Hey guys,
I wanted to know if a QA would be well received. For those of you who don't know, grimmbomb was invited in to the 2K Studios to play the game and have that interview. He answered most of your questions, but if we can gather 15 good ones, I can do this once before the release of the game. Use this thread to ask questions. Thanks.

Ronnie had a thread open for what looks like a few minutes and asked to post some questions we have concerning the game so he could apparently get us some feedback to appease our concerns. 15 questions to be exact. So I thought I would start a new thread and see if anyone had any major questions to ask. I'll start first I guess. I have a few questions I would like to ask.

1. My biggest question really is about downloadable content in the addition of other players both current and legend. 2K knows about all of the grumbling from the fans concerning the roster. So what I would like to know is what kind of time line are we looking at with regards to this DLC? Are there any players who are already interested in being in the game like possibly Sampras, or Aggassi, Connors, etc. I think the fans would like to have an idea of what to expect when it comes to this possible ray of hope roster-wise.

2. Are there any features that they wanted to put into the game but could not due to budget or time constraints?

3. Although I am sure it is very early, do they have any ambitious plans concerning Top Spin 4?

4. Why are they putting Ancic and Mark Philippoussis into the game. Ancic is a very low ranked player and Mark hasn't played a relevent game in . . . I don't even know how long. I tought he was retired actually.

These have been asked. Just so we don't ask the same questions.

1. Will certain pros play better on a particular surface? And if so, can you explain a little how that will work? [Ant] Yup, we definitely take surfaces into account. A perfect example is Nadal’s play on clay. He won’t slide as much as other players and generally his movement will be better on that particular surface. The obvious trick here is to give a certain pro an advantage without making it frustrating for the other player. We did a lot of focus testing here to make sure things stayed fun yet true to the sport.

2. Will online tournaments be only for created pros, or will you have any tournaments that are for existing pros only? [Ant] Created players will be used for the World Tour. We don’t want a tournament full of Beckers and Federers =)

3. Were there any features that you couldn't fit in to Top Spin 3 that we might see in future Top Spin games? [Ant] There is always stuff we need to change from concept to release. Maybe we’ll release some info on these in the near future but for now we need to keep some things to ourselves. ;)

4. Will the PS3 or 360 have exclusive downloadable content, or will everyone have access to the same downloads? [Ant] We’ll be looking into this in the near future, it’s certainly doable. As of right now though, Nadal on the PS3 is the only exclusive player.

5. If 2k uses polls to determine what players will be part of the downloadable content, would we look for that to be on the official Top Spin 3 site or on the 2k Sports site? [Ant] No idea. Ask Mr. Sinhaseni!

Also, the Production Manager did say that they would probably do polls to gauge the publics interest in particular players, and they weren't sure who they would be adding.

Why is Ana Ivanovic not in the game?/When will she be available for download?

When will any player be available for download?

Why does it say more than 20 players when there are 19 for xbox 360 and 20 for ps3?

Here are some more that have already been asked:

1. Why is Nadal PS3 exclusive?
A: Nadal is exclusively signed to Sony and therefore will only be in the PS3.

2. Why isn’t (insert players name) in the game?
A: 2k Sports reaches out to many pro players and their agents to appear in their Top Spin games. In the end it comes down to who is more marketable and reaching agreements with each individual player.

3. Will Hawkeye( challenge system) be available?
A: At this time there is no plan to include a challenge system. This is subject to change, however.

I already asked this in a separate thread but I thought I should ask it again here:

I've heard that some players such as Nadal will have advantages on their preferred surface but will the surface differences extend beyond this aspect? Such as clay producing higher bounces and playing slower or Grass courts having lower bounces.

I am a big fan of TopSpin 3 and I understand the limits of aquiring each Pro individually to use in the game. But why not take a page out other sports games like ncaa football games(editing apperances, ability, etc...) and allow us to edit the fake players in the game and we could create real-life professionals ourselves and put them in the game to play with or against. That would add a lot of replay and realism to Top Spin3 and would be a way of getting around player licences that was unaquired.

I picked through some of the questions that have been asked here to organize a list. If you guys can come up with a couple more, we can ask Ronnie to submit them.

Hello. here are my questions

1. What is total budget for this title? Can you give us an average $ amount as to how much it costs for one player license? SUMMARY= how much of your budget is spent on player licenses???

2. Will you be able to select your strings for your raquet? natural gut vs synthetic for example?

3. how long has Nadal been playstation exclusive? VT3 had him on their roster for xbox so this must be a somewhat recent development.

4. How much effort went into getting the "old timers"? It is great that you included becker, borg and seles. But in all honesty that is not a very good effort. I would rather you used the money licensing those players to get some current tour stars such as Djokovic, Safin, or the Williams sisters and other relevant players. OR if your going to do the all time greats dont leave out Connors, Sampras, McEnroe, and others. It is equivalent to handing in a C-paper and saying that is OK. its not Gentlemen.

Thank you for your time and your responses are greatly appreciated! Thanks for the hard work in making this game.

I pretty much approve of the list myself. The only other question I was going to ask would be another about the DLC. The question is if there is a DLC pack released in the future, will it be just one pack with a mix of current and legendary players or will 2K try to maximize profits by releasing one pack with current and the other with legends?

maybe to late but i would have liked to have had a question that would have allowed them to pick at there simulation a bit

question.

discounting any graphics or eye candy, discounting any players you would have liked to have signed, discounting any content that didn't make topspin 3. name one thing about topspin 3 on court simulated play you would like to have done a better job on but do to time, money or lack of technology wasn't able to pull off like you would have liked..

The question about # of sets needs not be on the list. one of the xbox 360 achievements is "Men’s award:
Win a singles match with 5 sets per match and 6 games per set on hard difficulty." 25 pts. ...... http://www.360sync.com/2008/05/22/top-spin-3-achievements

I would substitute for a better suiting question like "how will they decide which player is on the DLC? or more importantly Will 2ksports collaborate with Topspin3.co.uk downloadable player poll and pursue as to the best of their ability the ones on the top of the list?"

it doesn't specify if the 6 game set is for career or quick game. topspin 2 you could play 6 game sets in a quick game but in career it was only 3... the question was in career can you now play 6 game sets are is it still 3..

So does that mean that if we do a poll, you guys will start contacting these players from highest popularity to lowest, to see who is on board? Good luck with Sampras and Agassi then. Either you will need deep pockets or an ice chest of organs you can sell to raise the money.

Maybe you will have to have deep pockets but then again maybe not. Agassi seems like a person who would do it for little or no money. As much as he has made in his life I doubt he needs more. Sampras might be the same or then again they both might ask for the moon, you just never know.

I would like to believe that they would be wowed so much by the game and it's visuals that just being in it would be reward enough. I guess that would be the utopian scenario.

We sorta assume that extra downloadable players cost will money for the fans. So im assuming that the downloadable players get a certain percentage of the number of downloads for their player. I certainly feel that this is a win-win situation for 2k and these players? Maybe I'm just ignorant... but I wouldn't see why anyone would decline this marketing idea... such as agassi and sampras..

7. In the wii version will effects (such as adding top spin to the ball) be given trough movement on the wii mote or through pressing buttons.

8.I am a big fan of TopSpin 3 and I understand the limits of aquiring each Pro individually to use in the game. But why not take a page out other sports games like ncaa football games(editing apperances, ability, etc...) and allow us to edit the fake players in the game and we could create real-life professionals ourselves and put them in the game to play with or against?

9. Will created players be able to have the option of having a two handed forehand???

10. How many total players do you estimate will be available for download?

11. Will player emotions/celebrations still be player controlled?

12. Will career mode be five years long like Top Spin 2?

13. Will downloadable outfits be available for the roster of pros, or career only?

14. What is the process for deciding what the pro players' stats/levels will be? I was wondering why Roger Federer is faster than James Blake.

15. In going through development on Top Spin 3, do certain questions/suggestions/complaints about any aspect of the game influence any tweaks or changes you might make?

The list looks good. Except number 14 why Federer is faster than Blake, well probably because he is.

i have some questions...:
IF the downloadable players thing works... can we expect this players to have signature animations or is this just not possible?
is it possible to download courts or tournaments like wimbledon? (in case an agreement was made with them in the near future)
can you tell us exact date of the demo?
i heard wether changed throughout the match-- does this include delayed matches because of rain? it would be cool...or maybe just small amounts of rain that dont delay games? how much will the wether change?
can we change color of hair of players? in the `pictures federer looks red haired. can we take hats or bands off? change hair cuts? haas sometimes plays without hat

If it's not too late, I think a good ? would be whether or not created players can be used as computer opponents in tournaments (i.e. can I create a custom tournament with either a full draw of created players or with a mixture of created and included players)

Sorry, I don't think Ronnie has submitted the Q & A to the developers yet. But he will be the one providing us the answers to the questions. I don't have anything to do with that.

My attempts at providing people info on TS3 ended last month in a "crash and burn" attempt to interview the developer of the game. Not one of my better moments.

dude there are a large number of people who disagree with you and obviously the producers of the game. federer is not as fast as blake. running doesn't seem to be a major problem for federer when he plays the likes of blake or nadal (on grass) because his shot placement is so good that its hard to provide a good return. he's the best overall tennis player in world, in my opinion, as much as i want to admit. but he's not that fast.

i feel he might be quicker than andy roddick but then again i might be fooled by his expectional ability to force his opponents 1. run a lot (and when they cant even reach the federers return assume they are just plain slow) 2. make it so their returns are more often than not defensive ones rather than offensive ones which would force federer to show us his running ability.

my apology for posting on the 15 question thread, but i just think the ratings aren't as bad as people say. i would say they are in good comparison to the other players in the game in terms of individual ratings. Of course I feel they should be spread out more. (ie. federer has a better forehand than a 91, but there is no doubt that he has the best forehand rating in the game with a 91) but I understand they want players to be competitive among one another in career mode, exhibitions...

I think the question list looks good. I can't wait to hear back from Ron.

sorry, I just registered one minute ago and I would like to have a question answered, if possible.
Will it be possible to get a Hawk-Eye-System as DLC? I would love to have this in the game which is said to be realistic ;-)
Perhaps Ronnie can ask this one. Oh, and will the downloadeble (does this word exist???lol) players be available for Europe?

And I must say that it wouldn't be that disappointing not to have for example Djokovic and Ivanovic, because I want to build them up in a careermode (I've built 13 male and 13 female players for Top Spin 1;-) )

Then you should know. I've seen them both play, and James Blake can run down shots that nobody should be able to. His anticipation is not as good as Federer, but his speed is better.

I think James Blake of course is although a fast player, but the general opinion in the tennis world is: Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are the best defensive players in the world!
For that you need to be fast! ;)

Okay. But that doesn't mean that Federer is faster than Blake.

Anyway, it doesn't matter that much to me. There were other ratings on the players that I thought were off. That's why I asked the question.

Yes, that´s right!

 Hope you can create some players to put in the career mode  I'd like to create Azarenka or Maria Kirilenko if never they weren't in the game... That would be great since first deceiption came when the 7 rounds required to win a gran slam weren't in that game... Shameful
