BAck in the day your online rank was calculated in a manner in which the rank of the person you were playing was a factor. To move up you had to play top ranked players and ya had to beat them. It was perfect!!!!
Now all you have to do is win. I can have a record of 100 wins and 1000 losses. But if my 100 wins is more than anybody else..eg, Rank #2 would have a record of 99-0 I'm still #1??
Please fix the online ranking in 2k9 or just remove online ranks alltogether.

2k rankings can be mind boggling. Sometimes they seem legit where you have to beat top ranked opponents, like there is some type of formula to it. Other times it seems that all that matters is how many wins you have. Bogus!
What really bugs the heck out of me is how they're doing the Chevy MLB 2k8 sweepstakes season and tourney. So many people have questions like whether or not wins your opposition's rank factors into your Chevy leader board standing, and if losses count towards your Chevy leader board standings. The only description 2k has is a link, a wikipedia link to explain the system they use for the Chevy sweepstakes, which is called the Elo system. Check out the link, this is 2k answer to any question a participant has: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system

If it's using Elo ratings then yes, your opponent's rank matters.

the problem is once someone gets to the top they only play neebees so they won't lose. Look at 2k7 PS3 winner...once he got to #1, he never played again.
