What's "Player Area"? and does the "Player Creator" on the main menu allow for you to create a player who you can then play against on the career mode tour?? or is it just for creating players for exhibition matches without going through career mode?

Hey,
Basically, it's a full room area that will give you details on your player, let you buy stuff (mall feature), edit your character, show your tendencies and stats, show your trophies and achievements, etc. It's going to be full area devoted to your player.
I am trying to understand your second question. You can play your career with your created character but you can't play against your created character in career mode. Hope that answers it.

don't know if the question was asked before, but how many players will we be able to build up with career mode? will there be a couple of slots or will it be without any limitation??

That's terrible news how we can't use any created players in career mode as its a very dumb move by the game's developer because that could've helped with the lackluster roster.
And I second caesar66's question; can we at least play against our created players in the regular tournaments?

With SmashCourt 2, I had up to 10 created players for different sexes and playing styles.

I didn't say that you couldn't use a created character in career. You most certainly can. You just can't play against him. What you are asking has never been in any game I can think of.

Ron, I think what these guys are asking for is if you can create a player outside of the career mode like in other sport games and then use those characters which you have created to play with or play against in all of the other game modes.

No you can't. Creating Players is only possible in the Careermode. ;)
But it would be great if that would be possible of course. However, it is like it is. :D

Fight Night lets you create a number of CABS, use one of them yourself in career mode and the rest will show up during your career as potential opponents. I believe this is what we all hoped for with Top Spin 3, sadly not.

They don't show up in your career as potential opponents. I am familiar with FN.

Are you familiar with all versions of Fight Night? Because in at least one of them spare CAB's of the same weight class your career is in do show up in the career mode as other opponents......

dude, if Ron has said that people you created cannot come up as a potential opponent in career mode then that should be that, there's no point comparing it with other games when someone who definitely knows their stuff tells you about it.

Excuse me "dude", the point I'm refuting is Ron saying "What you are asking has never been in any game I can think of." When I know for a fact that in at least one of the Fight Night's this was indeed a feature.

Be careful, there are those out there who are all too eager to declare you a "cry baby" and a "complainer" or report you to the mods for being concerned about a game a company wants you to purchase with your own money.

Grimbarian is totally right, there are tons of games that let you use your created players in career mode; of the top of my head, Winning Eleven does that which is a soccer game WWE smackdown games do that, and so on...
Apparently not only we cannot play against our created players in career mode, we cannot even play against them in regular tournament.
what a joke! Instead of justifying 2K's laziness, people should be complaining about this stuff.
Virtua tennis 3 doesn't have these options either but I bought it brand new from gamestop for 20$, now Top Spin 3 is going for 60$ plus tax which is crazy when they don't give you such trivial options such as choosing how many sets you wanna play in career mode or all this created players mess, and so forth.
If you guys are so stingy or can't afford to pay the actual players, then let us create them.
This was the last straw for me, I'll buy it when I find it in a sale bin for 20 bucks.

thanks for answering quickly. thats awesome about the player area. unfortunately i was hoping desperately for the latter question to have the opposite answer. Maybe you can suggest to the producers an editable roster so you can create players before you start career mode for top spin 4 seeing as it to be useful for creating our own versions of unsigned players for the game. anyways, theres always the downloadable content to look forward to.

You guys aren't completely understanding what I am saying. crow, you CAN do what you're talking about. You can play your own created characters. But for them to be inserted in a pre-designed career mode isn't done in any game that I know of.

OK I found out I might be wrong about this completely. It turns out you can use you char in career mode, it'll show up to face you in career mode, but you can't set when you face that character (for obvious reasons). Sorry about that.

That's great, and it's exactly how it works in the version of Fight Night I mentioned, if you play career mode as a heavyweight for example using a CAB of yourself, and you also have CABs of 3 other heavyweights, they will at some point be activated and show up as other fighters in your own career that you can end up facing, sometimes they don't show up right away, maybe not for the first year or whatever.......

Guess it turns out that you can only play as your created characters in exhibitions/tournaments, but you cannot play against your created characters in exhibitions and user created tournaments. Any chance you can use your connections to get some insight into why this is how it is, and if any sort of patch could remedy it? thanks.

PS3 Version
After playing this game continuously for the first week I have a major
issue that needs addressing.
This game crashes (freezes) on the 'warning' loading screen on average
once every 2 hours... if that's is not bad enough then the last time it
did this for me my created player and all stats i had built up was
deleted!!!!! (no i did not create a new career player)...
obviously the crash has corrupted the save file somehow. How Can 2k
release a game that resets itself after a mere 35 hours of game play??
Its bad enough that these crashes cause disconnections and losses to the
stats. I myself had a player that had played 112 games and lost just once.
Then 2 disconnections in tournaments and a player deletion.
A statement from 2K should have arrived by now just to say there will be a
fix for these concerns or they will surely have many many returns.

Thank you Top spin. I still have received a response. But that's ok. maybe you have too much mail to go through, maybe you have already made this sale so this customer dose not matter. maybe using red and black you don't need to worry about making money. that's ok. today I am going directly to ebgames to trade in my topspin3 for B Olympics because I don't think you have any intention of improving this game with updates. then I am going to ebay and ebgames to buy am many copies of topspin1 as I can find. so I will always have a excellent tennis game. Its obvious none of you have ever played top spin 1 because topspin2 and topspin3 done not even come close to topspin1. where I have over 50 full player created characters to chose from and they are all female Amazon gods. Thank you for giving us a voice so that we can voise our frustrations. and please revisit topspin1 before you make another tennis game.

Thanks you gbs777 for posting your garbage copy-paste into most threads you can. They wont change the game, it is like it is. Bring your game back and end this...
Better complain on things that matter for the players who like the game..

yeah funny eh ? ^^
Had that issue sometimes too and wanted to try if its a "bug" or if ppl using disconnects to win a match. As i have disconnected my internet from the xbox in a runnin match, i have lost the match.
So i have no idea if ppl exploiting a bug, or if its a random bug.
But i dont care about it anymore, im back to Virtua Tennis (less realistic, but much mroe fun)
Sorry but i cant see there any "fun". About this disconnect thingy... well if those people cant lose, u wont ever be able to do something against this ... in REAL life. I can count so many online platforms that handle this problem so easy, but nevermind.
And im just posting the last time here for one story that happened to me for the last 2 days. I Played all tourneys and won every except 2.... 2 times Mr.Disconnect gave me a loss because those people saw my rank and just turned off their internet.
No problem so far, so i had 31-2 stats instead of 33-0. (who cares) So i played the only thing that was possible then... speed games. Played some matches. I was rank 25... 10 minutes ago.
But then? Game Freeze in the lobby after some1 left the player vs player screen against me ( i guess he didnt like my rank ... ). So the freeze was really nice that i couldnt do anything to get out of the game.
I restarted my ps3. I wanted to log in ... and ... OH MY ****ING GOD ?
... choose a player ... U all know what this means. Character is deleted, all stats are gone AND my 100.000 SHOP POINTS ARE DELETED TO 0 ! to ****ing 0 !
2k, seriously never seen such an ******** like this. How can it happen that an online crash due to a ****ing bad programmed online platform, destroy my offline gained points ?
I will post this here in any thread where Mr.Ron aka "1-week-offline" will post in the next 2 years. Thats a great joke. And i guess that will happen the next months:
- no patch will be there
- no answer to my problem will be there
- no "i-care-about-our-customers" will be there
- no need to play this game anymore will be there
I guess u did your job 2k. sell a game, dont care about it then and leave the competition players alone. That are thoughts for the year 1999 maybe...but not for 2008 where online is like 70% or more for competition games like : sports games, driving simulations and shooter games.....
And what u did is just a mass production of all these games with a real bad connection between offline and online for at least top spin 3.
Greetings,
a customer that will never buy your games again. thx for reading.

I actually agree with Philipp R. The disconnect issue in online play has to be fixed, fast. I don't know if people are actually cutting their connection or if it's a random thing or something. But I know for sure that this **** is killing the whole online concept. I guess it's going to be fixed sometime, but it's going to damn slow, that's for sure. I'm glad I don't have a Xbox 360 so I have to actually pay for this crappy online gameplay. I feel sorry for those who have to pay.
