Manny moving up a division against the lighweights weakest champion is not going to be as big of a risk as many think(imo). Diaz barely beat a post Manny Pacquiao destruction Eric Morales. There is no doubt in my mind Manny will have no trouble dismantling Diaz. I think Manny will be able to fight with the same wreckless abandon that he did one weighclass lower, and dominate Diaz. I predict a Manny ko of Diaz in round 7.

Manny with a good UD.

Fun fact: I went to the presser here in chicago and got autographs of Diaz, Pacquiao, and Roach all on the same "Fight breakdown" page of the ring magazine. Also got pictures with all of them and met them. It was really cool.

I have to agree. Pac by UD. Should be a great fight though.

warp,
that's awesome man. Did you ask them anything or did they just have time for the pics and had to go? Post the pics if you can.

Nah I couldn't really talk to them, but I was right in front of Diaz during the actual conference and sucked in with all his fans. Manny got booed it was funny.

This guy behind me: "YOU LOST TO MARQUEZ!!!"
Me: "Twice."
Guy hears me and yells: "TWICE!!"

They were all pretty cool. Except Bob Arum. That guy seems like a genuine *****.

lol. I can imagine. That must have been awesome. I have only been to one fight. Lacy vs Reid. I wasn't too impressed either. But a press conference seems like it would be ****ing awesome.

It wasn't much because Manny and Diaz are both really nice guys haha. Though the atmosphere was great with all the fans shouting and stuff.

Hahaha Jeff Lacy. Man lol. Apperently when he fought Manfredo at the weigh in, brits were yelling "JOE CALZAGHE!" "JOE CALZAGHE!"

I'm guessing they were pretty respectful of each other. I kinda apprciate that a little more than all the trash talking. I mean I know each of them thinks they are going to win, but they still respect each other as fighters and the sport.

Hey at least I got to see Tarver and my favorite fighter at the time, Zab Judah. But it was pretty sad.

Nah man I love it when fighter's talk trash. They have to be good at it though (Ricardo Mayorga) and not bad at it (Floyd Mayweather Jr.)

I guess I was a little put off when I watched Tito and Hopkins. When Hopkins threw that flag down, I was like....oh ****! This guy is going to get killed. I don't mind it so much when it's back and forth, but not when you have just one loud mouth and the other one just sitting there.

Considering Hopkins is my favorite fighter I didn't mind that at all. :)

Well I wasn't a boxing fan back in 2001, so when I saw it I was shocked, but knew that he was safe.

Manny Pacquiao is going to crucify David Diaz. It won't be close and will be a classic Pacquiao destruction. If Manny boxes, KO10. If Manny does as he should and goes at him, KO5. Manny Pacquiao is a huge puncher with a ton of speed and in great condition against a slow pressure fighter with no power or defense. Pacquiao could land 60 punches a round, easily.

I'm thinking Pac-Man by late stoppage, thinking round 9 or 10. While Manny is moving up in weight, Diaz really doesn't impress me all that much and has never fought a fighter that applies the kind of pressure that Manny does. So I think that eventually Manny will get him. That being said, it will be interesting to see if Manny's power will translate well at the new weight.

I hope Diaz vs. Pacquaio is a good fight, but I'm not really all that excited about it. I'm not going to buy the pay per view, but it's mainly because the only reason I'm interested in this fight is to see how Manny handles the extra weight. But I still see Manny winning this fight.

Well, they let Diaz go on longer than I thought they would.

Wow, I called it. My predictions usually never come true. It was a very impressive performance by Manny. He looked like an absolute beast at lightweight. That being said, he was fighting a guy in Diaz that really didn't belong in the same ring. I have no problem with the fight or the win, but I have a problem with it being on Pay Per View. That was a HBO Championship Boxing fight if I ever saw one. It was so one sided that I started to feel bad for Diaz. He showed great heart and a great sense of humor about it afterwards, but that was a fight that probably should have been stopped 2-3 rounds earlier. But Pac-Man is legit at lightweight.
