PS3 only playing in 720

i have a samsung hdtv that supports 1080i and 1080p, the back of the box for the game says it supports it also but when i load the game with 720 turned off the game goes to 480 instead of 1080. does anyone else have this problem or does the game just not support the highest definition even though the box says it.

I got the same problem. Here is the solution.
Go to the display set-up screen in your ps3 and choose hdmi then disable all the display formats but the 1080p. Then restart the game. It will automatically force that display.

I can confirm for sure, that TS3 on PS3 does not support 1080i at the current patch level.

No matter what you do, even if using HDMI cable, it drops down to 720p. The US packaging clearly states support for 1080i and 1080p* (1080p requires an HDMI cable). For me, using component cables, TS3 immediately drops down to 720p. Even worse, if I do not have 720p selected in my PS3 settings, it drops down to 480i (heh).

For those in UK and Europe the box only claims 720p (due to PAL I guess).

Can someone from 2K Sports please comment on this thread. Will this be addressed in a future patch. I can go over my friends house and watch him play TS3 at 1080i on his XBox 360. Why you have to play us PS3 users like that! :)

Is this just a case of false advertising to get us to pay the $59.00 for the game. ;o) Heck, even VirtuaTennis supports 1080i. You guys gonna let them school you like that!?

i have US version. i have 60 gig ps3 and will only play this game in 720, also since i purchased top spin 3 my version of nba 2k8 will now only play in 720 as well(used to play fine in 1080).

i am wondering if the update inlcuded with top spin 3 somehow screwed up the HD settings.

somebody please help.

someone with 2k would respond to this. i have seen several postings of this problem on various website. if it only effected my top spin 3 i would not be so concerned, but now my nba 2k8 only plays in 720 as well. these are currently the only games i have and i'm concerned the problem will carry over. i guess i will just have the delete top spin files and trash the game if the problem continues. really sucks because i was so looking forward to this game.

I have an australian version of ts3 on ps3 and it says it only supports 720, is there a higher support is it, I have a plasma which has a 1080p chip built in but I only seem to be able to play it in 720 which still looks fantastic, if there is another way plese tell me ,i hav e ahdmi cable and all. Thanks fans

No there isn't and there's no point in asking Admin for patches. It's like trying to get blood out of a stone. Personally i think they've run away now they have their money from us gameplayers.
