I wanted to try and make a team full of guys nobody uses (or you rarely see). I left out linemen because most of them have attributes and are pretty decent.

Here's what I came up with:

Dave Wilcox - I figured 99 out of 100 times somebody wants a gold OLB, they take Derrick Thomas, so I'll give Wilcox some love.

Joe Perry - Gold FB...need I say more? (He rocks, btw)

Roger Wehrli - Hayes, Barney, and Renfro always get picked over this guy.

Pete Phios - It was him or Lenny Moore. A coin toss won it for Pete.

George McAfee - Again, another guy who's at the bottom of the picking line in his group. One attribute?!...he's silver!

Eric Martin - A one attribute WR. He beat Tony Martin by a coin toss.

Solomon Wilcotts - No attributes, gotta love it.

Brian Jones - No attributes for this LB.

Reggie Cobb - Again, no attributes. Only HB in the game with none.

Troy Drayton - With Metzelaars in his group and having no attributes himself, Drayton never gets picked.

Bubby Brister - Saved the best for last. No attribute QB. Awesome!

They are the Butte Pirates and their colors are purple and brown with pink trim.

How'd I do? Are they just about the most guys that nobody ever sees? Anybody see where I could improve upon obscurity?

Pretty good list of players that no one uses, except for Dave Wilcox. Id say just as many, if not more people use Wilcox than DT.

Also, Id try a different QB. Bubby Brister is just bad. Try out John Brodie. He is solid, and no one seems to use him.

I use Drayton/John Taylor on offense.

On defense, i use Nick Bontaconti as my ILB. He's a freaking best in coverage.

I use gold caps though. Just makes it more fun for me now. I use a Bernard Pollard Gold cap. yeah, he's not gold status, but for my team he is (haha) and Larry Johnson.

John Brodie is a solid QB. He doesn't have great arm strength but he is quite accurate, also, his Leadership Abiility comes through at some key situations. Also, he's a pretty good scrambler. Basically he's a great West Coast QB (played for the 49ers): mobile QB with a lot of accuracy and not to big of an arm.

Or a guy like Jim Zorn.

Really? I've never seen Wilcox used. Maybe I should swap him for Mark Smith.

I tried this once and the team blew. That is when I realized that people pick the same players all the time for a reason. They are the best.

Last post...hilarious.

I swapped Wilcox for Mark Smith and swapped Pihos for Lenny Moore. Now my team is really bland.

I'm keeping Brister. I went 12 of 13 for 325 and 4 TDs with no INTs against a friend of mine who is quite good. It's probably a major fluke, but it's enogh to get Bubby another start.

I find that if I just stick to flag paterns and keep away from post patterns and in-routes, the bronze QB can do fine. In-routes and post patterns can be dangerous with bronze QBs, as they tend to lead the receiver by a mile. With out-routes and flag routes, at least the ball will go out of bounds insted of being picked.

Btw, Mark Smith...is he just about the worst non-lineman gold star in the game or is it just me? Mike Haynes probably saw how he was portrayed and said "Aw, hell no!!"

Pretty much. Only gold corners worth my time are Willie Brown and Rod Woodson, and only reason I say Woodson is because he is the best CB is zone coverage in the game. Plus, he picks off anything his way. But in man 2 man Rod Woodson is bad.

Willie Brown is my second favorite gold star defender behind Selmon. Brown shuts down soooo good.

I think Night Train rocks too. I'm suprised to hear otherwise.

Am I the only one who uses ILB-Noll on a semi-regular basis. His only attribute is Leadership, but I looked on his 'profile' & if I recall correctly is the only bronze ILB in Hall of Fame (albeit as a coach). I think that this game does have 'invisible' attributes. In Noll's case it seems to benefit him. He's almost always around the ball.

It seems to me (this is no joke) that all the bronze "no-attributers" are better than their other bronze counterparts.

Drayton consistently catches passes that Green/Metz drops.

Solomon gets INTs all the time and has even taken them to the house.

As a previous poster said, Brian Jones is a lot faster and seems to have the ability of "Run Reader" to the max.

Reggie Cobb is simply a beast. He is for real. Unless he's going head on with a gold, he'll usually blow them right off or at least fall forward for two more yards. He is just as effective as Okoye, no doubt.

The only guy that doesn't perfrom head and shoulders above his peers is Brister, but he doesn't suck compared to them either. He's just your bronze QB, like the rest of 'em.
