View Full Version : Clottey beats Judah

after 8 or 9 rounds Judah gets a cut over his eye and the doctor clears him to fight but Judah claims he can't see and the after a few test of fingers Judah could not name them correctly so the Ref stops the fight. The ref said the cut started by accidental headbutt. Replays show it was a uppercut. They go to the score cards and Clottey was winning the fight so he wins the IBF Welterweight Championship. I personal think Judah just wanted to quit since he was getting hit repeatedly by Clottey. Non the less Clottey is the IBF Champion and would be great if him and Margarito fight again :D He says if he doesn't get the rematch he will want to fight Andre Berto.

I don't think it is fair to say that about Cotto. Even if he never recovers from this loss, he has way too much class, and way too much heart to end up like Zab.

MY BAD, i cant belive i said that. Cotto does have more class. more heart, & will come back better than anything ZAB ever did. MY BAD for saying such things. I was one of the true cotto haters on the low (probly why i say this). But he got mad respect from me now, he's a true soldier. I SLAP MYSELF for comparing him to judda.

shadio: true boxing fan You never know man you might be right...what if he goes up against someone with good defense and good counter puncher with power? He just hasn't proved anything to me yet. Beating Judah is like a walk in the park Lol and Mosley is no longer in his prime. He still has a chance to do something though but he just hasn't proven anything to me yet. Back on topic..I can't stand Judah..I lost what Lil respect I had for him.

^^^naw man, cotto fought hard, very hard. He tried his normal plan of attack & when things got rough he took it like a MAN, a worrior. He left it all in the ring & thats a foolish thing to do, but it's also a strong showing of being a man & showing MUCH PRIDE for what he stands for. ZAB is truelly a coward & a punk for giving up & cheating & a liar & a gimmick boxer & just being a straight JOKE for boxing. He punked out for all america to see..........this lets you know that the bully is truelly the punk. Cotto proved me wrong in so many ways, but the strange thing about this is that i saw this LONGGGgggg time ago when he was on the undercard fights. i KNEW cotto would be trouble sooner or later (i warned my uncle) even though i dont like his stlye & i still dont belive he's the next trinadad.

ALSO tonight i want to CONGRATES MAX KELLERMEN for his funny interviews. He tells it like it is. NOT LIKE LARRY MERCH lol.....

I still don't see the guy as an elite fighter. Every time I watch the fight now the worse Cotto looks to me. Cotto was tired after the 6th round and looked like he didn't want to fight anymore. Looked like fear in the mans eyes. Thats just my opinion though.

That was probably Zab's last chance to earn top billing status, at least as a welterweight. I don't think too many promoters will want him to be headlining a main event after his last few disappointing performances: the loss to Baldomir (billed as the "upset of the year" in 2006), the UD loss to Mayweather and the subsequent suspension because of the low blow and hits to the head in that fight along with the near-riot, the TKO loss to Cotto, and now this. I mean he's not only lost his last 4 fights, but he's lost them in some of the worst ways possible.

It also doesn't help that most casual boxing fans probably best remember Zab for the "chicken dance" he did after Kosta Tszyu clocked him in 2001 and him choking referee Jay Nady for calling the TKO.

I won't fake but Zab use to be one of my top fighter's. I always felt he had so much more talent then the opponents he was facing. When he first came out many were saying he was the next Pernell Whittaker because they had similar styles.

Both being south paw and at times the two of them use to sparr together. But Zab street life started to take control and it started to show after his first loss to Tszyu. To me once that loss to Tszyu, Zab never really been the same after that.

There be night's where Zab will walk up in the clubs with his titles. Getting involved with dumb stuff on the street's and started to head down that same road as Mike Tyson. His performence in the ring against bums was horrible like Carlos Baldamir. A fight Judah should have easily won had he showed up for it. The same could have been said in his first fight against Spinks.

Judah likes to strike that fear of Brooklyn NY in his opponents. But that crap don't work in the ring. It don't matter where you from you can get your azz beat anywhere.

Zab just never took his career as serious like most fighter's. I'm not saying he didnt love the sport but I don't think he had the same passion as most of the top fighter's out there today. I think his mind was in the right place before his loss to Tszyu, and to Judah he felt the fight was waved off to soon.

It was a championship fight and he was taking it to Tszyu in the first round. Next thing you know he got hit clean and fell down, only to get back up to soon to show the world he wasnt hurt. Then that delay reaction came in and Zab Judah created the chicken dance!

A lot of people don't realize that fight hurt Zab because it's not how you want to lose your first fight. Same as with Roy Jones when he hit the guy after he took a knee and Jone end up getting DQ. Only difference is Jones avenged that loss by brutal KO.

I always felt welterweight was not the weight Zab should be fighting at. He doesnt have the power to hurt those stronger fighters. Those guys are just to big and strong for him which is why he always get's broken down. He would have done better if he stayed at 140 and took on cat's like Hatton or maybe Gatti. He has the boxing skills to fight at welterweight but that can only take you so far.

Max Kellermen said it best, It's just a shame that a talented fighter like Judah started to take boxing serious this late in his career at age 30.

To me Zab Judah was a good boxer but never was an elite fighter. He looked good against club fighter's because of his boxing skills. But he always came up short whenever he took on an elite fighter. The same could easily be said about Vargas, good fighter but never won the big fight's.

ALSO I LIKE TO CONGRATES MAX KELLERMEN....For putting Floyd out there and letting the world know how he didnt fight the best in his weight class. How he retired just to avoid fighting them. He even crack down on Floyd legacy in the sport, And to be honest every word he spoke about Floyd was the truth.

And like Margarito said.." Floyd didnt want to fight me the first time, After last week fight he definitely not going to want to fight me now"

you could never put your money on Zab...case in point...

this was one spirited performance by Zab....he showed me a lot........then as much good as i can say, he does the unthinkable........

i think the reason he told the the doc that he couldnt see from his eye was because he thought he was up and he didnt want to fight anymore after the fact that the ref said it was a accidental headbutt. he was basically trying to rob clottey of his momentum.....

but the cards show it was too late. it didnt work...and he ends up on the wrong side of the stick...

IMO as things become evident from this fight day by day, people will not want to see judah in the ring with the top guys anymore......he's messing his legacy up with the nonsense.

he should've kept fighting.....period!

^^^i AGREE

also these acts from zab are now not even entertaining anymore. It's really just slimmy tactics he's pullin off in the ring for the world to see. Who is ZAB trying to please with this garbage fights??? The worst was when zab tried his BEST to get out of the FLOYD fight when he knew he was done (he did the exact same thing last night). He knew floyd would have to go to the scorecards, but FLOYD said no no nooooo it's time to countinue woopin that A%^ (i respected floyd so much more after that night). The worst part of the whole thing is that those people who paid to see a boxing match got more of a TV DRAMA.

OK ZAB JUDDA IS CERTIFIED: DUCK (i would use a much stronger word but this aint hbo)

Zab lost and that's nothing new. Kinda wanted to cheer for him, but I've liked Clottey for awhile, and felt like a loss to Judah would do some serious harm to his career. You guys can't tell me it wasn't funny when Judah looked at the footage of his cut and try to lie about it saying it was a headbutt, but when he watched the actual reaction he had to a clear left uppercut, he had that "Awww damn, they caught me" look.

No more chances for Zab. He's had more ring chances than any boxer of his shakiness should have, especially in a division where there is no shortage of talent, or names. Zab needs to hang it up. One last thng....... I don't want to see Clottey fight Berto. I'm a Berto fan and don't believe he's quiet ready yet. I really wish he didn't have that belt yet, but he does and I'll have to see if he can hold on to it for awhile. Berto needed about another year of devlopement in my book, maybe 2.

Can't knock Clottey for going after a untested champ.

He actually won his last fight back in Dec.

My bad, I forgot about that fight he had in the Turks and Caicos islands for the laughable IBC "light middleweight" title (not that anybody really thinks the "light middleweight" division is legit, or the IBC for that matter). Also forgot about his win over Vazquez in Mississippi last year.

Regardless, he's lost most of his recent fights that were against legit fighters, and I think this loss to Clottey has him out of the welterweight contender picture for good.

I was pulling for Zab this weekend. Just like I do in every single one of his fights. Personally I would like to see him go back down to 140 or retire. These guys are a little too big for him imo. Clottey is ok. I'm not a fan of his or anything, but I will keep an eye on him and root for him depending on who he's fighting. Pretty good defense on this guy.

Thats what gave Margarito problems in their fight.

Ya zab needs to stay at 140. He came in weigh in at 143 at welter vs clottey and then only put on 4 pounds on fight night. That tells me his body isnt welter because most fighters can put on 10 pounds after weigh in on fight night very easily.

He wants the big names at welter but there are also big names at 140 where he can use his hand speed and power and i think he will be much more effective at that weight.

Zab Judah to me is one of the biggest wastes of talent. He's got a lot of skill and natural ability but his attitude and demenor get in the way. I'm not saying the guy would have been an all time great, but he would have done a lot more in his career than he has. Lets be honest. He looked great against Kostya until he got caught because, as usual, he got overconfident and backed up with his hands down. Then he got ****ed when the ref called the fight even though he was stumbling around the ring like he was drunk. All downhill from there. But that being said, good win for Clottey, as I also had him ahead on the scorecards at the time they stopped the fight. But I don't see Margarito wanting to fight him again simply because it's not a fight that others outside of hardcore boxing fans want to see and Margarito beat him once, allbeit being a close fight. Speaking of Margarito, do you guys think De La Hoya will actually fight him? I'm on the fence about it. Oscar's always fought the best, but that's a fight that even Oscar has a hard time seeing himself winning at this stage in his career.

Zab Judah needs a different trainer. Someone like an Emanuel Stewart or a Teddy Atlas, someone who won't take his bullshlt! Yoel Judah acts like an azz himself and really enables Zab to be the idiot that he is. Zab had too much talent for his career to go like it did. I think he should've changed trainers at least 4 or 5 years ago. Probably too late now.

And Oscar is afraid of Margarito, he will not go near him. I never thought i would call Oscar a coward, but that's what he's acting like. He should be embarrassed to fight Pacquiao over Margarito.
