this is the one and only reason why I play nba live 08 everyonce in awhile...to remember what next gen basketball is supposed to look like. The crowds,faces,jerseys,gear..are just amazing to look at in HD. I could pop in NBA 2k6 for my xbox and be nearly looking at the same graphics as 2k8 for 360 or ps3. C'mon you guys.....you already have gameplay down...but the players faces,jerseys,accesories, are just an eye-sore to look at. Anyone agree?

As much as I love playing NBA 2K over Live, the graphics are really beginning to bother me. The jerseys look half done, the player models still look like PS2-gen (and it stands out dramatically in the association with drafted players), and the shoe deal still bother me a hell of a lot. It's nothing against the game... I'd rather take gameplay over graphics... but, I still want to play a great game and have that realistic feel which we haven't been given since 2K6. It's been three years... we deserve some sort of distinguishable improvement.

The graphics are nothing special, but they are not PS2 graphics - do you really think PS2 had cloth physics, sweat and 3D crowds? (Just to name a few things).

Everyone feels like they have the right to tell 2k what to do with their game, guess what man, you don't like the graphics, there are other, much worse basketball games out there. 2k8's graphics are actually very good, but can be mistaken for bad graphics at first, especially when compared to games of other genres. Do yourself a favor man. Go into practice mode, do a layup, a dunk, anything. Go to a replay, and zoom in all the way on the player. Look at the amount of detail in the jerseys. Look at the amount of detail in the tattoos, especially Iverson, and LeBron James. I can look at the tattoos on these guys and literally read what they say in perfect detail. Do you have an HDTV hooked up via HDMI?

That may be true with the show, but players are covered in pants and shirts whereas in 2k they show arms and legs. Also, The Show only shows the players faces really, I just was commenting on how silly this thread was. Good point though.

I laugh at people who say that 2k6's graphics were better. Have you actually played 2k6? Well I still own it, and I have went back to see if these claims were true, and 2k8 is definately signifcantly better graphic-wise.

Now as far as 2k8 being ps2-wise, I must assume you don't play in HD. Game looks good in HD. I would agree that live looks a little better, but to say that 2k8 is ps2 like is laughable.

make cheesing impossible i could care less what they look like. the stupid stealing when your guy goes in for a dunk slash layup. they change the animation and get a steal. once i was on a fastbreak with vc and jrich was behind him well guess what he grabbed the ball out of my hand and in to his. he didn't even deflect like the normal cheesing people he grabbed the ball out of his hand. i have broken 2 controller playing 2k7 and one playing 2k8 and also a mic. becoz i don't do that crap i play the game.

first of all it is documented by 2k that the players in 2k6 had more polys, lighting, sweat and skin textures. Overall more detail. Also, why be such a fan boy and not want the graphics to get even better? You fan boys take any critique of the game as an insult against your family! Lighten up. The main things I think should be improved upon graphically is smoothing out the graphics cause its still got too many jaggies. The skin texture could be improved upon and the jerseys need a lil work cause they still float above the player's shoulders a little bit. And the accesories need work (like what was up wit those headbands). But 2k is definitely on the right track

Yes that's true I think I exagerated a litle bit in my first post in fact graphics are average for a next gen games but everything(textures, bodies, hands) needs some work, come on 2K I know you're gonna kill my eyes this october :dance: :thumbsup:

I think with all the stuff they have going on in the game that the graphics will kind of take a hit. They cant afford to lose framerate so the graphics can look a little better. It also gives the game more atmosphere. I dont know if the graphics are changing this year yet, but it looks the way it does for a reason.

Can we ask for better texture instead then? The developer really suck at photoshop....They have the best reference pics provided from NBA.com which is truly high res and yet they failed to to keep all those detail along the process....:thumbsdow :thumbsdow

i'm sure the can make the graphics better without affecting the gameplay. NBA live would like a hell of alot better if the animations were as good but they're not so it's not so much different. but i would definitely say that on the whole NBA live is a much more pleasurable visual experience than 2K8!

lol, these rabbits have no IDEA how a game prossesor works itself out. The more mappings you use on graphics (it's not even called graphics) the more becomes very limited.......i create 3d models and 2k models are the BEST (way better stlye and anatomy) . WHAT you see with YOUR EYE's in EA live games is that they use more texture mapping on top of their models & this limits their gameplay engine (why u think live sucks). Stop calling it graphics when you dont even know what graphics are (funny hearing this BS).

i wouldnt get that same response with live because of the clunky looking and moving players.....the graphics are fine...all that is needed are some minor tweaks here and there....and to keep honing the great gameplay....

I hate it so much sliding on the court or not really seeing how the players work with their feet. come on, just watch a basketball game and you will know what I mean.
this HAS to be done as a next step to create a realistic basketball game. footwork is one of the major factors in basketball, especially on the defensive end.


and I have to agree with you on the Sweat thing too.

it looked so amazingly real in Nba 2k7, it was a little too much though. but bring it please back. you could hardly seee sweat in 2k8....
