View Full Version : My Boy Kobe Should Be A 99 In Nba 2k9!

Kobe bryant was just handed his first of many mvps. He should be a 99 nxt year, he is a bona-fide superstar, a legend like magic, larry, oscar, elgin, and michael. Lebron could not even touch him. They are not on the same level so 2k never ever make kobe, lebron, and wade with the same overall rating again like you did in the past iterations. You disgrace his basketball legacy.

So you think only Kobe's rating should go up next year? I've seen numerous threads like this all about Kobe's rating. Is it that hard to be productive with a 98 rated player that you need him to be 99?
Why is it that Kobe is everyone's "boy"? Your favorite player doesn't have to be the best player in the league. There's no rule that says that.

I'm just saying give the guy his due just like mike got in previous nba live series. You have got to have a line between a legend and an all-star. No question here you can do a lot with Kobe, he is even unstoppable this year in 2k. Give the best player the best rating you can give him even its just a videogame. I could care less whose rating goes up next year as long as kobe gets a 99 and oh yeah kevin garnet too should get a 99! Separate these two from the all-stars these two are legends! Duncan should be a 97 since he had a solid season not an mvp-type of season. So STFUP!:rotfl:

Kobe's been a superstar. Just because he won the MVP this year doesn't mean he's anything more then he was the year before. Chris Paul could've easily been the winner this year; but IMHO Kobe got it due to popularity of the voters for not having got it in the past.
Paul carried his team harder than Kobe did. Kobe cried and wasn't a team player putting the franchise on hold at the beginning of the season with his "trade me" cry. CP3 never cried that ths year. Larry, Oscar, Elgin. and Michael never cried that.
He simply got the nod for being there longer than Paul. As far as him being seperated from Wade or LeBron....only Kobe lover w***** would say something like that. He's a beast in this game (as is); but he is NOT THE GAME.
Get off your Kobe high horse, and tell me when he's won his own championships like Larry, Oscar, Elgin, Michael with team work and dignity...and with out Shaq. Now the Lakers get the best record in the east...not because of your "legend"; but because of the addition of another big man to save Kobe's diapers...Pau Gasol.

Kobe equal to Mike..lol and I don't even like MJ (just respect his talents)... if you want Kobe to be that great; then go to the NBA LIVE series and talk to those folks....this is the wrong game to ask for a player to be seperated from the pack. Peeps always getting overly excited by the glimmer of awards. ...and how in the **** do you say Garnett is a legend when Duncan has many titles under his belt, and KG never even sniffed a finals apearance in his life; and has only reached the 2nd round for the 3rd time in his career...??? You see what I mean about peeps falling for the hype???
Kobe deserves nothing then he already has in this game. SO STFUP...:rotfl: !

If 2ksports keep giving more than 94 rating to players, cheesing won't stop. The best player (Kobe) should get 94. Then everyone else from 93 going down. In this 2k game, players with 95 or more are scoring UNREALISTIC 85% FG %.
2ksports must focus on Defense gaming , rather than dunk ability %, offensive %, shots in traffics %, etc...

and honestly, i see more potential in lebron than kobe. lebron has a much weaker supporting cast the kobe. let's see kobe carry a team like new jersey nets (without carter) and then we'll talk. look at his freakin supporting cast for crying outloud. gasol, odom, bynum, fishers 3pt danger? haha, that's some team with strong backups.
kobe can give me a rim job.

I agree to a point. The best player in the league should be a 99, the worst a 50, and work from there.

When you win 6 titles...you can make demands...not when you cry and haven't shown you can't win anything without a big man to change your diapers.
Show your worth...then demand.

nope he did it after 3 i believe, just like kobe, and just like kobe, he didn't win em' by himself, people seem to forget shaq was THE biggest liability in the 4th quarter ever... someone had to hit those clutch shots while shaq was off the floor, enter mamba rob and fish...conference finals- Portland in 2000, San Antonio in 2001 and Sacramento in 2002
In 2000 against the Blazers, Kobe had 25 points, 11 boards and 7 assists in Game 7.
In 2001 against the Spurs, Kobe had 45 points, 10 boards and 3 assists in Game 1; 28, 7 and 6 in Game 2; 36, 9 and 8 in Game 3; 24, 2 boards and 11 assists in Game 4. You were what... in 3rd grade.(lol j/k)
In 2002 against the Kings, he had 30, 10 boards and 7 assists in Game 7. You were in um 4th grade.??( again j/k)
It's funny how people forget and just repeat what other haters say like sheep. Bah.

People seem to forget? If Shaq was such a liability, why hasn't Kobe won a title since Shaq and he departed ways...then Mr. 4th quarter liability springs up in Miami with another title?
Who cares about individual performances you post about a player you adore? That can be done back & forth with any player. He didn't accomplish that on his own. Mr. Liability was there to change his diapers for him....and in 2001 my son was in the 5th grade (lol..seriously)..and in 2002..he was in um...6th..!
You can make all the excuses you want to; and it's obvious by your forum name who I'm dealing with here. That's your perogative to name yourself after a favorite player (or favorite team for some)...I'm a fan of basketball; so I don't get so far entrenched in individuality where I think a player needs to get a 99 rating because he won a popularity award that could've easily gone to someone else.
Call me a hater if you want; but Kobe is one of the best players in the league today...he's no MJ...never will be (and again...I don't even like MJ...just respect his awesome ability to play...but my Knicks were one of a very few teams to not back down to him "back in the day").
You can implant years that you want to implant to try and make your Kobe up their with MJ...but he's not. Sorry...lol ...saying that Jordan demanded the same things Kobe did...lol
....and no...Jordan did not win a title by himself...but when he did win...it was without a center that was considered to be the most dominant in the game....but to fit your agenda...that dominant center was a liability....where would the Lakers be if that liability never made it to Tinsle town?
Would your forum name be Mamba then? I'm not a Kobe hater. I think Kobe has come a long way from where he's been; but to say he needs to be seperated from everyone in this video game...because of an award is plain...homerism thinking...
If he's soooooo good..then use what you've got...and use your OWN energy to make him your MVP in this game; just like he used his own sweat to try and achieve...
Haters hate...and Kobe lovers want it eaiser then it is already....everything takes effort....nothing's given.
Personally for me...Kobe's all right, and had a very good season; but Chris Paul should've gotten the nod for carrying an unknown franchise to such great heights in a very tough western conference (IMHO). Should CP3 get a 98 or 99 for that in next version's game? I don't think so. His teammates should get a raise in points of 1 or 2 to reflect Paul making them a better team...then allowing Paul to be a better player in 2K9 then he was in 2K8.
You think if the Lakers win the title this year that all the Lakers will stay the same and Kobe will be raised to 99? No...it's a team game...and the Lakers again...did not get better because of Kobe...they got better because of the addition of Pau Gasol...allowing your Mamba to open it up on the floor....what liability does Gasol have (or will have) that's causing Kobe to win it all for the Lakers to this point; because all you Kobe lovers think about is Kobe...
It's funny how people forget and just repeat what other Kobe lovers say like sheep. Bah.

I agree. I dont see how people can hate on kobe ether. Yes he is cocky, but he is no trash talker.
The games he has had so far against Utah and Denver were out of this world. The guy is the most talented player to ever play the game. Even though Jordan is still the best, Kobe deserves more love the next game
Dont mean to hate on LeBron but LeBron is doing real crappy right now against the C's.
LeBron cant play against defensively good teams.

With all due respect. Kobe is very talented and it's good that he got a MVP award...but maybe it would've been better to say he's the most talented player YOU'VE ever seen play the game.
There's been talented players way back in the past who were just as talented; but MORE dominant with less around them. Dr. J was talented enough to carry a whole league and team to great heights...there were others before him too. Don't hate on the old skool players and dismiss them as having no game ...as I'm assuming you've never seen these guys play before.
They've shown the same individual talent that Kobe has in their day...yet their teams did better then the Kobe led Lakers have..(referring to the Kobe Lakers minus Shaq).
Kobe is a great player with great talent...but he is not God of the NBA...which some of you all make him out to be; because you're in such awe.
You can give a player his due without going overboard..and in not going overboard you might see his flaws...but over 85% of Kobe lovers will see him as pefection personified....but again to that...what has a great player as that done for his team minus individual awards???
Respect the game..not the player...

on a real note..... Kobe Bryant is an unbelievable superstar athlete/ basketball player... he has fundamentally changed the Los Angeles Lakers and even given the front office a boost to quit sitting on their hands... granted he is their money maker... you have to respect what he has done in the league... he is one of few players that reached 3 NBA titles at such a young age.. who cares if they had Shaq.. yes Shaq did help them tremendously but the organization saw something in Kobe... Kobe IS the next Michael and could very well surpass his greatness in some statistical catagories.. I hate people that bash Kobe.. yes I am a fan and have been since he came into the league...
He is the deserving winner of the MVP award... simply because of what he does on the court... someone please tell me who can shut him down... because you saw Denver and Utah change defenders over and over again only to have Kobe dominate them... hmm, this kinda reminded me of some guy that played in Chicago...
so you Kobe haters just keep in mind what he does on the floor... i dont discriminate against any player because they are all pretty incredible but it takes one to stand out and change the game of basketball drastically... and people tune in just to watch him... hmmm.... its a reminder..... Kobe is the revolution in basketball and will be until someone else better comes along....
btw.... Kobe is one of the leagues biggest trash talkers... he just does in discreetly.... oh my.... hmmm, like some guy that wore a 23 in red and black..... but seriously... how can you HONESLTY not see what this player does and the ability and skill he has.... court vision, shot selection.... defense... (all NBA Defense Team 9 yrs....) he plays the game at the highest mark and nobody has been there since His Airness... so give Kobe time and he will become a legend....(like after this year).... so for those who dont know basketball.... stick to watching tennis or some ****... and quit flooding NBA forums with your lack of knowledge...
(oh, i do hate Sam Cassel though... he is such a *******....) haha haha (that was supposed to be funny, so you cassel fans dont get your panties in a wad... its a god damn forum..)

like i said.... keep watching tennis....
as far as the game goes.... my god.... the man was scoring champ 2 yrs in a row... he can score at will.... he not only makes the players around him play a little better... (cause the Lakers are freakin stacked...and good enough)... he makes the defenders and rivaling offensive threats try to step up their game... he adds competition to the game...
he is the #1 Jersey seller.. (and yea that could mainly be because of the number change a couple of years ago)... but umm, lets see.... media icon... business and corporate mogul... where else do I need to go with this....
ever heard of Tiger Woods.... god... some of you people really have no knowledge of sports.... seriously.. stop posting... let people that can have legitimized comments post, quit filling forums with you stuff... its ignorance... go to college... haha....
as far as titles goes.... Individuals do not win them... granted i would love to say that Kobe did it all.. its a team effort... and it takes a pretty good team... and the Lakers finally got that.... and that makes your superstar hunger more to become a Champ... Kobe has flaws and the past years it has been trying to do it all... but the man has made huge strides to change... and btw he still performs at the top... and yes i can brag MVP MVP MVP!!!
(go ahead and quiz me on Laker trivia... im a far bigger Laker fan than I am Kobe... but THANK GOD WE GOT HIM.... thank you Charlotte...)

Okay...at least you're showing you can understand a little bit by stating it's a team game.
Now let's not mention Tiger in this and we'll make even more progress. Tiger & Golf is an individual sport. Kobe is not greater than basketball like Tiger stands out in golf. To kobe fans? Yes he does..but that doesn't mean anything to people who know basketball..lol (trust me)
If you guys could just enjoy kobe's talents and stop trying to match him up with MJ or Tiger..lol
Any way... I'm going to make this short & sweet; because I'm not going to get into any contest with a bunch of kobe lovers...
Going back to the main topic of this thread...they should not give kobe a 99 rating in 2k9 and drop everyone else. If they did..it wouldn't matter to me; because I'll still beat him and his lakers in this game with my knicks like I do 45% of the time (that's reality for you homes...)...and I would still shut down Kobe in games like I do 65% of the time (with my Knicks).
You want to tell someone to go watch tennis; but you want to match kobe up with a golfer...WTF...and you say you know what??? LMFAO..

Last year in the playoffs I believe I saw Kobe's true colors show. I can't remember what game it was against the Suns but he completely ruined the Lakers chances of winning that game. The ball was glued to his hands. He wasn't going to pass, and you could see it by the way he was playing. He was taking fade-aways over two defenders and totally forcing the acting. I swear at one point he must have taken 7 or 8 shots in a row, all misses and without passing once.
I don’t think this guy should be considered a legend for one reason. Trough thick and thin, legends retain their composure. They don't whine and complain about how terrible their teammates are. They play with what they have. Kobe hasn't done this. Of course now he has a great supporting cast and all of a sudden everything is fine and dandy. I wonder how long this will last.

the whole Tiger and golf thing was in relevance to your question about how I thought Kobe changed basketball.... he has opened up a totally new fan/media base... I will be the first to admit as an actual "NBA" fan... i didnt want to even watch a single game about 3 years ago, when the league was complete garbage.... then Kobe brought all his hype, complaints and everything else and used it to floor his talents to become better and engage a new audience... half the crap that pro athletes ***** about is partially staged for a reason anyway.... look at that piece of garbage TO... umm, he is a handfull, yet he does what he does on the field to help his team....
as for the other guy that was trying to give an example about last year... umm have you saw the difference in talent between this year and last years lakers... if i was a mega superstar like Kobe I wold take 50 shots every game too... his teammates also shot around 30 percent from the field that game... its kinda like a killer insticnt thing... um... if my team is sucking and im good, im gonna try to get them back in the game... plus look who they were matched up against... a way better suns team... (cant say much for this year.., well, you could before the Shaq trade...)... but seriously man... look at box scores before you try to make a point...
but to clarify what the topic is about.... no Kobe shouldn't be a 99 and neither should anyse.one el.... you have to be UNGODLY to be a 99.... heck my college professors wont even get anywhere close to giving someone a 99 unless you are Einstein... a 98 is good enough.... heck Kobe cant miss anyway...
but for real.... nice try on trying to make me look like a fol... too bad you completely misunderstood the point i was getting at... Kobe is an icon in sports... he is climbing the ladder to becoming a legend... i would rather not compare him to MJ cause that is who I grew up watching and loved every second of it... and hopefully Kobe can be his OWN legend and his OWN star instead of the comparison thing... i use the comparison strictly based on what i see.... its undeniable... he even freakin sounds like him when he talks.... its crazy the comparison...
everyone complains... including the greats.... even MJ, Magic, Bird... they all had some sort of incident where they were not happy... and once satisfied they were ok... (if you wanted a ice cream cone and your mom said no, you would ***** as a kid untill you got one... then what would happen... you would be a happy little kid with ice cream everywhere... come on man... thats just how crap works... ) publicity...

Kobe Bryant has a shot to be better than Michael Jordan. You asked what has Kobe won without Shaq? What has Shaq won without a dominant guard on his side (Penny, Kobe, Wade)??? What has Jordan won without one of the greatest teams ever assembled???
Pippen- (A top 50 greatest player, and one of the best all-around and defensive players ever)
Rodman-( Possibly the greatest rebounder the NBA has ever seen, and a spectacular defender)
Kerr, Paxon, Hodges, (Some of the greatest shooters percentage wise ever in the NBA, not to mention Horace Grant, Bill Cartwright, Ron Harper, Tony Kukoc and Phil Jackson's triangle offense that won Shaq and Kobe 3 rings. Basketball is a TEAM sport period. Kobe had terrible team in 07, yet they still made the playoffs.
Kobe is more athletic than Jordan, But Jordan's basketball IQ will forever be unmatched. Lets not forget this man scored 81 points in a single game! I don't care if its a YMCA game, 81 points is amazing, yet this was accomplished in The NBA. He probably could have done it twice in the same season, but got sub'd out the 4th quarter against Dallas with 62 points I believe. Incredible. The only question that is relevant is can the student be greater than the teacher.

lol..Shaq won with a dominant guard by his side in Miami (but the dominant guard didn't win anything without Shaq before he got there)...Kobe didn't win anything without Shaq after he left...what would be the equation of that...because obviously basketball is a team sport...so is it more important to have a dominant guard in these two situations or a dominant Shaq..??? lol
I really could have a lot to say in referrence to the last two post...but I choose to keep the peace.....because it doesn't matter any more to me...I just refer to keep it on topic about the rating situation of kobe going from 98 to 99... in which that doesn't matter either...

and honestly, i see more potential in lebron than kobe. lebron has a much weaker supporting cast the kobe. let's see kobe carry a team like new jersey nets (without carter) and then we'll talk. look at his freakin supporting cast for crying outloud. gasol, odom, bynum, fishers 3pt danger? haha, that's some team with strong backups.
kobe can give me a rim job.
Lebron had a dunk and a lay up. He's just so big and he muscles everyone out of the way. He's a great player no doubt, but he has a long long ways to go to be mentioned with Mike and Kobe.

People dont realize how good of a team the Bulls had. They didnt dominate becuase of one player. They dominated becuase everyone played their roles perfectly and all had very very high basketball IQ. People always forget it took Jordan a good while to learn to trust his team mates.
Mike is the Goat, i wont ever deny that, but if people want to realize it or not, Kobe is right on his ***.

LMFAO its funny how many ppl jump on Kobe when they are winning and hes getting awards but these were the same ppl saying Kobe wasnt that good when he demanded a traded in the begining of the season. its crazy how many ppl jumped on the rockets, celtics, lakers banwaggon because of how the team is performing
I've been a ray allen and rashard lewis fan for years and I still am now. Only reason I even watch the celtics and magics play is because of them 2. Even when they were on seattle i was still a fan. I hate banwaggon fans

lol..Shaq won with a dominant guard by his side in Miami (but the dominant guard didn't win anything without Shaq before he got there)...Kobe didn't win anything without Shaq after he left...what would be the equation of that...because obviously basketball is a team sport...so is it more important to have a dominant guard in these two situations or a dominant Shaq..??? lol
yeah, but shaq never won anything without a dominant gaurd on his team. if kobe was the one being traded from the lakers instead of shaq, they would suck harder. or if shaq went to miami without d-wade, theyd suck.

Okay tell me where I said something different? ..then read the blue area again... What?? Is the deciding factor (what was more important..the dominanting C or SG in these two instances...)???? Is it not that Shaq was on both teams with Kobe & Dwyane Wade when he won those championships??? ...but without Shaq...has D-Wade or Kobe won a championship???
AM I saying Shaq is a one man force??? maybe that's what you're thinking...but I am not... I could care less about Shaq, Kobe or D-Wade...it's a team game and it takes the right combination...
am I impressed by all three players? talents??? yes I am..but I'm not a fan boy, don't have to be, and don't want to be...

It can be debated all day. If Garnett was on the Spurs, he'd probably have the 4 rings and Duncan wouldn't have any, yet If is nothing but speculation. Duncan is, and will always be the greatest power forward ever, because of his skill foremost, and his team + coach. Now Garnett has a team, lets see what he does. No excuses.

what im saying is, shaq was lucky enough to be traded to teams with all star gaurds. he cant win a championship himself. heck, phoenix were 1st round eliminated. phoenix had amare, nash, but no all star gaurd who can score like kobe or wade. shaq needs a player like that, so if hes a threat inside, which he always is, he cant be double teamed because of his partner in crime, kobe or wade. nash is a creator, sure he can shoot, but hes a streaky shooter, and not really a driving threat to score.
thats why shaq won titles in LA and Miami. and not on phoenix.

Don't you realize that Shaq is past his prime???? Jesus...!!! Can we get back to a little bit of reality???
Shaq who WAS DOMINANT (& in his prime) when he won the titles was more of a factor at getting those titles with Kobe & Wade... if you want to act like Shaq is the same player he was back then...then no wonder you feel like you do; but you have to come with reality....I hope you can see that...Shaq is a dinosaur now...he wasn't then... kapesh??? get it???? understand????

i didnt say kobe or wade could win one themselfes either.. like i said in my 1st post, its a combination thing.
and BY THE WAY, Shaq just had the best FG% season of his career (.611), hes averaging ony one less rebound than his career average, his best free throw percentage in his last 6 years (.513) and only 0.1 more turnovers than his career average.
if the suns got him the ball more, he could still be dominant. but they want him to be there to help rebound and make amare a bigger threat at PF. and to play some defence.
when shaq starts missing his easy shots, not rebounding, and sucking at everything, then you can tell me hes washed up. from those statistics, you cant tell me im wrong.

Kobe is good but not a 99... he is GREAT but no one is perfect. A rate of 98 is also to high but ok...
The two most underrated guys in the leauge are CP3 and David West. Then you have a whole lot of players on the Hornets squad that should be higher rated aswell but not as dramatically as CP3 and West.

You guys do know that 2K Sports doesn't give overall ratings right? I don't know how many times I've pointed this out, but there's absolutely no use in arguing over ratings. It's based on calculations of the player attributes. You can't directly control the calculations unless you mess with the player attributes. No one at 2K decides the overall figure, and it's basically a loosely tied statistic that doesn't mean anything. As long as the attributes match the player, that is all that matters.

But at that time Jordan was making more off of his shoes and clothes than his salary on the court. I don't think none of these dudes should be making 15-20 mil a year, no more than 5-10 mil a year. All of these squads wouldn't have problems with salary cap issues. The game ain't the same anymore. Kobe still a ballhog though, don't get it twisted, don't let the media fool you otherwise. As far as NBA 2k is concerned, Kobe's ratings are fine right where they are, cheezers already gun with him as it is, you really want his ratings to be 99? Kobe ain't perfect

I agree that no one should have a higher rating than 95. Kobe as well as Tim Duncan should be 94-95. Only superstars should get a 90+ rating, and stars like Boozer and Gasol should be in the high 80s.

Pleaaase people! I was only trying to show you that kobe is the best player on the planet right now and the best gets the highest rating even if its only a video game. Kobe could be an 80 in NBA 2k9 and I don't give a **** but please all the other players' ratings should be below that of his. Give the mamba his due and respect for being the best player on the planet 2k!
You see there two sides to this you are either on kobe's or the opposite. As a big laker fan since the showtime era of magic I did not like MJ but I respected the guy, I always wanted to check his overall rating every year in NBA live and from there I could gauge other player's rating was spot-on. So people who are kobe haters would always bash the guy, hey I did that too with michael but the point is we must accept the fact sooner or later that some guy we hate is a freakin basketball talent and the best in the world right now. Fortunately for me I'm on the best baketball player's side now.

Staying back on topic with this thread (from the last two threads....). Is it a custom to make each player that wins the MVP award the top rated player in the game...?
There's no statistical proof to that....and even with players having 1 or 2 points higher than another (in this case Kobe); does it make someone want to pick those other players over a Kobe in a draft league...?
So if you have Kobe w-h-o-r-e-s (and that doesn't neccessarily contain to everybody) on here now...scoring 60 pts in a game with him (and he's not even the highest rated player in the game); what do you need from a few more points raised so he can have the highest rated number by just visualization?
If you can make him this GREAT player by yourselves in this game..since the last 5 series of 2k going back.....what do you need from raising the bar of his over-all rating...?
Respect? The MVP award is not a 100% voted award...it's moreso a popularity contest in the end...because Kobe won it this year doesn't mean Paul should not have (& I am not a fan of CP3)...while Kobe is a great player....sometimes things happen due to senority...as maybe it's his time to be considered over a younger dude (like Paul) that has time to do the same...everyone on here comes claiming this same thing the first time their favorite player gets this award...and that was my reasoning for coming here to post the first time. To point that out.
So you all are telling me that Dirk should be the highest rated player on 2K8 or Nash should've been on 2K7 & 2K6??? How many of you are going to lie now to hold up your cause..??? LMFAO
No...only fanboys come on here saying it....lol...give it a rest. I suggest you use the god-given (little "g') talents that 2K dudes have given you to rise your own Kobe to the top. After all; if Kobe is as great as you say he is...then he used blood & sweat to get there...so you use your fingers on the controller to make it happen and stop asking for hand-outs from 2K sports...fronting like it's a respect thing...because you all weren't on here fighting for Dirk & Nash to be highest rated the past 3 years...

nope he did it after 3 i believe, just like kobe, and just like kobe, he didn't win em' by himself, people seem to forget shaq was THE biggest liability in the 4th quarter ever... someone had to hit those clutch shots while shaq was off the floor, enter mamba rob and fish...conference finals- Portland in 2000, San Antonio in 2001 and Sacramento in 2002
OMG:eek: .....someone who knows something about basketball!!!!!!!!!
Some of these people are ridiculous...you guys think Jordan is god or something, how is Kobe not at the same level? He can everything Jordan can and even shoot the 3 point shot. Everything else they can do the same. If you think Jordan is the greatest of all time, then I understand why you wont let anyone on the same level as him. But if you know anything about the game of basketball you would know that legends like Kareem, Wilt, Magic, Oscar, and Russell all dominated the game more than Jordan. I hate how people compare stats to prove an argument...it just doesn't work, anyone who knows something about basketball knows the stats don't tell the whole story.

Kobe is more talented...finally someone who agrees. Jordan is not the "best"...like I said before, Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Oscar, and Russell, all dominated the game more than him.

Who did Kobe have on his team for those years? Kwame Brown, and Smush Parker. It's bad enough those 2 are on the team, but for them to be starters is just horrible. Lakers minus Kobe = d-league team back then. You think Lebron's supporting cast is bad? Kobe's was way worse.

Paul carried his team more than kobe? kobe's team had inury problems on their key players(Bynum & Ariza) while the Hornets are mostly healthy throughout the entire season. kobe played all 82 games and carried his team into the top of the west despite having a hurt balls and a bad finger

yeah I agree lebron's mid range is overrated. He has no in-between game whatsoever. All he does is shoot threes and/or drive to the basket.
Give kobe respect 2k give him the best rating in your game next year. He is the best overall player in the NBA, he plays defense, and a much much better offensive player than lebron. They are not equals. Give the best player on the planet for the past 5 years the #1 rating.
I did not lobby for dirk or nash to get the highest rating in the years they won the MVP because they simply were not the best player on the planet. The only player that I would rate equal to kobe the past five years would be garnett and duncan.

We can keep it real. You are a hater. Stop hating on Kobe and argue the topic at hand. You have your nerve because you have to Knicks as your avatar. Before you comment on Kobe or anything that is Laker related make sure that your team is in good standing.
We can talk about how screwed Isaiah is
We can talk about how dumb Dolan is
We can talk about how you have the same player up and down your roster except for Lee
We can talk about how a lowly secretary set your franchise back 30 million
We can talk about how your best player is Jamal "all I do is gun" Crawford
We can talk about how Nate Robinson is a little idiot
We can talk about how your Knicks have disgraced MSG with their ghetto antics
Shall I go on?........Maybe but I won't because it has nothing to do with the topic at hand.
Wipe your own nose before you tell me I got something in mine!
This post made zero sense. lol.... so now I have to change my avatar to a top 5 team to be able to post about kobe... LMFAO at kobe w-h-o-r-e-s.... they're coming outta the wood-work. I'm not a front running bandwagoner homes... like you make yourself out to be with your post.
Kobe where he's rated is good enough. So now I'm a hater because I don't want to give him a point up in ratings.
Only thing U said that made half a sense is about "off-topic"...
The Knicks suck... but not when I use them on NBA2K8... I don't need then raised in rating... But you want more help with kobe.. (go figure)

Bandwagon will never sum me up homeboy. You wanna bag on Kobe and 95% of your supposed argument was hate driven by your ignorance. If you hate on someone make sure your team is in good standing is all I'm saying. If that doesn't make sense to you then maybe you should not post until it does. I've been a Laker fan since 1980 bro. There ain't a damn thing bandwagon about me. I spend about $2,000 yearly on tickets and other Laker merchandise for me and my sons. So get that bandwagon crap outta here son.
It's not about receiving more help with raising Kobe's attributes. It's about giving Kobe his just dues. It's people like you who are so afraid that if you recognize Kobe's dominance somehow Michael Jordan will find out and cut you out the fan club. Kobe is a once in a life time player and if you keep hating on him without any reason you are only missing out on history.
Also, if you get technical..........Kobe is better than Jordan.
Kobe's ball handling is superior
Kobe's jump shot, Range and Accuracy is superior
Kobe's more athletic
Kobe is more skilled on the perimeter.
Kobe is stronger than Jordan
Kobe faces stronger competition physically and mentally at the SG position than Jordan ever did.
The only area where Kobe is playing catch up to Mike is personal accolades.
But the difference between Kobe and Jordan is that Kobe could care less if people like you appreciate him and Jordan made a serious effort to please people like you.
Falling in love with Kobe doesn't mean breaking up with Jordan
But all I just said means nothing because you are a Knicks fan:rotfl:

Man you need to stop trying to be a comedian and debate like you have some sense about you.
What would it hurt for Kobe to be recognized for being the best player in the game by getting a 99? What if they gave him a 100? The seperation between Kobe others players is greater than what attributes reflect anyway so what's the big deal to you? Answer these questions without being a child. Debate what I offered earlier as evidence as to why Kobe is better than Jordan. Argue these things and explain them without acting like a child.
Seperate your dislike for Kobe and debate basketball. I don't like Larry Bird but I recognize his greatness and have no problem giving him credit where it's due.

This thread should've been closed with this comment ^^ , Oh ya the Kobe war started prior to it so I am gonna attempt to end all this crap, D-WADE is the best guard in the world, he doesn't have a three 3 game but he still drops buckets and he is a hell of a playmaker and very good defensively.

Nice try but Kobe isn't better than Jordan. Kobe has never played again triple teams from the Bad Boy Pistons. It's easy for a lot of people to say that Kobe's better because most of these people were never around in the late 80s and early 90s. They know Michael Jordan for his shoes and Space Jam and all that rubbish stuff; not for how he dominated against teams that sent three players to guard him.
Kobe's rating should not be 99. Ratings should not be higher that 96, so that there would be room for improvement in Association Mode.

I can't stand the comparison's between MJ and Kobe! I personally think their pointless and have no meaning to them.
Kobe plays the game in a way no-one in the last 10 years has seen. But we'll still see it until the game or an individual changes the game in the same way Michael Jordan did.
Michael Jordan changed the game no-one else has, since they started dunking! And how long ago was that??? That's once in a lifetime!!!! If you don't know what i'm talking about, then you missed out on a big slice of History.

Thing is you really think you know what you're talking about, but you don't homie...not when it comes to me...
The reference to "Ghetto Dr. Phillis" was in reference to you saying someone's acting like a "semi-ghetto goon"...but I guess that's the adult thing to say...but when someone comes back to you, then they're acting like a child (and they need to grow up)... the sooner you check yourself the better you'll be able to be a better influence on your kid or kids (trust me on that)...
Kobe is one of the best players in the league...I've known basketball for a long time (longer than your 1980's love for the Lakers); but that doesn't make me an authority on this board...nor does your luv for kobe make you...or the fact that you feel (your own words) you have to be floating with a winning team to be able to say something...We can keep it real. Kobe is one of the top 5 athletes in the NBA to me...I'm not hating on his game...if any of the other athlete's I feel are up there with him shot as many times as he did...had the ball in their hands as many times as he did...then I could see them having a bigger fan base...
I could care less what you think about MJ vs kobe... so why should I even debate it... I'm not enamored by either, yet they both are great players...yet they aren't the only two players who've ever laced up the sneaks...
topic is rating in 2K9...which is all matter of opinion...not your supposed intelligeance..or who you think is better kobe vs MJ...
Kobe should be rated just as high and even with maybe 3 other athletes in this game...it's then the user that chooses how to utilize him (to take him to the next level)...he1l..someone can take Paul Pierce in this game and score 65 points with him if they wanted...
I really don't care for your love of kobe....it's not convicing me of anything, any more than any other kobe w-h-o-r-e would say or convince me....

You keep bringing up how long I've been a Laker fan as if it bothers you. I'm starting to believe that you are a young kid who is trying to talk big. You have a very hard time trying to express yourself without calling people names and being condescending.
The FACT is that Kobe will probably be a 99 coming up this year. What I find so amusing is that your blood is boiling at the thought of it. But what I can't understand is what difference it makes to you? Kobe's rating is not going to affect how you use your Knicks. The foundation of your argument is that you can take any player and score whatever with him or do whatever so what's your REAL beef here?
As far as players being as effective as Kobe by shooting more........LOLLOLLOLOLLOLOLOLO!!!!!!!
Kobe is much more than a scorer man. He impacts the game more as just a threat while on the floor because his game ranges from basket to half court. Everyone in the league doesn't have the basketball IQ or range of skill to be able to attack the way Kobe does.
But go ahead and call me a Kobe w h o r e again( the Mods all this type of talk) because you can't debate without acting like a child.

(A) Guess you're very selfconsious to feel this way. What reason on God's green earth would I have a problem with you being a fan of the Lakers..and for how long..? There are much more important issues in life. You leave yourself open for jokes bythe things you come up with...and when I do laugh you get upset...so I won't post any lol's...(<don't count that one).
(B) And this is very hypocritical of you. If you go back and read the thread you jumped in way after I started posting, and you also jumped in with the names. Mentioning kobe w-h-o-r-e-s is not directed at you (at least nt in the beginning until you started showing your hypocritical side); but if you want to carry it personal...then that's your calling to that...
(C1 & C2) Fact and probably don't belong together in that sentence...one is "true" and one is "possible"...unless you have proof of the new rating in NBA2K9 for each player...you need to stick to using just "probably" (as in your opinion)...
(D) You need to ditch the job of trying to be an analyst; this is hardly serious...
(E) Funny how you can start calling for the mods when you get your own words used against you...and when you call people ghetto goons, you had no thought of calling on the mods...
Pretty much everythng else you've said in this post is irrelavent and pretty much disagreeable anyway........but as always...most people who adore kobe bryant take things to the extreme...
Go ahead and adore and worship him...
It doesn't matter what they rate him in 2K9...but fans of their favorite players always want them to be rated the highest....and they'll say anything to hope athat it sounds like their making valid points to that cause... (<notice no laughing out loud inserted here....kept my word)...

All you are doing is deflecting my points without proving me wrong. I'm not some 15 year old kid here trying to just bash you. I came at you initially asking you to check your own team and situation before you ventured into Laker Land. You took me as a kid as proceeded to try to out wit me. That didn't work so now you are playing the deflect game without even trying to talk basketball or debate my points regardless of my view. I thought you were the man? I thought you were insightful the way you talk to the kids here? I guess I was wrong? I thought by the way you carry yourself with the kids here I could engage in a articulate and meaningful basketball convo with you? I guess I was wrong. Don't ever judge a book by it's cover again man. I am a Laker fan and Kobe is my favorite player BECAUSE he's a Laker. Don't get it twisted man. There ain't a fanboy bone in my body. But I'll go to bat for any other Laker past or present for justification on their part. This ain't a Kobe thing, this is a Laker thing for me. I can't speak for everyone else here but I've been through 4 rebuilding phases with my Lakers and I plan to be around for a lot more. Being a Laker fan for me is bigger than just Kobe. It's part of my life. So I would appreciate if if you fixed how you come at me concerning the Lakers because we are as Big as anything else in sports and are a power house that transcends all races, cultures, and sexes. We are the truth.
If you wanna talk hoops on a higher level holla at me. If you wanna play big brother to all the kids here then continue on. But when you run across me give me my respect and I'll gladly return the favor.

whats his weakness point em out and you can deduct if from 100..but he gotta get a 99 or a benjamin frank..arguably the most talented hoops player of all time..i said talented..hate to say it but not even mj had that deep jumper..athletic ability at 30 ..and he does it in a league that is allowed to play zone d inorder to take the one man show out of the nba.. give him a whole..and forget it 100

obviously..not a laker fan..but hey i just saw home skillet drop 27 second half wit 10 dimes...and remember he had 81 bfore..only player who can single handedly beat you in every fascit of the game..def. from the arc..from the baseline ..from the post..he finishes in the paint..he finishes above the rim..mid range is flawless..he got madd handles..he makes creative passes..(remember the rap around to gasol in first round)he makes his teamates better..hey if anyone gets a 100 on any video game it has to be kobe..there is nobody in any sports game that deserves a higher rating..he's at this point the pennicle of his sport..unguardable un flappable..put 50 on em with 9 fingers..drop 81 wit a **** case pending and baby mama drama..put 27 on the best man-up defender in the game..who should get a 99 n man up def rating (bruce bowens) in one half..what's his weekness..
whats his weakness point em out and you can deduct if from 100..but he gotta get a 99 or a benjamin frank..arguably the most talented hoops player of all time..i said talented..hate to say it but not even mj had that deep jumper..athletic ability at 30 ..and he does it in a league that is allowed to play zone d inorder to take the one man show out of the nba.. give him a whole..and forget it 100
Nothing but the damn truth. People kill me talking as if Jordan was the best player of alltime crap. There are a couple guys named Magic Johnson and Oscar Robertson who can make serious and strong arguments for the goat crown.
I 'm not going to continue arguing this stuff about who's better between Kobe and Jordan because it gets personal. I followed Jordan his whole career and I'm a big fan but he's not better than Kobe. Kobe is an assassin on the court and Jordan does not have the arsenal that Kobe has. Jordan was fantastic from 20 ft an in but Kobe will destroy from half court to the bucket.

LMAO younster. How the **** do u come to the conclusion Kobe is stronger then MJ???From 91 on Mj could post up kobe easily. He does it hear http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ho_hm5ndJ4g when he was on the wizards(No thats not Mj kobe is backing down in that vid) also he post him up routinly in the allstar game and in the gms in 97-98 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvJywRV9P0w LMFAO Mj is a career 50% shooter and kobe is around 46% career shooter. How the hell is kobe more atlethic???He can't even jump from the FT line.LOL more skilled perimeter player.seriously did u just watch sportcenter and thoufght mj just dunked on people.Mj midrange shot was water for example. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpNwtmudALQ better ball handler??????? How old are u seriously?/Did u even watch MJ at all. Please message me and i will show u some games by Mj because pure nonsense of wat u say is crazy.LOL also Mj playoff stats destroys kobes stats.
Pure comedy calling me a youngster when you type like you are using your Mom's Boost mobile to text your boyfriend.
Who gives a crap who can jump from the freethrow line? Jumping from the freethrow line is not an indication of athletic ability moron. I 'm well aware of Jordan's capabilities and shortcomings.
Kobe is a lower % shooter because he shoots from all over the court buddy. Stop with the bogus hate. Stop trying to use stats to support your stance because stats are misleading due to the different eras.
His game is not as smooth as Kobe's either. The only thing holding Kobe back from taking firm hold of the goat status his rings. Kobe has accomplished it all.
You want a fun stat. Kobe is the only SG besides Jordan to win the MVP award.
It's about to get very serious. Kobe is about to solidify himself as the goat within the next 6 years. There ain't no need to get all ****y about it either.
I remember my grandfather hated Jordan because he felt like Jordan was a threat to Julius Erving. But he eventually let that hate go and recognized Jordan as the truth.
Now I hope you can do the same for Kobe because his time is now.

LOL about Kobes game being smoother than Jordans. Man please. Jordan Had some of the best footwork ever displayed on the basketball court. I aint saying either one is better than the other homie cause thats too tough a call to make, but Kobe is definately not a clear shot better than Jordan in any aspect of the game.

Never claimed to know it all, just know what I'm talking about.
Kobe game is way more athletic than Jordan's based on the fact that Kobe can attack the defense in more ways thatn Jordan could while using the same blueprint that Jordan laid down.
Kobe has more variations of the fadeaway in his arsenal
Kobe has better handle in traffic
Kobe has better upper body control when shooter his jumper
Kobe's legs are stronger (reason why his long range jumper is still money late in the game)
Don't take this personal because I have nothing but love for Jordan. But when it comes to talent versus talent Kobe is better than Jordan.
Jesus man, Kobe plays against a zone and bigger/quicker defenders and still gets to the bucket when he needs to.
Jordan never faced the defenses that Kobe faces. You might argue that Jordan faced the Badboys and the Knicks. Fine. But those were brute defenses with hired hitmen who Jordan manipulated basketball wise because when it came down to it hoops is hoops.
Jordan has never seen dinosaur sized perimeter defenders who have a zone protecting their weak side like Kobe has to face.
I'm not here to bash Jordan but the truth is the truth man. Mike was the man during his time but that's done.
I wish Gerald Wilkins, John Starks, Clyde Drexler, Craig Ehlo, Hersey Hawkins, or any other SG that Jordan played against would try to defend Kobe without a zone.
My goodness! Don't you realize how bad Kobe would have destroyed the league if he played during Jordan's era. MY GOODNESS!
Kobe plays during the era of the Jordan offsprings. Everyone has been influenced by Mike during Kobe's era. Mike is the mold for todays Scoring guard. But this is what Kobe faces.

ummm..what game has Kobe changed?...Kobe hasn't done anything to change the game...that's reserved for folks that win titles and make teams emulate them.
lol... Kobe's a great talent. But he has changed nothing. He's MVP this year...be happy with that...
Ahhh, I love people like you.
First and foremost, Kobe Bryant has COMPLETELY revolutionized the way NBA teams play defense against players as talented as him, which is why he is the only one that you see these defenses against. Have you ever seen a player that could TOUCH a ball and immediately have another defender forcing him to the sideline, one in front of him, two post cheating their men just in case the double team Kobe WILL split needs help, and to top that off, the other perimeter defender sagging way off of his assigned man?
Whenever he touches the ball it basically becomes a variation of 5 on 1 defense. Saying that he's changed nothing like a Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Kareem, Dantley, etc is not just stupid, but a borderline retarded statement to make.
People like you tend to over rate the older players, of whom you, yourself, probably haven't watched, to lengths FAR greater than they were. Sure, these players were good, but to compare them to the athletes of today is a joke, simply because they would not be doing the stuff they were doing back in there day. "Doctor J" and Magic are my favorite players of all time, so I know a little about old school ball(especially from the insane amount of basketball and basketball history I watch).
Kobe is already the best pure scorer of all time, is better than West(based on statistics alone), Baylor, Doctor J, etc, and he has to play against the toughest defense to stop superstars in the modern and pre-modern era of basketball. Thinking otherwise is, quite frankly, foolish.
In fact, people say Jordan would average 50 in todays game due to no handchecking/other defensive tools that should still be in the game, but what if Kobe played back in the day when what teams are doing to him now(Jordan's era) was illegal defense? Kobe 1 on 1 today is pretty much guaranteed points, but him 1 on 1 all game?! You'd best believe he'd probably be second to MJ or rivaling him for first right now without a doubt.
Jordan would have fared well in todays game(in his prime) and would probably still be the best of all time, but I can tell you for a fact he wouldn't have won six titles in todays game, as many scoring titles, defensive player of the year(as the energy he'd have to expend on offense would leave him drained), and he wouldn't look like the basketball God he was due to his lack of range and inability to effectively and consistently stretch a defense with the 3-point shot.
Jordan isn't even what made Jordan as great as he was. The media, with its fire to market him, was..

(A) All you are doing is deflecting my points without proving me wrong. (B) I'm not some 15 year old kid here trying to just bash you. I came at you initially asking you to check your own team and situation before you ventured into Laker Land. (C) You took me as a kid as proceeded to try to out wit me. That didn't work so now you are playing the deflect game without even trying to talk basketball or debate my points regardless of my view. I thought you were the man? I thought you were insightful the way you talk to the kids here? I guess I was wrong? (D) I thought by the way you carry yourself with the kids here I could engage in a articulate and meaningful basketball convo with you?
(E) If you wanna talk hoops on a higher level holla at me. If you wanna play big brother to all the kids here then continue on. But when you run across me give me my respect and I'll gladly return the favor.
Now to put answer to the rainbow:
(A) You didn't make any points...and of couse you think you're right again (so no one can "prove" you wrong in your eyes...)
(B) That statement of "checking my own team; before I venture into "LakerLand" sounds even younger then a 15 year old...I don't know how old you are....nor do I care...it's not important....but what is important, is to be able to distinguish facts from personal opinion...which you seem to don't understand very well...
(C) You are truly a winner...everyone's out to get you...to try to outwit you...but of course as long as you don't come out looking dumb, then that's what's all important to you; because you have to make it a point that you were not "outsmarted"....check that carefully against your portfolio....when you come on here making comments of opinion as if they're fact (with no evidence as such), you're going to get challenged...remember, I posted long way ahead of you in this thread...you came at me..I didn't ask you to join...now you're mister perfect trying to defend yourself...trying to defend kobe...trying to defend your longevity of being a Laker fan...and in the end your defense is...somebody didn't do something to you...
(D) Articulate and meaningful basketball convo was way lost at "checking my own team before I venture into LakerLand"...."semi ghetto goon"....& "kobe is the best ever, greater than Jordan".... if you want to talk articulate and meaningful; then I'd advise you to come down to earth...(& don't think I'm an MJ fan because I said that...)
(E) Higher level hoops are not discussed on a video game message board graced with a wide range of ages and attitudes, plus cultural differences to name a few....that's the first mistake....because anyone trying to have an intellectual argument or debate will get flammed from all ends...this is a forum where video games are discussed...and issues dealing with them....for real-life basketball issues I discuss on forums that aren't infiltrated by ton's of people who grab a joystick and go at it....for the most part they watch basketball and play it....have coached it...not enamored by a video game in any sense of the imagination....Respect is earned and not given...I told that to my boss one day (because they thought it was something they were required to have coming right out of college); yet we mutually respect each other now....being that I'm an understanding person, and still know how to work & survive...I don't need to debate any basketball issues with you...articulate...or whatever...your continued posting is leaving a lot to be desired in that area with your "Boost Mobile", and kobe is greater than MJ comments....
So for the most part, I'm done with posting with you...this whole thread started is about player ratings and not your personal likes and dislikes, or how you feel you need respect...get a grip...this is a video game...and a video game forum...

How can Kobe attack the defense more ways??LOL they played Zone back then too also they had bigs roam around in the paint because of no 3 second rule.LMAO The defenders back then played the same way.The Knicks played great team defense thats why they were ranked #1.They started hitting the Bulls because they couldn't stop MJ.similar to how the wizards and the celtics hit LJ with hard fouls.LOL wat do u call Hakeem the dream, patrick ewing, david robinson,Shaq etc.... I guess they wasn't big??LOL at ur Zone nonsense first of all Great defensive teams play man to man which sometimes come to trap when needed.Look at the spurs and pistons they play man to man with great rotations on shooters. They know how to come help on drives.Zone defense is barley played in the nba and ushally used when the team wants to try something because they can't stop a certain player.
What fadeaways does Kobe has that MJ doesn't do??LOL Mj has batter handles and he averged less TO too.How do u know who has better uperbody control?? where are u getting this info from??Kobe legs is not stronger and he can't even jump from the ft line.LOL alot of teams play kobe without zones.he ushally gets played one on one until he gets hot and they start double and traps just like they did to mj.one thing kobe needs to work on is his close out defense.Ask any lakers fan he gives too much room and his shot selection needs work too.I been watching kobe from his roookie year.
Mj is the better defender, averges more stls, blks, asts, and rebs. His playoff stats are greater then kobe.MJ finals stats are better.

Let me summarize then
-Mj was averging 25ppg on 46% in 01-02 at the age of 39.Do you really think a prime Mj would not be dominate in this era, when he put up all-star worthy #s in the twilight of his career?
-LJ and D-wade play similar to MJ did. They both rely on their driving abilty.D-wade is most like Mj because he takes it o the hoop 90% time or pulls up for a mid range jumper. The differnce with them and Mj is mike had better footwork and a wayyy better back to the basket moves.
-LJ and dwade FT% hurt their PPg, but Mj was a good FT shooter which would increase his ppg.
-Dwade won a chip playing that style of BB.LJ made it to the finals, but couldn't make an mid range jumpshot to save his life.Bruce Bowen relized this and back off him which forced him to make jumpers, but couldn't do.(which MJ could.)
-MJ was played this style of BB from his rookie year.He was relentless going to the basket while making his midrange shots. This is some highlights of MJ has a rookie http://youtube.com/watch?v=i9bzrWTff5U

Your entire post is flawed seeing as MJ restructured his ENTIRE game as he got older so that he was a jumpshooter. He played nothing like he did in his prime. If you go back in my other post, you would see I said he would likely still be the greatest of all time in this era, too. But saying Kobe can't hold a candle to him because he has 3 less championships? Hahahahaha, since when did championships become an accurate barometer for actual playing ability?
The league isn't like it was, even when Jordan played in 01-02. If he really wanted to try relentlessly going to the basket, as he did in his prime, ALL his averages would be down in this era(albeit not much, mostly scoring), just because defenses can clog the lane now when in his time that was an illegal defensive set on a basketball court.
And this isn't even mentioning how Mike would have fared with the numerous defenses Kobe has thrown at him.
I'm not even saying he's better than Michael in terms of actual ability, but if you don't think it's close then you are kidding yourself.

When did i say anything about MJs rings making him better then kobe???Dwade plays very similar to Mj with a lower Ft% and very averge defense.MJ had a midrange shot since his rookie year which is all u need.In the 80s and 90s bigs could roam around in the lane because of no 3 sec rule which made it harder to get a uncontested shot. What the hell are u talking about numurous defenses??MJ faced the same damn defense with handchecking, traps and doubles.Name me one team that has used Zone defense this playoffs, but the celtics in the series against cle??That was like only like 5% of the time. They used doubles and traps to stop him not Zone. The pistons and the spurs play man to man with weak side help or doubles and traps if needed.Show me this so called Zone defense that will stop Mj show me the defense teams barley use all year. Please read this article http://espn.go.com/nba/s/2001/0412/1171902.html Zone defenses are used only a few times the whole season.Watch the spurs, pistons, rockets etc... and u will see u have no clue WTH ur talking about. It's all about rotation, traps, doubles wtc... Who the hell uses Zones??? especially in the playoffs?

-Also u didn't respond to my post that was directed towards you. Please respond, well you can't really respond because i posted facts, but atleast try to.lol
This is exact reason why Dwade and Lebron are not viewed as complete ballplayers.
Slashing to the basket relentlessly is not Championship basketball. Dwade got his ring because the refs but raped the Mavs for Shaq's benefit.
The Spurs zoned Lebron..........Gameover
Jordan did not play anywhere near a championship level until 1991. That's when when he ditched the wreckless out of control style that made him famous and started using his teammates and other parts of his game. Also, Jordan was forced to change his style because his body was already breaking down due to the wreckless style of play that made him famous.
Jordan was 30 when he was forced to change his game and had been in the league 7 years and still wasn't an all-around player like you claim.
Kobe has been in the league 12 years now and is still getting better. Kobe is better physical specimen. Kobe has been playing High level basketball since 1998. Kobe honed his game to be a all-around game from the start. This is why Kobe is going to have a more productive career because Kobe understood that the knees are the first to go.
Nobody is saying that Jordan wouldn't be effective if he played today but he would be viewed in the same light as Dwade and Lebron........Good players but just not all-around players.
Matter-o-factlty, I think a lot of people have distorted memories of Jordan. People would have broken hearts if Jordan played now because they would see how one sided his game actually was. Defenses would force Jordan out to the perimeter where he's not effective.
I can feel you bringing up Wade and Lebron again........Here we go....
Wade had great floor spacing created by shaq and outside shooters. But he still can't stay healthy. This is why Jordan took those beatings in his career.....he had no choice because his game wasn't rounded. Same with Lebron!
Have you ever seen a defense dictate how Kobe is going to attack? Let me answer, NO YOU HAVE NOT!
I'm not interested in watching your youtube videos of Jordan because I have plenty of DvD's with the same footage.
You keep bringing up Jordan playing with the Wizards. Why do you think Jordan kept getting hurt?????????? At the age of 39 his game should have been evolved enough to where he was a threat anywhere on the court. The only reason Jordan even made the allstar game those two years is because the fans voted him in the first year and someone stepped aside the next. I remember Paul Pierce and Vince Carter were upset because Jordan didn't deserve it.

-If u don't want to watch my proof vids then please just stop responding to me please
-Mj got injured because he was 39 u idiot.LMAO When he was on the wiz he used post moves has his jumpshot. So how does his style make him get injured.
-dwade is injured prone in Mj prime he wasn't injured prone.
-lol first of all u know noting about Mj career. In his rookie year Mj passed the ball alot and in his 3rd year he got kinda selfish because his teamates sucked bad(He was sometimes selfish at times taht season)88 was a repeat of 87, but he passed a little bit more and was DPOTY.In 89 He got a new coach and he listened to him and averged 8 asts and was plaing great until he reached the pistons who always beat him.Mj took the 89 defeat to pistons and went nuts and got his coached fired. In 1990 Mj felt like he had to do it himself and in the begining He didn't listen to Phil jackson, but he did mid way through the season. This was the first year MJ came close to a chip.he went 7 gms with the pistons, but scottie had an headache went 1-10.They loss.
-LOL Mj still went to the basket alott. He just had a better midrange shot so he used it.Mj had a total of 671 Fts that year.He was going to the basket just like every year.PhilJackson system also helped him.
-Stop blaming the refs Dwade won and Dallas lose.
-LOL spurs didn't play Zone.Bowen plyed him one one one and just backed off and let him shoot.

Nobody nowday (except very few) in the NBA put any real empahsis on playing real defense like back in the day, Jordan would had a field day with these teams we have today. Kobe is easliy destroying teams and enjoying it too.

Hey, yeah Kobe should be a 99...personally I think he should be handed a very 1st 100 overall. But, back to reality...Kobe should be a 99 as well as some other players in the league. I'm a huge Kobe fan...but I'll say only probably 5-6 ppl in NBA should get hit with a 99 rating, but the only thing is that they need to seperate how they all play from a 99 rating...Chris Paul turns into a passer-lobber and scorer....while LeBron turns into a attacker of the basket...while Kobe will start firing away no matter who's on him or where he's at on the court

Kobe_Bryant81...Finally someone agrees with me!!! THANK GOD... Kobe was playin with Kwame and Smush, and to top it off Kobe made them look good. I never gave up on the Lakers, but I said, "Once the Lakers find a way to give up Kwame, they would win a title" And as ya'll see this year no first round exit. One win away from the Finals. Now you tell me if it's Kobe? Then Smush had to nerves to say that "D-Wade is more of a people's person on the court" D-Wade don't even wanna play to the Heats no more after last season. Only reason Smush was tradeable was cause of Kobe Bean Bryant. Call it what you want, but call it...Kobe Bryant is the one, if not the Greatest Player to ever play basketball. So many players and GMs in the league said they would love to have Kobe on their team. They don't give a damn about what happened 3-4 years ago. I mean damn...Kobe had sports analyist saying the Kwame and Smush was a factor on the court. Kwame is the worst ever 1st overall pick and player to touch the NBA. Hell, if you gonna miss open dunks and lay-ups at least make the damn free throw. I didn't wanna be the one to say this though..."Kobe reasons for his early season demands was a way to say, Kwame needs to go" Its either him or me...What's it gonna be?

But all I just said means nothing because you are a Knicks fan:rotfl:
i HAD to sign up to reply to this one. Have you ever seen jordan play? Did you ever watch OTHER games in the same era? I am not a jordan fan. i actually hated him when he played and only started to like him after he retired the last time. When you talk about winning. it is a team sport yes i agree. Jordan had some very good players on his teams. Pippen was very good at his role. take jordan away for one year and what happened. the same team without him didnt win. jordan never had a very good supporting cast AND the most dominant center in the league like kobe did. I dont want too much NBA today on TV. but what i do know is that ALMOST no one plays defense now. Jordan was dropping 40 on the knicks back then. Imagine Kobes soft self playing against those teams with ewing in his prime, oakley, charles smith and them. Kobe couldnt even handle chris childs (remember that 2 piece he gave kobe lol) He, like most other of todays stars, would have been dominated. jordan didnt score 40 points a night shooting 5-20 with 25 points from the free throw like most nights. He hit his shots and jordan, or anyone for that matter back then, getting to the rim to dunk or layup was MUCH harder then it is today. and we know using personl stats when comparing usually isnt good but in this case they both have multiple rings so i WILL bring up personal stats. Come back to me when Kobe or lebron or any of the NEXT JORDANS avg 30 pts per game 7 years in a row and 8 out of 9. i mean the man averaged 37 ppg shooting 48% in his 3rd season. Kobes only done it TWICE in his whole career. kobe isnt even the scorer that allen iverson is. and iverson is 3 feet tall and 40 pounds lol. dont get me wrong. kobe IS a great player. But he isnt michael jordan. Imagine MJ with a Hakeem on his team or ewing. he would have never lost a game. if anyone really cares i am a celtic fan. Yes its been a long time of suffering. Many years of Dee Browns and Dana Barros lol. Im finally happy we MIGHT make it back to the finals. Lakers VS Celtics would be great. Even great because with PJ Brown gets in the game there are NO FREE LAYUPS. Hear that KObe. if you come to the basket and PJ is down there be prepared to be fouled like it was 1996. LOL

STFU......
Seriously....Chris Paul carried his team more than Kobe? Are u kidding me.....Who is in the NBA Finals right now? CP3 got bounced in 7 games by the same team Kobe just bounced 4-1. So who is your MVP? Yeah...I know it's a season award, but fools need to get real and face the facts. Kobe was better than CP 3 this year, the Lakers were better than the Hornets, the lakers had the best record in the west, and the Lakers are still in the Playoffs. So what is your point?

Are you kidding me? Kobe is better skilled than jordan. What jordan got in his prime was only a consistent fadeaway jumper. Kobe has an overall better skill set because he has better range than jordan ever did. Jordan had handles, can pass the ball, athletic ability to create impossible shots in mid-air, play defense, the fadeaway, but guess what? kobe has them too you blind moronic fanboy. no one shouldn't be rated 99, I don't care who it is I say 95 and on down, dat's ridicilous to be a 99 overall rating, I mean Kobe ain't the best Passer in the league nor is he the best rebounder, or shot blocker, now I did notice 2ksport's base rating's off of the player's position and his ability to play it, which is good, so if Kobe's a 99 shooting guard trust me he ain't gonna be a 99 if you change his position to Power Forward, Center or Point Guard... I mean come on you guy's should have picked up on dat, I actually went through and changed every player's primary and secondary position to there acutal postion and got a different rating try that on for size for realism... But I say 95 is the highest for any player unless you God in this game...

What can Kobe do better than Jordan?
Better range? Barely. Jordan shot 32.7% from the arc in his career. Kobe has shot 34.0% in his career. There's not much difference there.
Handles: Kobe is in his prime and for this season he averaged 3.13 turnovers a game. The last time Jordan averaged over 3 turnovers was the 1989-90 season, his 6th season. So Jordan had a better handle of the ball than Kobe does.
passing: Kobe's career high for assists per game was 6.0 (4.09 turnovers as well) in 2005. Jordan's was 8.0 in 1989. Kobe's career average is 4.6 assist a game; Jordan: 5.3.
athletic ability to create impossible shots in mid-air: Jordan did it when he needed to. Kobe does it even when it's not necessary just so he can look good.
defense:Kobe was on the First Team All-Defensive 6 times over his career. Jordan was on it 9 times, in an era where every player knew how to play defense.
Why is it that you're calling me a fan-boy? Everyone nowadays is like "Kobe this...Kobe that..." and have no clue about basketball history. These people are fan-boys. Just because I am defending the greatest and most skilled basketball player to date, I get called a fan-boy. I'm sorry, but I'm no fan-boy. I tend to stray from the mainstream. I do my own thing. I don't repeat something unless I truly agree with it.

Kobe attempts way more threes thats why. when did jordan ever hit close to 180 threes in a season?
and forget about stats because jordan played to break records, kobe doesnt care what his fg% is at the end of a game.
If Kobe wanted he could lead the league in scoring for the rest of his career, but you see he doesn't care about stats.
And you call him selfish. Jordan obviously wanted to get the attention even after he retired. Thats why he played for stats just like LEBRON. THe other "stat boy".
Also the league is much better now than it was in the jordan era.
The players now are stronger, faster, quicker, more skilled, more athletic, jump higher, better ball handles...... the list goes on and on. Simply more competition now than before.

phil jackson coached both kobe and jordan and he said that no one, and he meant no one (not even JORDAN!!!!) can get hotter than or simply take over a game the way kobe can.
YOu have to guard kobe through the whole court because he can pop a 3 from half court and make it. And then you telling me jordan is more dangerous. NO NO NO.
KB24 MR.81 point game. THe 81 point game is a bigger accomplishment than Chamberlains 100 because again there's more competition now than there was before.
(kobe shot less freethrows and accomplished this with jumpers and shot higher than 60%, mostly jumpers not DRIVING.)
And again kobe wasnt trying to break a record he was just playing to win. It wasn't til mid 3rd quarter that he realized how many points he had racked up on the scoreboard.
He wanted to WIN and The players around him werent helping.
Jordan had a way better team around him than kobe ever did. The bulls were one game away from making it to the finals without jordan. Why? because that team could win it all without him. UNLIKE A KOBELESS LAKER team. IF kobe played with the lakers in the jordan era im sure he wouldve got as many championships.
Jordan is the Greatest of all time. DOnt get me wrong I know that.
But if kobe ends up with more championships playing in today's league. THats when im not going hesitate to say that kobe is the greatest player of all time.

Jordan may have enjoyed breaking records, but he played to win. That's right Kobe doesn't care about his FG%; he'll keep shooting no matter what.
If Kobe wanted he could lead the league in scoring for the rest of his career, but you see he doesn't care about stats.
Kobe led the league in scoring the past two years. The only reason he didn't this year was because another scorer joined the team.
If Kobe doesn't care about stats, why did he score 81? The Lakers won by 18 that game, and Kobe didn't leave the court until there was only 4 seconds left in the game. If he had come off when any other player would, he would have scored 70 points.
And you call him selfish. Jordan obviously wanted to get the attention even after he retired. Thats why he played for stats just like LEBRON. THe other "stat boy".
I haven't called him selfish yet, but I guess I will now. Kobe is selfish. Jordan came back because he loves the game. Do you think Magic Johnson is selfish because he came back?
Also the league is much better now than it was in the jordan era.
I disagree. The league today is all focused on the offensive end. Back in the day every team knew how to play defense. It was rough out on the court, and you had to be tough to do what Jordan did. Kobe wouldn’t survive 5 seconds against the Bad Boy Detroit Pistons. Besides, players never used to get giant contracts like they do now. So they knew they had to work hard every night or else their job could have been in jeopardy.
The players now are stronger, faster, quicker, more skilled, more athletic, jump higher, better ball handles...... the list goes on and on. Simply more competition now than before.
You don’t play offense against your opponent’s offense, but you play offense against your opponent’s defense. So what you said about being more skilled and being able to handle the ball is irrelevant. The players today lack defense. They are about jumping high and making money. They don’t care about winning as much as they do getting paid.

I love kobe but come on. MJ is the best finisher this game has ever seen, and is the better defensive player of the two.
Kobe has more range and faces zone D occasionally, but Jordan played when hand checking was permitted. With today's rules Jordan would have been shooting 20 FTs a game in the 80s and early 90s, and he's the ideal player for attacking a zone.

...KB24 MR.81 point game. THe 81 point game is a bigger accomplishment than Chamberlains 100 because again there's more competition now than there was before.
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Yeah those Raptors are a defensive force to be reckoned with, they would've held Chamberlain to only 80 points...cause Chamberlain wouldn't of been able to shoot 3's... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
This is why I try to stay out of this thread....'cause Kobe loyalist say the ****est things...disregard all the major accomplishments done in the NBA...if it wasn't done by Kobe, then it's insiginicant....and when it's done by Kobe...it's because of the great miracles of today's players...so he doesn't have to TOP any records...he just breaks them because his loyalist have an answer & excuse for everything.... :rotfl:
Un-****ing real... :rotfl: (what the **** do you know about competition from now and before...?)

[QUOTE=TUSS11]Jordan may have enjoyed breaking records, but he played to win. That's right Kobe doesn't care about his FG%; he'll keep shooting no matter what.
You are just a hater. And i dont hate MJ. If thats what you think than you are wrong.
I started watching the nba in 95 and Mj was my favorite player. Then when he left in 98 i started watching kobe.
Kobe led the league in scoring the past two years. The only reason he didn't this year was because another scorer joined the team.
You just shut yourself up. The only reason he didnt do it this year is because now he has help wat a dumbo you are.
If Kobe doesn't care about stats, why did he score 81? The Lakers won by 18 that game, and Kobe didn't leave the court until there was only 4 seconds left in the game. If he had come off when any other player would, he would have scored 70 points.
Its not his decision to get off the court its the coach's decision if you didnt know.
Also what happened in the Mavericks game when Kobe had 60 in the 3rd quarter and there was still 7 min left to the third quarter and PHIL sat him down and he never put him back in he didnt play a minute in the 4th quarter?
Imagine how much he would've ended up with.
I haven't called him selfish yet, but I guess I will now. Kobe is selfish. Jordan came back because he loves the game. Do you think Magic Johnson is selfish because he came back?
No offense, this doesnt make any sense.
So they knew they had to work hard every night or else their job could have been in jeopardy.
before if a defender came to help out in the paint it would be called illegal defense.
and jordan could play d because they would not call a foul even if you hacked at a players hand.
Its much harder to win a championship in todays league than it was back then. Especially in a western conference which could be a league on its own.
And again i know JORDAN IS BETTER THAN KOBE.
Stop thinking that i think kobe is better.
You don’t play offense against your opponent’s offense, but you play offense against your opponent’s defense. QUOTE]
Kobe would still be able to score back then. Kobe is a better offensive player. No defense would be able to stop him. Not backthen and not now.

And my point is that wilt chamberlain shot more freethrows and kobe shot midrange jumpers to accomplish the 81 points and still shot 64%. You cant even do that in a videogame attempting 46 shots. And jordan wouldn't be able to score 81.
Also what happened in the Mavericks game when Kobe had 60 in the 3rd quarter and there was still 7 min left to the third quarter and PHIL sat him down and he never put him back in he didnt play a minute in the 4th quarter?
Imagine how much he would've ended up with. Thats way more than wat he had through the third quarter of the 81 point game.
Chamberlain was playing against scrubs compared to players now. Shaq would destroy chamberlain. Chamberlain is overated.

We all know Kobe is amazing, but he is not ready to have a 99 overall in a basketball game. He is the closest to MJ, but he has not proved himself in the NBA Finals this year. All these topics of Kobe's overall being 98 and should be 99 are silly. 98 or 99 overall, there really is no difference in the game, it just says it, it might give you more "luck" and chance to succeed, but it wont matter. All the die hard Kobe fans, or those people who changes every year...just forget about it..
Maybe if he wins 3 more titles and have 6 like jordan he might get 99,

Dang...!!! This use to be such a hot topic of discussion from all the Laker Kobe loyalist who said Kobe was better then MJ and said things like above....what happend..you all crawled back under a rock or something????
This dude doesn't deserve no 99 rating.... 98 or lower...along with everyone else...
...and again...Jordan wouldn't let his team blow a 24 point lead in a finals game...all this started from him winning the M.V.P. award; which goes back to my arguement...if he deserves a 99 for winning MVP then Dirk & Nash should've gotten the highest ratings too when they won the past 3 seasons...
It's a team game...

I saw Jordan. Kobe, you sir, are no Micheal Jordan

Get off of michael jordan's wheener, everyone please!!! I know he's the greatest but you overate him acting like no one will be greater than him. By saying that, you are dissing the human race acting like we can no way in hell become better.

first of all, everybody who doesn't think Kobe deserves a 99 in the game than u don't know what your talking about. Someone eventually has to be a 99 rating and the only one that can right now is Kobe. There is no need to diss him, everybody knows he is the best player since Michael Jordan but people need to stop comparing him to Michael, tey play the same position, but there are things Michael is better at and there are things that Kobe is better at. I can list them but i dont feel like it. And stop saying it took Pau Gasol to finally make it to the finals. Sure it hepled but thats not the reason. Gasol is only a 1time all-star and will not make it ever again probably. Jordan had one of the 50 greatest players playing with him everytime he won. Think about it, Jordan never won a championship without Pippen. You can say the same thing about Jordan that you say about Kobe and Shaq, so STFU everybody and just respect that he is the greatest since Jordan and could possibly eventually be the greatest of all time. Stop Hating!!!!!!

No one has to be a 99 rating. Ratings are a calculation based on attributes and position, and they are not set numbers put in by the developers. That's why these posts are usually pretty laughable. I think they should rid of the overall rating and replace them with an alternative (maybe indepth scouting reports and/or value parementers).

Yeah, name calling. Nice touch. Why should it? So his attributes should possibly be inflated just because he "deserves" a 99 rating? I think you could apply your namecalling elsewhere my friend.

Iverson shoul have a 70 dunking ability so he cans throw it down on fastbreak here is what I what now he cans averages 92 or 89 that won't disturb me because I know I will score 40 points with him if I play the right way
