I know that it is huge advantage of playing at home in real life. I kn ow when I went to the NFC Championship game in Seattle the crowd noise was so loud when the Panthers had the ball you couldnt even talk to the person next to you without literally yelling in the ear. That also explains the record the Seahawks have at home compared to on the road. The 12th man is a huge advantage in Quest Field.

I kind agree with amid on this.

I think, in this game, home field advantage plays a little part in the game in terms of momentum. Basically if you are the away team, you really need to not give the home team any gimmes: turnovers, failed 4th down conversions, etc and you need to play very smart: good field position, taking your time getting up the field, etc. If you play wreckless, it seems like the Home team's momentum works really hard against you, but if you can manage to brreak a big play (ie: TD, clutch 3rd down conversion, forcing a turnover), then follow it up with smart play, the momentum seems to shift severely back to the Away team.

I've had many games where I was down bad as the Away team and played smart the rest of the way, slowly plugging away to catch up but never trying to go for the huge plays. I'd play for good field position & would never leave points off the board (ie: going for FGs) and I would come back a lot of times because I would never allow the momentum to swing directly to the Home team.

You know - I hadn't really paid attention to this before. Hmmm.

Perhaps if we started some kind of log (a very simple one), and just put in:

Home/Away Winner score, and margin of victory. Then I could keep a running tally over, say 100 games (wouldn't take long), and that would give us a rough percentage on home field advantage, and how large that advantage is. It wouldn't be terribly scientific, because the teams and skill levels will fluctuate wildly, but still...

I think with home field, the momentum is easier to get. As the away team, it's harder to get the momentum than it is to be a home team. I think that's the only boost you really get.

It is a lot more beneficial after you have learned your opponents tendancies to start the 2nd half with that knowledge.

Because people want the ball later in the game, so they can either comeback from a deficit or make the lead larger.

Say I'm playing you, and there's two minutes left. It's tied 7-7. I have the ball and start going downfield, and end up scoring a touchdown. I'm up 14-7. Now it's halftime. If I had defered, then I get the ball now and can go downfield and make it a two possession game. If I had received, then you can go down the field and either tie it up or make the lead smaller. It just seems smarter to defer IMO.

He goes into a big hit animation, jars the ball loose while the guy is still in the air, then recovers the fumble himself. !!!!

So yeah - if you have Deron Cherry, make absolute certain that he's in your onside kick recovery team.

How is that a valid argument? When you start the game with the ball you opponent dosen't know what you do on Offense.

I think people do it because it can give them 2 possesions in a row in case they are down say 14 points with 2 minutes left in 1st half and have the ball.

i think it works somewhat in this game but only online, or atleast those ar ethe only times it's worked for me. i was down 14 points and i couldn't stop his running game then i got one field goal and after that he couldn't do anything on me and i won 17-14. in another game i was winning by 6 and i recieved the 2nd half kickoff and he stopped me once and for about the next 4 drives i went 3 and out of close but i still won 13-0

Just the reason, guys without a special teams demon should not be allowed on kickoffs and punts. way too easy to fumble on ST plays espically if a defensive player is returning, even if that defensive player has a return spe ability.

Soon we will have the entire first offense/defense on the field on kick offs. I have seen this already in some games.

Yeah, i was down by 24 points going into the 4th quarter the other day, and i scored 28 points. I lost, because i did something really boneheaded and it cost me on the last play of the game. :( Sometimes though, the computer does do suspect things, but i seen it done with me being the home team and away team.

Yep. Who hasn't given up a clutch offensive play because the ball goes straight through your defenders hands? Had a play that other day where the ball hits my defender in the chest as the WR is slanting behind him. The ball hits him in the chest, bounces forward like it's going to fall to the ground then in mid air for no reason goes back towards the LB, hits the lb in the chest again, but instead of bouncing back forward, wraps around the LB and is sucked into the WRs hands. ****ing crazy.

In the lobby I usually play on the road because people rarely accept my challenges anyway so yeah I'm starting to see the most ridiculous things happen because of homefield advantage including more instances of the focus bug. I think it happens at a higher rate on the road than at home.

I think the whole perception about momentum comes from the fact that this game is so dang schitzo.

I can tell within the 1st set of downs, whether or not I am going to get a good day out of my AI teammates, or whether I am going to be spending most of the game, plugging holes in the dam.

Momentum feels so fragile in this game. I can use a defensive team and be completely in control for 3 quarters winning by 10 points but all of a sudden I miss a 30 yard field goal and the flood gates open and I'm fighting for my life to get out of that game with a W. Making a field goal is worth more than the points alone it seems, it is worth momentum.

As far as home field goes, I never really notice it, but I don't pay close attention to it either.

Me and Leeroy played game 1 yesterday and I won that one 17-14, So we decided to have a rematch today again. This game started out the exact same way yesterday's game did with Leeroy missing a 40 yard field goal. I pulled the old Leeroy out of my had and dropped back and threw up a BOMB to Herman Moore who came down with it at the 1 yard line. I scored a TD on the next play. halftime saw me leading 14-3 with me getting the ball back. To make a long story short, I was leading 21-10 with 2:15 left in the 4th qtr and he was punting because it was 4th and 32 for him and he lost connection. I got the win, he got the loss...So I'm guessing the situation he was in, he just turned off his XBox. It was a good game. But I don't really think he can beat me anymore. I'm willing to let him try everyday if he wants....

You would have never completed your one fade to Rice if I had not hot zoned my outside linebacker to a Deep right zone, once I did that, it causes my safety to play different. So had I not done that, My safety would have been right there on that fade to rice. The only reason I even did the lob to Moore on the 1st play of the game was because that's your play and I wanted to do it just to **** you off. I was as suprised as you that it actually works.
