Not that they haven't before. To bring this on topic, we had all hoped to see Brett Favre in All Pro Football sometime soon since he retired. Well, not only is it not happening, we have some degree of verification that he's going to Tampa Bay:
http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/26013997/
(Update - apparently the Jets are in the mix now???)
Anyway - someone at EA marketing had a genius idea for breaking the Madden curse, which was to put Brett Favre on the cover. No way possible for the curse to take hold. I fully expected to hear that Favre would be hospitlized during the season from choking on a Frito while watching a Packers game.
Well now he's playing. Mr. "Beyond Durable" is on the cover of Madden. He's never missed a start.
Mark my words - this DOES NOT END WELL.

Here is the official explanation of what's going on right now....
Favre knew that if he retired, then he would be able to be placed in the Greatest football game of all time...which is APF2K9, But then after it was official that there was not going to be a 2K9, He unretired so he could still be in the 2nd rate game.

Curses is something that seems to Jinks the Madden Cover athlete...But it sure doesnt curse the sales...Madden 09 might sell more than Madden 08 because favre is on the cover alone...Do anyone have any news on EA and Take two? is EA still trying to buyout Taketwo..Its has been awhile since I read anything about this?

I don't think there will be a madden curse, Brett can rest easy.
But I hope Aaron Rodgers plays well, if not he'll take Rex Grossman's spot as the most disgraced qb......

Someone's sense of humor is broken.
Actually, through the magic of being a moderator, I've looked, and you've made 15 posts, and of those 15, 13 of them were either 2K trolling, or supporting EA over 2K in one way or another. Hmm.....plant?

At least, now that he's back in football the curse will only mess him up on the field.
If he would have stayed retired he probably would have died or something.

He's going to die on the field.
Gerbil related.

Gerbil-related, huh?
I look forward to reading the explanation of that - however, I will be making a point of not watching his games as a precaution, because I'm pretty much certain I don't want to *see* that.
I always thought LT's last hit on Joe Theismann was hard to watch - that might just top it.

Farve is going the jets. Me personally? whatever happens I could really care less. Farve in a way delt the hand coming out of retirement continuing to push the issue over and over and over again. I for one believe that.

I wonder if EA will repackage the game with a new Favre cover that has the Jets uniform photoshopped on it.

As far as I know, they're still trying to buy them out. I can't find the link but, it says something like they can't take action until August 21st. I hope nothing happens.

Wow your dumb enough to think the most durable QB is gonna get hurt behind 4 #1 picked linemen.
The Madden cursed was broke last year. VY only missed one game and of course who didn't see him getting injured sonner or later as much as he likes to scramble. McNabb is a scrambler and he's always getting hurt before and after his apperance on the Madden cover.

Always you say? McNabb was hurt one time before the cover.

I read today in the paper they are going to make a printable replacement cover for everyone to use instead.

One... I don't believe in curses.
Two... glad to see Favre back in the game now that he is on the cover.
They both need to be retired.
Three... the dumb thing was EA actually believing Favre retired. LOL!
Four... Favre explanation is the other dumb thing. How many years does he think he can just hijack a team during its planning stages that involve cutting/replacing/signing players?
Finally... he never impressed me.

I heard that you can't play 16 game seasons online.
Only 32 games. :rotfl:
Madden is such a joke.

Simply put, it's a round robin tournament, and the only schedule option is how many times each team plays each other (1,3,5,7,9 or 11). So basically, if you have 32 teams, the minimum number of games you can play is 31. I can't believe anyone thought this was a good idea.
