still dont see how people are considering broadway joe as a gold caliber qb. the kid made one guarantee and delivered on it. look at these stats and tell me he should be a gold.
Namath retired after playing in 77 wins, 108 losses and 3 ties. In his career he threw 173 touchdowns and 220 interceptions and a career QB Rating of 65.5.
and hitman while we are on the subject is it too late to submit players for this dl draft???

I'm not gonna dis nor defend Namath. I will say this: that stats aren't everything. Exampe: Some peeps here have trashed Bradshaw's stats. The ones that matter most are 4 Super Bowl wins. Then those peeps start talking about the team he had around him. To that I say: 2 Super Bowl MVPs. Nuff said.
ETA-Nice work nflhitman

Football is a team sport. Super Bowls mean very, very little. Trent Dilfer and Jeff Hostetler have rings. So they are awesome... right? Get real. And up until 1996, Elway was a loser to the mainstream, then he gets a defense and HB finally and now he's a legend. Face it, football is not hockey, where a goalie can lead a buster squad to a cup or basketball where one or two players can truely dominate.
Stats are the best way to determine a football player's skill. What great QB skill can Montana or Bradshaw have that makes the defenses stop people? Sideline leadership?
This will be debated forever, but I'm sorry, there's no way individuals can be measured in football by rings. Half of the time, these great ring winners are standing on the sidelines watching. If Aikman's defense gets stops or turnovers and Marino's defense gives up long drives for touchdowns; how accurate can that be as a measuring stick?
I find that people who actually played football, lean towards looking at the stats to determine talent and the rest of the couch potatoes, who only watch it on TV, go with rings.

Of cource, They play for money. All sports these days is get your money first and your ring second. Look at the Celtics this year or Junior Seau's attempt to retire from the fins and jump on a winning team(they lost though)HA HA. Fans will always measure greatnest with Rings. We should. We are the ones who yell at our Tv's and pull out our hair.
I love football. We all know who is good. Winning a Ring is just so tough and such a milestone.
Every year I say this is the Year we win the big one.
I think every fan feels the same way.
You measure an organization with rings.
A player is measured by stats.
Still though so few players get to go to or win a Super Bowl.
Look at the Gold list of Legends. Who never one.
Marino
Sanders
Moon
Campbell
Just to name a few on the offence.

The problem with stats as the 'end all be all' is that football is a team sport. So an individual's stats may suffer/be better due to those around him. So winning can -at times- be a yard stick for how great a player is.

Namath wasnt exactly known for pin point accuracy
Honestly, if we was in the game, he'd probably be a silver.
Anyway, Id go, clutch and leadership.

football is the ultimate team game, no one player has EVER won a super bowl by hisself, i mean like simon x belmont said Elway was considered a bad quarterback(even if the stats said differently) until he won a title, not really fair, but true. To say a quarterback who wins a title is now a great quarterback is the biggest farce in all of sports. I mean if you give Dan Marino the ravens defense how many titles would he have had??? yes namath has a title, but to say he is a elite quarterback is a stretch, and i will admit until today I had no idea he was in the hall of fame, and looking at those numbers if he got in then Brad johnson should be a first ballot inductee, and i know that wont happen. i mean if you need one drive to win the superbowl, how many qb's would you pick before you pick broadway joe, probably about 50 so to say he is a elite qb is a stretch and then some.

The Draft debate for players moving from Tier or different attribute is open until Friday @ midnight. If you think Namath isn't a Gold post it and if you want someone added post that also. I will say that if someone is in the HOF it will be hard to deter me from moving him down from Gold. I will say that the Tier placement is not 100% right IMO even in the game of APF. I don't understand how someone like Bart Starr with all his Rings is a Silver while Moon & Marino are Gold.

If Bart Star is a Silver, Namath should definitely be a silver.
Anyways, Namath:
Quick Release
Clutch
Namath does not deserve leadership!!!!! Watch the America's Game for the Jets. He was anti-leader for most of the year. They made him a Team Captain as a joke, to try to get HIM to smarten up.

I actually remember seeing that Americas game LOL. You are right about the Leadership. He was posted as a Gold in my very first league. Since so many have said he should be a Silver I will change him to silver with the attributes you listed JUIC3D 3.

His stats are misleading. In those early days they didnt throw as much so he is a Gold because of his impact on his team and the game. He also played safety.

Otto Graham played in the same time period and doubled his stats and played only 2 more seasons then him.
