY BUT IF U GOT WELL OVER 300 GAMES ONLINE AND U STILL PLAYING LIKE U JUST PICK UP THE REMOTE FOR 2K8, I DONT RESPECT U. U WEAK AND U NEEDS TO STEP YOUR GAME UP.
ME AND SOME OTHER VETS DID but thats a low number and its should be high

There's a lot of things people do that annoy me with regards to their game play. We're having a discussion with regards to the evils of quick hiking for example. However, I still respect everyone's right to play the game how they want. Of course, that doesn't mean I will respect them for how they play it. ;)
Instead of getting frustrated with other players, just find a good set of players that play the way you play, add them to your friends list, and then enjoy the game. Until they add a 'Fair Play Mode', there will be absolutely ZERO guarantee of a exploit free or fair game in APF2K8 against random opponents.

yeah i see what you u saying and i agree with u on that first paragraph. i enjoy the game regardless of who i play so i dont need a good set of opponents to love this game but it just makes me want to cry seeing veterans play like little girls.
its a big difference between football exploits and programming exploits, and the programming exploits is the one im addressing. i understand football in real life, and can tell the difference between the two.
example, a football exploits is something like u leaving jerry rice one-on-one with no safety help on the outside and your qb lob it up for a easy td. a programming exploits is when u have your secondary in cover 4 and back them up to defend the deep ball, then the opponents does the outside hot route slant and somehow still manage to 10 to 20 yards cause your db somehow is out of position to make a play on the WR.
The veterans are not representing 2k8 the right way or football for that matters and it should be addressed now that this is the only 2k football game till they decide to bring out the follow-up.

We can discuss the merits of various game play tactics, but as far as other's behavior that's rather a moot point. We can't control it and posting on forum's board won't solve the perceived problem. At the end of the day, the only thing we can control is our own actions & behavior. There's a saying... People in rock houses shouldn't throw glass... well, something like that. Basically it's saying that we should worry about our own business and not others, because we usually have problems of our own that need addressed. This is why we should focus on game play and tactics and the merits or lack of there in. No matter how good you think you are, or how legit you think you play the game, there will always be someone out there whose better than you or thinks you're a cheezer.
As a general approach to life, I find that I have enough worries / problems of my own without having to call out or worry about others. :)

I've been playing 2K since dreamcast and I still play like a newb.
Not because I abuse exploits, but because I regularly get my a** handed to me.
Its okay cuz I enjoy the game and now I found something I'm good at. So I'm slowly but surely getting better. Gold FB ftw!

There's a lot of things people play that they aren't any good at. You don't have to get better to have fun. Want proof? Visit a golf course. hehe

What i find funny is everyone comes here and talks about all these horrible experiences they have all the time online. Yet, when i log in to play. I dont hardly ever experience it. I obviously get some games where its just a cheesefest, but i would say 8-10 games i play have been good fun clean games.

I dont care how someone plays as long as they arent trying to cheat me. If someone isnt that good, or just plays like a fool, that's their problem, not mine.
Actually,m I do have 1 pet peeve. People who continually manually reposition their players on defense.
There is no need to do it. That's what the coverage shells and LB shifts are for.
The second I see a guy moving dudes out of position, I'm snapping the ball and either passing or running to the spot that has been vacated.

one of the purposes of forums is finding out how or why about a certain video game and thats what i trying to find out.
why is someone who put in well over 300 games online, in countless hours in practice mode still feels like they have to cheese or play like a noob in order to win? Especially when its been proven that u dont have to use them to win, this is not madden where its almost a necessity to cheese in order to win.

Well...This whole thing about how someone should play and how they shouldn't play is silly!
I have played over 400 games online over the course of 2k8's release, which isnt' that much compared to some who have played 500-800 games (you know who you are) and everybody is different, some people have all day to sit around and perfect this game ,while others like myself have real world things to do (work, kids, friends etc) so people's skill levels vary based on how serious they are about the game, not how many games they have played!
There are players out there that beat me every time (bofa) with little stress and i have played just as many games or more. Look, you can get cheese from a vet or cheese from a noob or a clean game from a vet or a clean game from a noob...# of games has no effect on that. Looking at # of games in the lobby to size someone up isn't the smartest thing to do, just check their fdbck from other players as this is a better way to determine who to play. My 2 cents.
Peace.

if u put in 500 games online, u serious about the game. u dont put in that many games and not take 2k8 seriously. i mean i have work, a up and coming wife, and friends but i still play this game faithfully.
im not trying to change the 2k8 community but at the same time i will address the people who put countless hours into this game. i dont attack newbies, i go after the so-called best in this game.
Its Us VETS that defines 2k8 identity and from what im hearing from alot of people is they dont even like playing people rank in the top 100, cause all they do is cheese and have these super-powered CAPS team, etc.... AND TO ME THATS SAD TO HEAR

This is a question that I have asked myself attimes. Like when I see guys move their players around manually, pre-snap..to supposedly get them into better position, while I am just playing using the tools that the game has given me, and am able to hold them just fine.
I played some guy who was CONSTANTLY re-aligning his safeties manually..and after repeatedly going over the top of them, I messaged him and asked him why he kept on doing it?? It made no sense.
Of course, I knew why..he's trying to confuse the blocking AI.. I told him, if he wants to bring his safety into the box and blitz him, just call a coverage shell and be done with it..lol.. he left me negative feedback after the game

My boy calls a Dime 3-2 and Moves his safeties into the box and re alings all his players and when you snap the ball they go flying around the field like Roaches.
I've never beat him in over 4 tries, and lost pretty badly in all of them.
Now I'm not saying it's cheese and I have never mentioned it BUT by him putting everyone in the middle and manually moving everyone I can't make even one pass.

2k8 and nba 2k8 are really all i play when my 360 is on maybe 3hrs a week! I know people who play 3 hrs or more a day, there is a difference in how serious someone takes the game(fact) anyway, why in the world do you care what others are doing? Why does this make you sad?
Can you not rise above and move on? Really, there will always be cheesers and there will always be people like you who will trip on them and giving them power!
This post does nothing to change that. If you dont like how someone plays, tell them the reasons why and move on, never to play them again. Simple.

well why can't someone care about the top players on the game and discuss if they letting 2k8 fall playing like noobs. I mean if micheal jordan or wayne gretsky was found taken steroids during there career you wouldn't be disappointed and then want to find out who else that was considered great out there cheating. I know I will be and it applies with a video game as well.
if the top player not gone play the right way then who will. when I do play a vet, they either get blown out or cheese heavily to beat me and I let them know what they had to do to beat me. this year out of maybe 20 matches, all different opponents, against vets 4 of them played the right way. I have won and lost those games but I respect them cause they playing the game respectively.

There will always be cheesers so we might as well get used to it..People who cheese or do things to help give themselves an advantage in my book sucka nd have no skills b/c they cant beat me the right way..Thats why I play againsta select group of people who are highly ranked and have been playing with them since 2k5 sincee we are long time friend aka Bofa Deez..lol

Ok, dude. Whatever. I tried to see your side of it, but to me being a vet has nothing to do with anything, and everything to do with fairplay.
50 games or 500 games, doesn't matter it's a VIDEO GAME of football!
I will not lose sleep or whine nor cry about some jerk cheating! I will remember that person and NEVER play them again.
There are players that come on this forum dailey and buzz my controller all day in the lobby but i dont play them b/c i know they are shady...easy to avoid and on to the next match. No crying or sadness needed. Try it.

i enjoy playing the game regardless who i play. im a competitor and i love beating cheaters and i beat cheater more than i lose to them. i guess im gone be 2k8 own personal bad guy for the 360 to the vets, which i dont mind i guess. so if u a veteran at this game cheating to win and think u doing somethin if u play me, win or lose, i will talk about u badly whereever. in private, in the lobbly, or on the forums.
im not reckless with what i feel is cheating. its how many times u cheating in the game. do the hot route slant 5 times, constantly trying to fg glitch, trying to get easy sack with that twist glitch all game, mashing on the the cadence like 10 times on one play to get me offsides.

Yes Valdarez, you see the light as well. Good. Hova! You however are a different story.
First off, i can't really understand what you are trying to say...it's like a bad "ice cube
movie" secondly, cadence. If you are doing the cadence thing, thats horrible! There is nothing cheaper in the game than that b/c it takes no skill and there is no way to stop it!
So you talking about others on the subject of cheating and doing dirt in the game...well you might not be the one to talk. And that means if you are talking about what someone else is doing, who's going to care if your shady yourself??

i guess u didnt understand my post cause its no way u would have called me dirty. vegas is just upset that he couldnt control emmitt smith so he blaming and crying about 5 yards to justify his poor gamplay. and what he did in the game was 5x more cheesing/cheating/dirty than my one little cadence call which is all i got from that game. if u see me cry over 5 yards i will send u my address for u can come and slap me.
Its not dirty if u hit the button one time. HUT-HUT thats it dog and after i hit the cadence button once i hike it. i dont do it every down, maybe every drive but how i do the most i ever got was 10 yards so thats twice max for one game.
if u feel thats its dirty then ill send u my address for u can slap me. if im right about u then i doubt i would have to do that. if u do still feel like im playing dirty with what i explained, then tell me how.

mike96vegas is right on this one,
using cadence 1 time during a game and accepting the 5 yard penalty is cheap and worthy of negative feedback.
