Now i am not a huge online player with hockey games, but the one thing i like doing is using the downloadable roster feature, so as a wii owner am i going to suffer and not have guys like stamkos in my game because of this feature. Basically it is a repeat preformance as ea did to the ps2 owners last year, which would suck. Still want the version but i hate taking time to create a player when i never seem to get the stats accurate

Stamkos will preobably be in the game already and if not you can just make him with around the smae stats as Malkin from 2k8. It won't be exact but you'll have a fair represenation.

sorry to burst your bubble but he won't be in the game from the get go.
it is a policy with the NHLPA if a player has not played an offical NHL yet "HE WILL NOT BE IN THE GAME 110% FOR SURE"

I'm pretty sure that won't always be the case. EA's series already has non-NHLPA players through the AHL, so we know that the NHLPA isn't the only way they get their names.
It's only a matter of time until they start getting the rights to the top prospects' likenesses before they play their first NHL games.

I guess that's possible...if they some how opt out of the union.
How does the AHL part of it work (I'm not familiar with EA's game)? Do they only use AHLers who have seen NHL action, or are they just licenced through the AHLPA to use all the names? Either way, it doesn't really help with rookies being in the game.

im sorry if i wasn't clear wat i meant was that they are probably planning to add Stamkos in a roster update in early October or something like that. I realize that he will not be in the game initially so we PS2 owners will hav to get along w/out him (i hav a Wii but im not wastin my $$$ on the Wii Version when the PS2 version will be SOOOO much better)
Wish i had a 360

I don't think the AHL has a player's association, so I don't think they'd need a player to opt out for a game to have their rights (I don't think they can play in the NHL without being in the NHLPA...). Who knows, though?

The AHL is part of the Pro Hockey Players Association.

Well, no online for the Wii version, so hopefully 2K would provide a downloadable roster file for the Wii. But considering their failure to do so with MLB2K, I wouldn't get my hopes up...
