You're starting your franchise today, you get these 2 runningbacks to choose from.
Who is it going to be?

Tomlinson, because he's a proven great over several years...and he wears a black visor so he's just sick.

Id take Tomlinson. He's the full package. Plus, AD has only had one season, in which he was injured. I dont like when rookies get inured regardless of how good they were. Not to mention, it seemed like AD was either really, really good, or really really mediocre. He had is amazing games, and then his "well Im a rookie let me be" type games.

But who has more upside in the long run, not looking at injuries? Probably AD. But Im a win now guy, so Ill take LT.

I'd take Larry Johnson.

And I wouldn't give LT finesse and power.

That better be a joke.

Why not ? LT is the complete package

Steven Jackson and Adrian Peterson are probably the only running backs in the NFL that deserve Finesse & Power.

Keep in mind the requirements for this ability are that the player has a top tier shoulder charge, stiff arm, juke, and spin. LT doesn't have a top tier shoulder charge.

Tomlinson - Quick Feet, Cutback Ability, Soft Hands, Arm of Steel, Finesse

Id take out Soft Hands and put in Break Away Burst or Speed Burner, only because LT deserves at least one of those, and Soft Hands isnt really needed for a gold HB in this game. Although, if you are making him to be as much like him as possible, he does need Soft Hands.

For a truest to life as possible LT, Id go with Soft Hands, Speed Burner, Arm of Steal, Quick Feet, Branching Tackles

Peterson doesn't even deserve it if you go off him in the NFL. In college yes, but in the NFL he doesn't have a nasty enough stiff arm or a great spin move. Even his shoulder charge is only above average and the only reason that move gets pub for that move is he'll throw his body into defenders rather then go out of bounds. Really in the NFL his only top tier best in the league move is his jukes (just ask Kennoy Kennedy). Plus as a created CAP Gold level cap he will have above average moves to begin with.
Peterson in NFL = Speed Burner, Break Away Burst, Cutback Ability, Branching Tackles, Stamina Bonus (his nickname isn't all day for nothing, and he has one of the best competive drives ever).

Back to the point of the thread Peterson has the more potential right now but Tomlinson is still the best back in the league.
Really the question do you want to win now? Or do you want to swing for the fences and get lucky?

Gotta agree, that fits him perfectly...

If you're starting a franchise today... you gotta take Peterson.

Peterson is 23 years old with only 1 season fo wear and tear... LT is 28 and has taking beatings

True, but AD wasn't durable at all last season, and had multiple games where he was insignificant for the most part.

LT puts up good to great numbers every game. And, as far as I know (which isn't much; I just started watching football this past season), LT has only been injured once in his professional career (last season). LT still has 4-5 years left IMO if he wants.

Peterson biggest knock is durability issues because the combo of his up right running style and his aggressive running style. The same competitive drive that he has that gives him the potential to be the best ever also opens him up to unnecessary hits that could sadly shorten his career. As exciting as he is to watch to run is it almost equaled by the fear will this be the time his going onward ignoring the sidelines going to cost him big? I remember one time at OU i found myself holding my breath he wouldn't get hurt because he wouldn't go down. One guy was latched on his leg and he was just dragging him. He already had a bad ankle so that was very scary. His drive combined with his amazing body means he will come back from injuries before he should which will open him up to even more damage (Sophomore year he kept playing on a bad ankle and ended up missing most of 3 games due to it). I personally think he came back a little to early from his knee injury this year and that combined with the 8 man boxes he was facing lead to the decrease in production the second half of the year.

Enjoy AD (not AP) while you can I truly believe we'll only have a limited window of opportunity to watch him. He's a special player who loves to play with fire and will burn people but sadly I think in the end he could become burned himself.
