First off...Pacquiao is a monster. Jesus. A lesser man than Diaz would've been dropped for good within 3.
Secondly, the Soto DQ. I have never seen a decision deemed so horrible that it made the ANNOUNCER CRY. Did you see Steward? He was in tears telling us that he promised his family he would never curse on air, and that he may have to break the promise tonight, all the while crying and pointing to the ring saying "That was bad...THAT WAS BAD". I've never seen something like it in boxing...wow.
Also, awesome first round KO. I like how they tried to feed him to another giant like Valuev to show how "awesome" the big white guy is, and it COMPLETELY BACKFIRED. DOWN YOU GO, GLASS JOE. How about that for a pushover fight?
Thoughts?

When I saw Pacquiao vs Morales III I thought to myself that this is the best Manny will get. For the next three fights with Solis, Barrera, and Marquez that thought was kind of true. In those fights imo Manny didn't have that same firepower that he had with that fight with Morales. This fight with David Diaz really caught me be surprise. It seemed that Pacman got even better and that claim that he improved his right hand was true. The style he fought Morales back then was evident in this fight. This was defintitely worth the 50 dollars.
And David Diaz is one funny guy.

What a great attitude he had toward the whole thing...Very entertaining guy who you can tell loves the sport, and truly isn't discouraged in the face of anything....My favorite exchange when Lampley tried to get him to use a word other than "f*ck" to describe Pacquiao...:
Diaz: He was just so f*cking fast.
Lampley: So you're saying he was amazingly fast?
Diaz: Yes, f*cking amazingly fast....

Manny destroyed him, but Diaz is not a great boxer, He imo is above average. He doesnt have power, he doesnt have speed. he has decent defense and a tremendous heart. It's to bad that a guy with that much heart cannot be gifted.
Manny is a great great fighter. I am not taking that away from him, but Diaz just isnt on the same level. Not even close. He only beat Morales becuase lets face Morales has been in to many wars. and his body is done.

The second most entertaining portion of the card (after the main event itself) was David Diaz's post-fight interview. He fought with a lot of heart, and showed a lot of class in defeat, as well as a talent for the mic in the post-fight interview:
"[The cut] didn't bother me, but I thought he had a knife. It's like he was hitting me with a blade. I thought [Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach] was in there hitting me too. What can I say? I lost today, I'll win tomorrow. To go like that with a guy like Manny Pacquiao... shiiiiit, I think I'm doing pretty good."

Morales in that third fight was done. He did it for the money, to think manny looked all that great in that fight is not far off base, but you can't read too much into it because of the state that morales was in. Likewise, Diaz was one of the worst champions in the whole sport. Barely cracked the top 10 in his own division. Nobody should read anything into this, seriously.
Furthermore, talks have already started for a Pacman - Valero Showdown in November in Texas. Valero KO's PAC in 10. Mark my words, you heard it here guys.

I thought it was an entertaining fight, but certainly a mismatch and not worth 50 bucks. I'm just happy my buddy was getting it. All I had to bring was beer :D Pac-man looked unbelievable in this fight and at the new weight. I think even though this was against Diaz, who is not a world class guy by any means despite his incredible heart, I think Pacquaio is comfortable at this new weight and not having to cut quite as much. He looks stronger and faster while not looking pudgy or anything. This is, in my opinion, the right weight for him and I think he's going to be a incredibly tough guy for anyone in the division to beat. Now that being said, I think moving up to fight Hatton may be a mistake. Only reason being that Manny may be too small for Junior Welter. I think he could beat Hatton if they fought, but the size difference may be a factor. That being said, I can't wait to see Manny fight again.

Edwin Valero has great punching power but seriously who has he fought? I saw a couple of videos of Valero's fights and while the punching power is there he looks slow and he is very open when he throws punches. He has a lack of defense as well. It should be an interesting fight though with two fighters known for their knockouts. Manny will frustrate him by moving around the ring and with the speed of his punches. I say Manny by KO in 7.

Valero reminds me of Pacquiao before he hooked up with Freddie Roach. A lot of raw punching power and speed, but he has poor form and is wildly inefficient. I don't think he'd be able to take out an experienced Pacquiao at 135 lbs., but who knows?

I thought Gamboa was going to fight Valero. Any know what happened to that? Anyways, I dont think Valero has enough experience to hang with Manny,YET. I think Valero should fight at least 1 top 135 pounder before he even thinks about fighting Manny.

I don't know what happened to it, but clearly it's not in the cards right now ....ESPN has Gamboa vs. Jose Rojas on July 18.
