i hear people talk about out routs and corner routs being cheesy.
out routes in this game ARE cheesy. watch any player throw the ball to a receiver running an out route and this is what you'll see: the receiver is anywhere from covered on his outside flank to quadruple covered by a db, linebacker and two safeties... and once the ball is thrown the defenders on the outside will swerve inside and the all the others will stop in their tracks leaving the receiver wide open. i call that FAKE, STUPID, CHEESY.
but, a corner route on the other hand is jsut like any other route, and will only be succesful if the player is actually open. it's also easier than most to intercept because it is more than often, at least effectively, a cross field pass that gives the defenders ample time to cut off the pass and take it for 6.
maybe 2k knew that there would be many low scoring and/or lopsided games because of the people it knows regularly play their games. that's probably why there are glitches like this programmed into the game. that's why they won't put out a patch to fix it. so that losers like YOU (the people who argue with me) can win.

The only reason ballin has a problem with outs is he plays 100% man which is the worst defense to stop them.

Zone stops outs effectively enough most of the time. The wide side of the field it's a bit trickier. You have to manually cover that one. But zone almost never stops corners. So you gotta kinda guess which one they're throwing.

Every play is a guessing game and is based on tendencies, etc...
I have no problem with a person using either.
Legend unfortunately isn't all it is cooked up to be. People think it is better because of some things, but you need realize what must go into it. Why does Legend cover the routes better? It reads it. You have DBs running the routes AHEAD of the receiver most of the time and that is not realistic unless you've shown a pattern of throwing the same ball. It kinda takes away the thinking aspect of the game of figuring out what your opponent is going to do next because Legend will compensate for you/me.

i think it's quite obvious when someone is going to throw an out... but i don't pretend to be able to control the defenders well at all... that's why i put my two gold stars on defense. that's why when a receiver makes it obvious for three steps he's about to cut outside, the defender should see it. that's why when the ball is thrown right at the defender, he shouldn't bounce around to the inside of the receiver and give him the catch. the out routs in this game are a huge a.i. glitch/failure.

So what happens on the out and up?
Will that same defender that bit on that out still cover the up?
See... if the game ends up with cure all coverages then it will go down fast.
I don't mind the routes so much as I do the defenders reaction to some passes.
You get some generic LBs reacting and knocking down passes better than many star players.

well jackpot u gotta tell the WHOLE story...running the hot route slant out vs zone all game is frowned upon in the sim community. Can it be stopped?Yes,but its hard as heck to do it all game.I NEVER do either of these hot-routes and have a devastating offense. Both routes are glitchy to me when abused

"have found a play" to stop the corner? lol. it's called PLAY MAN! theres nothing cheesy about watching the field to see what is left open when you play zone. there's ALWAYS something open against zone. the cheese comes when you throw and OUT to someone who's double and tripple covered. do you believe this works in real life? no. if you throw a ball blatanly short, it's always interecepted!!!!

I also believe I have found it also. I need more testing, but from what I saw it did work.
