http://cdn.overstock.com/images/products/P10667067.jpgThe Heat suffered a horrible season during 08. After shipping out Hall of fame candidate Shaquille O'Neal for Shawn Marion everything went down hill. The heat completely crumbled and only gathered a measly 4 wins. After all that was over another blow hit Miami the retirement of Pat Riley, After that owner Micky Arison fired GM Randy Pfund Miami Went out and hire Ricky Mathis as head coach and GM. Coach Mathis had this to say:

Coach Mathis: Mr. Arison knows what he is doing and that is why he hired me as head coach and GM. He doesn't want to see another year like last year so he hired the right person.....

Reporter:Coach some say you are too reckless to manage a team, what do you think of that comment?

Coach Mathis:Well apparently Mr. Arison thinks that my so called "reckless" management is what he wants for his team, so I have nothing else to say.(Coach Mathis leaves conference)

Stuart Scott: Welcome to the NBA draft were we are seconds away from hearing who the number one pick is.

David Stern:With the number one pick in the 2008 NBA draft the New Jersey Nets select the 6'6 SG Daryl Kemp out of Georgia University.

David Stern:With the number two pick the Washington Wizards select 6'4 PG out of Houston University John Smith

David Stern:With the number three pick in the 2008 NBA draft the Miami Heat select the 6'9 PF out of UMass Clark Park

This just in the Miami heat have traded their second round pick and Udonis Haslem for Donnell Marshall and the Cavs number six pick.

David Stern:With the six pick in the 2008 NBA draft the Miami Heat select the 6'2 PG out of BYU Corey Overton

The draft filled a couple of need in a PF and PG but the rest of the roster had yet to be filled. Mathis went into free agency with a purpose he signed Nenad Krstic, Jalen Rose,Craig SMith, milie ilic, Lindsay Hunter, and Derek Anderson.

After free agency the team headed straight to training camp and worked hard, for the next season.

Heat win 109-103

Miami came into this game the underdog, and pretty much cemented that status in the second quarter. The Heat only scored 13 points in the second while the hornets scored 33. The hornets protected their lead until the end of the third quarter, when DWade posterized Tyson Chandler and sparked the come back in the fourth.

Is Park more of a defensive or offensive minded player?
