I looked around but didn't see anything about turning them off in online leagues. My friends and I are on our 3rd season in 2k8, (5th overall as we played 2 with 2k5), but there has always been a constant bicker as to accepting all penalties EXCEPT for late hits. It would make it SO much easier if I could turn them off. Am I missing the option or slider for that in online leagues or is it just on all the time?

Thanks

Just tell everyone in your league not to accept them. The refs blow the whistle way too early in the game and it causes the late hit flag to come out.

I know, we don't accept them but if I could turn off that specific penalty it would be awesome. Always a few fights a season about that. And the people in the league are brothers, in laws and friends. Just wish that could be eliminated.

The problem is that a late hit can lead to injury.
I realize it's too touchy and it's just one of many things you would think they would have tweaked by now.
Considering they are making us play this game for at least 2 years you would think they would at least support this one by fixing the mother ****ing focus bug and a toning down late hits and I would kill to have the awful kicking scrapped although that's just me.

They have to adjust the late hits in the next game. You can dive before the guy is down on the ground and still get a late hit. Its cost me quite a bit when the game first came out.

Some people have guys that are lunging at the ground after the play is dead the whole game, almost like they are trying for the late hit.

Amongst the tweaks needs to be something about the general lethargy of the defense. Unless you have momentum full-tilt in your favor, guys will just stand around, and then once the ball is caught, if you're like me, you find yourself doing a rapid "switch, tackle, switch, tackle, switch, tackle..." trying to make sure the guy gets brought down. It's like a popcorn effect, and I'll have 5, sometimes 6 defenders in the area, and not one of them made an effort to defend the play, but dang it, if one of them happens to be in the air when that whistle goes, free 15 yards. :\

Deal with that lethary, and the late hit penalties would be severely reduced. Also detecting whether a defender has already left his feet prior to the player being down would help.

Um you just tell people not to accept them.

I do tell them not to accept them, it is the the "accidental" acceptance in 4th quarter because of trying to skip the cracked out referee. Just wondering if there was a way to get rid of it all together. I guess not, just would alleviate some arguments. We argue like family, loud and beer filled!

Exactly!!!
The whistle blows while you are in the air.

i havent really had any problems since i first got the game. i usually let the first few late hit calls go by, but if my opponent keeps being reckless, ill start accepting them.

I think the late hits are a feature of the game and don't detract from gameplay at all. You guys need to learn how to use the RS more rather than charging and hitting X all the time. And yes, late hits can and do lead to injuries, and although I let a few go, if its a tight game I have every right to accept them.

We play our league with injuries off so that doesn't matter to us. Just wears me out is all, really wish that specific penalty could be turned off. Oh well, we are on our 3rd season so we have made it so far without any huge issues. I am sure we'll survive. 3rd annual KEGS AND EGGS DRAFT is coming in September.

The issue is not about learning to use a feature of the game.

The issue is the late hit needs to be fixed and there is no getting around that.
They are using just one status to determine a late hit and that makes no sense if a person steps back and realize just how easy that can lead to false penalties.

As for accepting the penalties, that is a players choice, and should not be expected or enforced on someone else unless it is a league rule.

Personally, I don't expect anyone to turn it down nor would I want them to because they would expect the same and it doesn't happen that often to warrant such actions.
