If you play 2k6 many of you guys will realize that it was a better game in many ways. It gave you more control of the player, because it does not have lenghty animations that make you have to wait until the move is done. Also, you claim that the large amount of animations added in 2k7 and 2k8, made you guys down grade the graphics. That sounds like a cop out to me. Please raise the poly count to the levels in 2k6 and find a way to added subtle animations that enhance the gameplay, and not bogg it down. After paying 400 dollars for a next generation system, I want to see a game that not only plays well but looks NEXT GEN!!!!

Very true on your first and second sentence.
NBA live gives you more control and it doesnt' do those lenthly long animations thats something 2k needs to fix
For ex. ive tried to pump fake inside it works once then when i fake the second they shoot
i hate it.
also i try to do a hook shot but they instead drive all the way in sometimes and i know its not me because i know about that hitting the analog away from the basket for floaters and all the other things
2k needs to stop these random animations they should make it that a direction makes that same exact move on any position.\
And also they need to let you post up from the top of the key and the 3pt line because kobe does it in real life

And please put fadeing to the side, this was in nba live 2004 and nba 2k4

All the things you mentioned can be done in 2K8, you just need to know what you're doing with the shot stick. You are obviously pressing the button to hard on the second pump fake, otherwise they wouldn't go up for there shot.

Ha, dragons, I like the quote in your sig. Harris got fired for a lot more than that, though.

Yeah I know he did, but I found it funny with the way he worded it.

If only they would implement the euphoria engine, and added "In-air Isomotion" in this game...

The euphoria engine is not practical. All it would be used for is upping the detection of collisions. What do they need balance for? What do they need wind for? There are other ways to control the fluidity, frequency, and ability to transition out of animations than giving up your engine and rebuilding with a new one.

That was the whole idea behind my suggestion. Instead of all these canned animations for mid-air collisions, they could use the euphoria engine, still giving us some control of our player in the air...

I like most of the new animations, but i get your point about some of them being too long. I think alot of this has to do with this being the first year they really implemented the foot-planting technology, which meant players had to set their feet in a realistic manner to push off into their shot or next move. I like the concept and idea, i just think it needs to be tweeked some for 2k9 so that essential players can plant their feet faster and even take an off balanced shot. They're on the right track with making it realistic though

Well, collisions in all games need work. I agree that collisions and collision detection should be better. Euphoria, however, is an entire engine that incorporates balance, along with other things like protecting your head, etc., as a behavior that is rendered upon meeting a force. In essence, Euphoria is used for a lot more than collisions, and it would probably take up too much space or be too hard to build your game engine around the Euphoria engine if all you use it for is the collisions.
I would also like to see more collisions and variety of them, though. But there are other physics simulators that would work just as well and be easier to incorporate.

if you wanna see too many canned animations, go take a look at prizefighter, everytime there is contact they go into a painful to watch canned animation. LoL. However I think 2k8's animations help add to the realism of the game. I dont really see a problem with it, however, I did when I first played it, I felt JUST LIKE YOU. LoL, I feel NBA2k3 was the best of the series, there was no stupid teams going on ridiculous runs where you either make every shot you take or miss wide open layups. But I think still NBA 2k8 is head shoulders AND torso above the comp lol. I just hope 2k9 improves on EVERYTHING. And maybe adds a lil something to the gameplay engine. But I love this series man!

The mid-air collisions are more frustrating than those on the floor. But some animations on offense (dribbling) can still be cotrolled somewhat, by the user. Maybe they need to do that to the mid-air collisions or, like you said, incorporate other physics simulators where the animations tied with collisions aren't completely reliant on the cpu. At least give us a little if not alot/more control over these situations.
But who know? 2K9 might suprise all of us and deliver something beyond our expectations. I know 2K8 had that affect on me...

Very true. When I sit back and think about changes they can make, I think of mostly aesthetic things like graphics and animations. But, when I actually play the game, I forget about the gripes I had, and I'm sure 2K9 will be fantastic regardless.

The animations are like always forces....to many blocks due to canned animations aswell....I mean Bowen isn't gonna block Kobe 4 times a game is he?? Most likely he will foul him going to the basket. Also I can't stand when the lane is completely open and my guy goes up for a dunk then a guy magically goes into him and my guy doesn't dunk it but does some stupid forced lay up thats is impossible to do. The game needs to run more fluid.

The game runs fluid enough, they just need to fix certain animations, or at least use the shotstick to change those animations. For instance say you're running into the lane and you hit normal dunk up direction and bowen can block that with that animation. Maybe they should just have it like every direction is a different animation, therefore if he's in front of you instead of pressing up and getting rejected, you hit left or right and either go around him for a layup or go for the dunk. That can have it all animated as long as there is a balance and counteraction for defense/offense on every animated block/dunk. Also why did they take out the ability to change your shot, that would fix everything in my eyes, you recognize a canned animation and you change your shot. Simple as that to fix this issue. however I think the game runs pretty fluid.

The game doesn't run fluid at all...players also run slow.. You see no explosiveness from any player while running (accept when they go super fast...but then again anyone can do that too..) I think they should just get rid of animation. If they did this then the game would run more smoothly but then again I don't know if they can make a game without animations...Would be nice though to see all moves and stuff without forced animations. Also the goaltending is horrible in the game.. Why is it that goaltending is forced? Like a guy goes up for a rebound and the ball magically goes into his hand even though he wasn't close enough to get it and they call goaltending....thats just ridiculous.

Bowen will block Kobe if the user who is controlling him is playing like an idiot. If you want to see Kobe play like Kobe then turn off your game and watch a basketball game being broadcasted. Don't blame the game for getting blocked, you need to put Kobe in a position where he can attempt a high percentage shot.

Yeah I never had that problem either, I pump fake all day and never force a shot up... but if they had many more canned animation's to choose from yourself and perform under certain situations instead of one option, dat would be great, I like dat idea instead of the player performing the same one everytime, and not to just rely on total control of the player, then you would be complaining about physic's and not enough collision, I mean come on it's impossible to get this game down to actual real life nba counter parts just yet maybe x-box 720 will, instead of the player performing the same one everytime, I mean they did the canned animation's to make the game run, look and go a whole lot smoother, 2k6 was a bit to stiff not enough life like physic's or collision's to me... but for now, a few minor adjustment's would be fine if you ask me, I mean while you playing and winning there are no complaint's is there  ?...

I do....I get all the way past him then he magically slides in front of me and blocks me...like I said Kobe doesn't get blocked easily by Bowen if ever at all.... How in the blue hell does one just magically slides in front and blocks someone? same thing happens if you have like a jason kid on kobe.......
