View Full Version : PS3 - no friends invite/private room/passworded

I've just had trouble getting in a game that a friend set up because someone else kept entering it first...we just had to keep trying - I imagine when more people get this game it will only get worse.
Surely if, as a dev, you can't sort a friends invite out then you could sort a passworded match/lobby and surely if you can't for whatever reason sort either of those functions out you could have some sort of 'accept challenger' feature so at least whomever set the game up could refuse the gamer if it wasn't the friend they were wanting to play?
This seems like such an obvious, and I would have thought standard, feature for online gaming....please 2K - could you at least explain why you can't do this or perhaps add it in a patch  ?

I just kick them
Just click the gamer and then click the square button and choose "Kick Player"
Works for me :)

yeah we've been doing that but that's not ideal and we've been there for longer than we should have to be until we finally get a game together - I presume as the online gets busier this will only get worse :thumbsdow :thumbsdow

I am in agreement with Fastolfe. I think they should look into implementing this with a patch of some sort. Online gaming for me is setting up a match with my friends and playing/chatting through the hours. When it will get busier online the chance of me and my friends getting in the same room as each other will get slimmer and slimmer.

I was really dissapointed when I found out I couldn't create a private gameroom for me and my friend. :thumbsdow When in 2005 Call of Duty 2 was released on the 360, it had the same issue. It took Activision/Infinity Ward several months to come up with a solution. I hope 2K won't make the same mistake and add this option asap.
But the fact that the option wasn't included in the first place, is simply a joke. Shame on you 2K

I wonder if when the ingame xmb comes out it will be possible - when you search for a room at the moment the ps3 'OS' comes up while it says searching for a room.
It would be nice if 2K would respond to this - at least give us an idea if friends invites or something similar is coming or not?

It is totally inexcusable in this day and age not to have an invite a friend feature. 2K really dropped the ball on this and I am thinking of returning the game and never getting anything else from them ever again. I wont even go into the lag problems. But if they can fix this invite friend through a patch, I would be satisfied. Other than that, it is a pretty good game. Just really shortsighted of them to not have this feature. Who wants to go through so much hassel to finally play a game with a friend?

its a very good gm once u get used to it but the online suck there is no voice chat or text there is no room or lobby to go to if u want to hook up with ur friends. this is a sorry excuse for an online gm every online gm has voice or text. 2k should know better then giving us this crappie online experience.
a patch can't solve those problem. they need to redo the whole thing . that will take a year so see u when topspin4 comes out if i buy that shipt

I know that Pam are the devs - but since their site is minimal and there doesn't seem to be anywhere on it to comment or give feedback and since this section is entitled 'Top Spin 3 Issues and Concerns' - 2K/PAM should be soaking this up...
It's just a shame there isn't anyone answering these questions from 2k or pam on these forums - a bit of feedback wouldn't go a miss.
(I agree about your comment on another post about getting competition from someone like ea Diabolicus - it's a shame that we even have to say that) - it's also a shame that they can't be held more accountable for their lack of service (excuse the pun). If you're going to dish out some sort of feeble attempt at an online system - why bother? unless of course they were rushed for time and are going to patch it..and if that's the case why the hell can't we be informed about it!
Why is it so few devs seem to want to interact with the people who ultimately pay their wages - Kudos to Criterion for doing this - I've learnt a lot about developing a game on a next gen console from their podcasts and it has cleared a lot of things up - surely it would stop a lot of fanboy waffle, speculation, and hearsay if we had answers and some sort of dialogue straight from the horses mouth?!
rant over.

Friend invites are so fundamental to the online component of any game i'm absolutely stunned to discover this is not available. When i purchase a game which features online play, I don't check whether it is available, I just assume its there.
I'm not usually a big online multi-player fan, but i bought this game primarily to play against a friend who i encouraged to buy topspin3. I feel like i owe my mate a refund!
This is terrible!

I am on the same baot. I bought Top Spin 3 for the PS3 to play online with my brother. We couldn't believe that the direkt connection to a friend is not possible. But since I now love this game very much and don't want to sell it again: Has anyone got any new information about a possible patch to bringt this option soon??? I did send an email to customerservice@2ksports.com asking about it, but never got any answer.
In the games advertisement it says: Test your skills online with your friends. ...
I call that a full lie ...
