For those wondering, if you don't want it to affect your offline franchises or don't want to deal with it at all, you are able to turn the Living Rosters feature off. Word.

So the roster updates and living rosters do affect your Association mode? How does that work?

Well it's nice to know just by having a Enable/Disable feature certainly would stop those from beginning a rant. Thanks for the info
On a side Note: Abput Thread Topic Derailment:
I can't believe on how some of you see a Ron post or thread, and suddenly you get all beserk with all different questions you have for him. Really sometimes you may want to stay on topic, build some type of credibilty with him and he actually might consider on pluggin you in. So as for now I can't blame him for turning his cheek on some of you, cause I would do the same since many of you completely miss the point of the thread meaning. (This msg is only directed to those that apply)

When Ron says offline franchises he probably means if you start a new one with the last updated portion of Living Rosters. Which to me makes the most sense when he states that.

Ron, how exactly does it affect an existing franchise by the way? I mean, do you just download the updates within your existing franchise? Can you elaborate?

^^It shows all the headlines and such. Even rumors like Kobe wants out. Stuff like that. And also some other stuff.

Thanks Dark. Having said that, those two questions were relevant. The latter question, it will if you leave it on because the players in your franchise will be hurt by struggling in real life. If you turn it off, no.
Once you start an online league, the roster is “locked in” for that league. The same goes for offline game modes as well. Continuing to update the rosters after a league has began would make no sense, particularly if the league started with a fantasy draft.

Heh, well in that case since my Associations dont relate to life then im turning it off.

Ok, Im a bit confused. So once I start an offline season or association, Living Rosters will not affect that offline season/association because the rosters are locked from the time I start the association, correct? Does the same go for updated animations and such?

Ok i think i am starting to understand this living roster feature. So when we start our Franchise the rosters are locked in but we will still receive the updated animations and every thing else. Am I right?

Yeah I think that sounds right i hope that the players animations will get the update regardless

You can turn it on and off before starting up a new franchise or online league. You just have to make the decision before setting it up. Those who want to use it can from the beginning, those who don't want to, don't have to.

Ok... well, thats a dream come true for me. I usually run season rather than association, and I would love to have current updates in my season. Thanks. Ron.

The purpose of LIVING roster is most valuable for ONLINE imo.

So wait, if you turn on the living rosters before you start an offline association, then it will update ratings/injuries/trades to correspond with real-life when it does the updates for exhibition/online games? Or do you just mean that if you turn the option on before you start the association, it takes a snapshot of where everyone was at that point, then the association continues as normal?
More explanation if possible please... It doesn't make much sense to me unless it's the latter, as the living rosters would sort of negate the improvements that you make to your team's players in the association...

short and simple
when ON
franchise or online league players stats increase or decrease and animation can get updated depending on real life cold/hot streaks
No roster changes will happen
When off
No effect to franchise or online league
only time rosters get effected is online and exhibtion game rosters or you load them before you start a francise or online league

First of all, thank you for your assistance Ron in clearing this up. I'm a big fan of the association mode. I prefer to play with updated rosters. So, if there is a 3 team blockbuster trade that takes place (ex: 30 games into a active offline franchise), it would be nice to have those updates apply without forfeiting my entire franchise currently in progress. Hopefully, there is a way to manually trade, release, sign, edit a player like you can in a active season. I think that is what they were trying to say.

Sure no prob, just trying to help out when I can, I only removed that Where's the Demo/Video thread derailing comment. I do feel that majority of all the post questions including Post #2 & #3 are/were meant for this topic and which by the way are all very good line of questioning. Plus I applaud you for answering them to the best of your ability. Bottomline is User options and choices is what everyone wants and by you providing this type of info it only shows that this is a step in the right direction.

i doubt they affect existing franchises. Im sure they probably work like all roster updates used to.
If you update your rosters then you have to start a new franchise to use the updated rosters in your Association

OK, a couple questions.
1. Will new updates effect offline franchises that are already in progress when the update occurs?
If so:
a) Will new updates effect offline franchises that are already in their second season?
b) Will new updates effect only player stats, or also player team (aka trades or free agent signings)?
Thanks

Hi Ron,
I have a question: is it possible to start an online league that will get the updates through the year? And, if yes, how can i do that? 'cause I started one and I wasn't able to found the option for turning on living roster.
Edit: we are a franchise league that was born in the 2003... so we have custom roster and we started with a fantadraft.
