Because commentary can be aggravating not to mention distracting especially in tennis where every point is contested. Even if they did it only between points it is still something that is hard to get right because only so much is recorded so it's not long before you hear the same things over and over and over and over and over again till you want to pull your hair out!

agree with the commentary part.... it would have been nice to have been able to challenge or at least have replays of close to the line out calls and on serve, but then again those very same people screaming for a real tennis sim would then scream about having to sit threw a cut seen.

we need to have commentary, there is no excuse because in every other sports game we have commentary. Thats what makes this game get boring. They could add a large amount of lines but they dont need to commentate through every play. They could commentate every now and then like in the real broadcast of Tennis.
Also the crowd needs to be much louder, we are not in the old days of tennis. The crowd is more into it in real life.

I agree that commentary can get boring after a while... but theres no reason not to have it because most games have an option to turn the commentary off. personally, i think it can add to the realism in the game if the develop a system where stats are shown... they talk a bit about the players progress so far at the beginning of the game. they do this stuff sometimes in the 2k basketball and baseball.. as long as its not glitchy....(mlb 2k8) and they dont say the same things over again. i think it wouldnt be too expensive.. they dont need big name commentators to make it enjoyable. and they wouldn't need a bizzillion lines to keep it from being repetitive either....

I like commentary, especially if they talked about the type of the stroke you used, and a better pattern / angle for setting up a shot, and then actually showed it to you via a replay while you're setting up for the next point. It would be better than the little racket wave at the end of each point.
Well.. unless they let us have self inflicted racket wounds! w00t!

Commentary is a fickle creature. Like in my last reply I think it can easily get on your nerves. Look there are many sports games with commentary, but how many have commentary that really and truly shines? I don't know if any commentary could live up to what we hear on real tennis matches because obviously these people are speaking in the moment whereas on the game it is obviously recorded.
They would have to record hundreds of different comments in order to make it seem fresh. Let me put it this way. I have a couple of Madden Football games(American Football) and I've had instances where I have heard the same comment half a dozen times in a five minute span. That is the type that gets on your nerves and if you have to turn the commentary off then obviously it's not very good.
If they are going to do it, they should do it right.

before and after the match analysis wouldn't be a bad thing, proper sporting event Atmosphere is way behind other types of games ( in my opinion ) and i wish all sports titles would work on improving in that area.
