I loved topspin one and was thrilled when i saw 3 coming out. I love the new playing style and offline matches can be fun in exhibitions.
The problem i have is the lack of custom options and it really makes me never play the game now.
First off is the career mode. It is a nice improvement in some ways. I know i cant be #1 or i will lose my season(when i give in and start playing again that is) so i will strive to be #2 at best. Hopefully it allows you to play alot of years that way. Might want to at the least take that out in the next version.
However my big problem is the lack of games per set option. I can understand that it may be to promote a quicker match, but maybe we like the long matches. I do and would prefer it to be a tough fight, not the set is over if i just get one break, thats very unrealistic.
So why not give us the options? Is it really that hard to put in the game in a patch? Mainly why even leave it out in the first place.
Ok the next thing is the custom tournamet options. Like topspin 1 I can play at any venue and here i can set the number of sets and games per. Ok so instead of the custom season tour, I will just make my own and all is well.
But nope i cant because of 2 problems. My only choice is to play as one of the 19 created players. The other issue is unlike topsin 1(though it wasnt perfect) I cant edit my seeds with who I want in the tournament and where I want them. There certainly are enough fictional characters to fill a full grand slam 64 player tournament.
Why not give us that option? Why not allow us to add a few custom players also? I understand why u may limit how many we can create. Perhaps it is so we will have to pay for DLC. But the options to use what we can create should be available.
Like i said at the start I love the game for its realism and its the only tennis option I consider, but please give me options to make it as real as i want if i choose. Not sure why a next gen game has less options then the one on my PS2 from 5 years ago.
If these cant be implemented in a patch, i hope its strongly considered in the next version.
I know i wont buy it without them.
