Standard stuff, but primarily to determine if a monopoly will be acquired in the Sports genre from what I've read... which it would, but whether they constitute a Genre in video games as a monopoly remains to be seen. In the movie industry, it would be like only one company able to make Horror Movies, or Sci-Fi movies. It's wrong. R O N G - WRONG

True..Hopefully the FTC will determine that EA is a monopoly and make them give up the license..

Well from what I thought I read somewhere the FTC cleared it. Or something to that effect. One interesting thing though. APF's lackluster sales might be the thing that alarms the FTC to see that this indeed would be a monopoly.

i have searched this issue high and low and have not seen any article saying anything about the FTC clearing anything yet.

in fact i read that its rare that they make a second request for more information from both companies to look at something a little closer. Usually that means they might have found something that is raising eyebrows. Even if the FTC does clear it, at least the government is becoming more aware of the issue.

to me it seems so complicated. on one hand, I can see why it would be a monopoly with EA and their deal. but on the other hand, I can see why it wouldn't, because they don't own total football in general rights. but the fact that EA owns AFL and CFL rights also doesn't help their case. if it was just NFL I wouldn't see it as that much of an issue. especially since they don't even do anything with the CFL.
