I promised to dish out some of the features of the league, so here we go. This is just the beginning and might not sound exciting but we're still in the early stage of this league.

Media Center will be a section that can be accessed by going into the Forums. A link will be displayed on the main page for easier access. In here, you can read about what's going on in the league. Articles, interviews, highlights, and much more will be going on as the season gets underway. Members will be encouraged to participate in this (uploading highlights, writing recaps for your games, writing articles about your team, etc) to make this a fun feature.

This will be our Power Rankings. Only the top 5 teams deserve to be on the front page with a full analysis of how they got there. This will be a weekly rankings, so the more you play the better chance of being on the list.

We will be having the tryout games starting Monday. You will receive a Friend Request for the GT that you provided to me. We'll then play a Unranked game, with you choosing the team that you picked first. For those that picked more than one team, we'll have other games for the other teams as well. If you cannot participate in this event (last day is the 29th) you'll unfortunately be dropped.

Quarters: 6 Minutes
Games: Between 30-40 (we'll have an official announcement next week)
Playoff Format: TBD

Later next week I'll talk about what you can expect to see on the website, boards, etc. This upcoming weekend I'll only be able to register every applicant and their teams while answering questions about the league. Expect more updates from me at any give time.

What we'd like to accomplish with this league is organization. Meaning that every aspect of running a league goes smoothly without any major setbacks. Barring General Manager dropouts or inactivity, notifications will be sent out before a replacement is made. We're not looking for the best players or requiring someone to be a certain age in order to join, no, we're only asking for three things. Activity, maturity, and sim.

Too often have I seen a person sign up and play one or two games before loosing interest and hopping onto another league. This is a major flaw in online leagues, and the main reason why a handful only succeed. We're countering this by having replacements on the spot. Let's say the Atlanta Hawks GM goes AWOL after 4 games, and ignores his inbox. Well in this case we already have a person on the reserve that requested the same team, and is only a message away from becoming the new GM. This strategy worked before, and it reduces time in-between games played by that team.

Hate the little kid screaming into the mic after every call against him? So do I. Resolution? put your headset to sleep. I strongly urge everybody that experiences negative behavior in my leagues to notify me of such, and it will be acted out on accordingly. I'm a laid back kind of guy, and try to give everyone a second chance but please try and not to turn the league into a WWE shoutbox. This goes for not just micgames , but also how you conduct yourself on the message boards.

Our main key for starting this league is to advertise sim-style of playing this game. We'll be testing every applicant before the official sign up has been made, where I will be playing against you (Not Ranked - on NBA 2K8) to see how you perform with the team(s) you selected. I won't try and win the game, or shut down your team leader but I will look for specific things like ball movement, repeating cheese plays, player use, and much more. I'll give a grade to you after our game is done. Anyways, we're basically trying to get the attention of people that know how to "play the right way".

Now with that out of the way, here's how we'll be selecting our General Managers and their reserves. You select a team ball from the bottom, and I will contact you through Xbox Live for a scheduled tryout game. Again, you must have Xbox Live gold and NBA 2K8. The person earning the highest grade for that team selected will get the nod. The second highest will be the backup. You can try out for more than one team if you feel like the Houston Rockets will have more competition.

This is why we're screening everyone so early, so when the game comes out, the league already has it's 29 GMs and its reserves on place. 7 days will be given for game purchases and getting used to the new feel for NBA 2K9.

After you have selected the team ball(s) that you're interested to try out for (please rank team balls in order of importance) please include your Xbox Live Gamertag, e-mail, and/or AIM. Remember this is not first come first serve.

Almost forgot, we are very excited about the new layout for Online League websites that 2K has installed. Real 2K9 will be updated daily with tons of information, game highlights, and polls. The message board will be organized professionally so it's very easy to navigate. I want the boards to be active and have a good vibe to them, where GMs respect each other but still be competitive.

Right now, we're thinking about setting a cash prize for the winner. It's not going to be much (college students here) but there would be no entry fee. I will keep you guys that are interested updated here, so anything new that comes along you'll be the first to hear it. We will be recruiting people from many other boards, so the competition will be there.

The only teams that are taken are the Boston Celtics and Memphis Grizzlies, by me and my Co-Comish. When you select a team ball, you're only selecting which team you want to try out for. Nothing is official. For example, you picked the Detroit Pistons. Here's how it will go from then on.

1. I will send you a Friend Request on Xbox Live.
2. We will schedule a tryout game, where you will select the Pistons and I will select a random team. It will be a Unranked game, so don't worry about your stats.
3. I will give you a grade at the end of the game.
4. Grades will be posted up in a separate thread, so you will see how you match up against other people that selected the Pistons.
5. If you have a lower grade than another Piston-user, you can tryout for another team or if you have the 2nd highest grade you can settle with being the reserve GM.

Yeah, I hope a lot of the members write some sort of recaps after there games, In NBA 2K8 I was involved with quite a few leagues and used to not only write recaps but add a little personal touch in there with owner interviews on how they felt their team played against the competition.

Definitely. In my experience from sim leagues (FBB types) people used to write articles about their teams, the league, and partook in interviews. It keeps the league refreshing and something to look forward to other than playing your games. The message boards will be very interactive in that aspect. I'll introduce a 2K9 Media section where articles can be posted. I'll write a weekly recap of what's been going on in the league. I also encourage every member to write articles about their teams status and future outlook.

Yes, as a matter of fact on Tuesday night (11pm et) we'll be having Team Selection Night on our radio station.

Me and the Co-Comish (Joey31988) are talking about it everyday. We decided to produce a weekly radio show for you guys to listen to Live or to listen to it whenever you have time. We'll be talking about everything within the league, and would urge people to call in.

Outside of the radio station (www.blogtalkradio.com/real2k9), there will be a top 5 plays of the week highlight video. So make sure you upload your best plays once the season starts.

The scheduled start is still set for October 14th, hopefully everyone will buy the game and have a little experience with the new A.I, defense, etc. The league website will be available on launch day so you'll see it being updated daily from then on.

EDIT - Right now we're just working on the graphic design and I'll be holding tryouts tomorrow because XBL is down all day today.

If the first season goes as planned, yes there will be another one. I heard the seasons continue after each post-season so that might make things easier.
