I dont know if anyone has come up with this before.
But I was thinking of a franchise mode for apf offline and online
have a generic players mode with no legends however give the generic players abilities and put them on seperate teams for offline however online it would be a fantasy draft type thing that way the players will get put out evenally. now dont give the players gold or silver or bronze stars this way through the years players who have great seasons can earn extra abilities if they have a good season if a player gets injured bad and misses most of the season the next year they might loose one or two abilities... catch my drift? Now the best part would be a online draft after a season all the teams get to scout there players and have like a analyst have a list of the best players in the draft.

Now lets say i got the number one pick and i go for the best player in the draft rookies can have up to 3 abilities however having a 3rd ability out of the draft is rare and slightly hard to get a player with a second this way most rookies only have a best chance to get 1 ability however after the first round it is very hard to draft any rookie with a ability. I also think it would be cool if you did your scouting good and found a "sleeper" or whatever they call players who get drafted in the later rounds but become great players like how tom brady was drafted 5th. So that way you might draft a cornerback in the 6th round and if he was a sleeper then he might already have one ability. now each rookie through the years can become 5 star ability players while sometimes you can draft a player who has no abilities but gains 2 abilities 4 years later but never gains anymore or looses any through the rest of his career.
This would also make trading online awesome lets say i have a 5 star quarterback in his 8th year but i lack a D-line and have a backup Qb with 3 abilities but he is younger and i want to start him i could find another team who might have 2 DL stars with only 2 abilities in there 3rd and 5th year but has a 2 star quarterback this way i could offer him my older Qb for his 2 younger but not as developed D linemen.
Im not sure if a apf2k9 is comming out however if they dont i hope they release some kind of franchise mode that would keep the game going.
what do you guys think?

^ not a bad idea. Think it would work fine as an offline mode as well.

Here's my Idea:

Flesh out the generic players a little more - no ratings ala Madden, but more real descriptive terms (in the tradition of the current attributes). Your college draft is all unknown names, however you draft in the hope that they will develop into a great player. So that first round draft pick - call him John Doe for now - that is scouted to be a future hall a fame player may just turn out to be Walter Payton in a couple of years. Now there's the making of a franchise player you can build your team around. Of course, on the other hand John Doe may indeed just turn out to be...John Doe, a HB that never lives up to his potential. Ugh, a wasted first round draft pick! And imagine the fun watching another team pick the player you passed over only to see him turn out to be one of the greats.
