Agreed. Gamboa is going to be something else. And his handlers aren't moving him along slowly either. Well they shouldn't anyway because of his amateur experience. He's got all the ingredients to make a great fighter. He should have a title no later than mid 09. His defense is the only thing that really worries me, but hopefully we will see improvements in that area in his next fight.

He has a great combination of speed and power, which is highly saught after in boxing. His defense is suspect, but if he keeps kayoing everyone, many will fear him enough to give him space, and be afraid to throw at him because his handspeed will allow him to beat them to the punch. I wish he was a tad younger though. Hes already 27 or so, so I feel a little bit cheated. Oh well, I'm sure he provide some fireworks for at least another 6-8 years.

He's talented and packs quite a punch, but as you guys have already noted, his defense is dismal. I'd like to see him against some better competition and not just some cans, though, to see what he can really do. He didn't look that good against Darling Jimenez a couple of months ago... he won the fight on points but his weaknesses were really exposed that night, so much so that his manager fired his long-time trainer a couple of hours after the fight.

Very good point. That's the Tyson mentality right there. lol. Not too sure how good he is at fighting going backwards. Yeah I forgot he was 27. Well at least he making his mark now.

That was definitely a rough night for him. That was the second fight I seen him in. After his first fight I was all over the board making posts about him saving boxing and then he goes out in the next fight with a performance like that. lol. But his handlers aren't playing around. They mean business. Especially since they got rid of his trainer that fast. There may have been other issues there as well, but you can tell they are not waiting around for any setbacks.

Defense is something that can be worked on, his raw talent is something tha cannot be taught, its just an ability. He's had to get up off the floor a couple of times, but has yet to be really hurt. Hopefully his new trainer will work consistently on the defensive aspects of the sport, cuz there is not much he needs to learn when it comes to offense. He's is as close to the total package as I've seen in the last few years. Who is training him now??????

Last I heard it was Cuban expat Ismael Salas (guy who used to train super middleweight alphabet title-holder Danny Green).
