Knicks
Curry 75 - 80 (-5) (LMAO. The biggest drop so far)
James 60 - 60 (0)
Lakers
Bynum 86 - 84/71 (+2/15) (Already improved in 2k8's all-star break update so not a true jump)
Mihm 72 - 72 (Missed most of the season. Surprisingly, did not jump 3-4 overall points)
Magic
Howard 93 - 95/91 (-2/+2) (This one is funny because 2k still isn't sure what they're doing here, and also has one very fatal flaw that I'll detail later)
Foyle - 71 - 69 (+2) (Well this was unexpected.)
Battie 66 - 66 (Yet another year where they didn't touch his ratings. He's had 50 close and 52 med since 2k3. That's gotta be a world record for laziness. I don't give a damn if he missed the whole year, that worked wonders for other players)
Mavericks
Dampier 76 - 71 (+5) (Bout time.)
Diop 73 - 71 (+2)
Nets
Lopez 74 - N/A (Somehow rated worse than his less talented brother)

Hibbert 72 - N/A

Rockets
Ming 94 - 92 (+2) (This one made me laugh a little)
Spurs
K. Thomas 80 - 76 (+4) (Four years too late.)
Oberto 74 - 73 (+1) (A PF switch)
Suns
O'Neal 84 - 87 (-3)
Lopez 75 - N/A (Yeah, a top 25 center. I can actually believe that over Theo Ratliff though)
Thunder
Petro 69 - 65 (+4) (Finally, the starter isn't the 4th worst on the team)
Sene 66 - 66 (0)
Swift 66 - 66 (0) (Here's a fun exercise - count all the Cs rated in the 60s and then count how many were actually edited)
T'Wolves
Booth 64 - 64 (Like I was saying. I think 2k has contractual obligations to not touch these guys ever)
Collins 62 - 68 (-6) (Haha someone who dropped more than Curry finally. Another ex-PF btw)
Warriors
Biedrins 81 - 80 (+1)
Wizards
Haywood 75 - 72 (+3)
Thomas 75 - 75 (0)
McGee 66 - N/A
Unfortunately because Magloire was a FA we don't know his ratings. He was a 78! in 2k8. Any guesses on his 2k9 rating?

It is quite clear and convincing that 2k has absolutely no clue what their own layup rating does if they gave Howard a higher rating than 90% of all guards. Tony Parker is an 89 layup this year, for those keeping track of such absurdity at home.

well the center position is the weakest aspect in NBA today. the game is getting faster and with the height and weight of center they are basically rebounders. its sad but its the truth

Yeah IMO he's right about Yao. He was playing at 94 level before he was injured IMO but he should be 91-92 after. He has to prove this coming season that he's a 94 calibur. And with the 2k insider it should happen alot sooner!

Brook has a higher rating than 14 of the 28 players drafted after him. 8 of them were in the 2nd round. This for a projected top 6 pick. I just don't get how the consensus top center of the draft was somehow not. Mixing up Brook and Robin is the equivalent of mixing up Beasley and Love.

He was in the FAs so I don't have his ratings.
He still hasn't signed and Houston has 15 guaranteed contracts.
He might make a cameo at mid-season like P.J. Brown did last year. Honestly they don't need him until Yao gets hurt, because he's only the 3rd string center with Yao healthy (Landry/Scola get most of the backup mins). They'd probably rather see how Joey Dorsey does in those minutes.
Only way i see them bringing him back is if they somehow rid themselves of Steve Francis (who is still rehabbing from injury).

PG/SG/SF somewhat (topics were deleted when Ron telling people the ratings were fake). I haven't looked at the PF ratings too intently yet to be honest but I'll get to it.
It should be noted there are still plenty of PF who should have been listed as C, led by Jermaine O'Neal and Emeka Okafor.

I'm cool with Andrew Bynum being where he is, becuase lets face it, he hasn't played in a long while... But once the season is underway, hopefully he'll earn an upgrade...
and I bet those guys who haven't been upgraded since 2k7 won't even be on the insiders radar lol...

Regarding Dwight's close, his percentage is due to his ridiculously high proportion of dunks. He is actually sub .500 on non-dunks down low.

Big Ben Wallace should have a higher block rating then everyone except Camby.

Man, I don't give a damn if he dunks the entire season. High percentage is a high percentage. Tell the players guardin him to stop him from gettin that down low in the paint. They ****ed over D-Howard. I was really expectin him to be the highest rated center this year and one of the top 5 players

What makes it so bad is they know Dwight benches 365...they don't take that into consideration though. I'll just fix that ratin myself, cuz I know he deserves a 99 in that department

Howard has a 99 dunk rating. The next closest center is 18 points worse.
He will be even easier to score with now than when he was a 94 close and 89 dunk.

Howard may be the league's top center, but he still has a ways to go before we can talk about him in the same sentence as David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Hakeem Olajuwon, or Shaquille O'Neal. That he is the league's top center at age 22 says more about the dearth of talent at the position than it does about him.
Shaq could score in the paint on more than just dunks. You might recall Detroit shutting Howard's limited repitoire down in the playoffs. On the other hand, triple teams didn't phase Shaq in his prime.
Howard has no face up game, a limited post game, is turnover prone, and doesn't set up his teammates. He gets by entirely on his superior strength and athleticism. He needs to expand his game in order to become a true elite talent.

You must have this game confused with NBA 2K5, when Ben Wallace was actually good enough to be on a game cover. He is an average player now and his shot blocking ability has declined mightily over the last three years.
Big Ben did not even average 2 blocks last year and is far removed from the days where he averaged 3+ (2002-2004)

When healthy, I'll take Yao over Dwight anytime.......
Yao dominates those head to head matchups as well........
Yao can be a much more dominant, efficient player.......He's got to get healthy though and play more than 60 games.....

Scoringwise, he is already taking most of the team's shots, I don't see how he's going to get many more without a substantial expansion of his game. I heard Howard say he is going to start taking more short jumpers, rather than dunks. That's not going to help his FG% or FTA for that matter (which means fewer pts).
This btw, is what a 25+ ppg center looks like.

Howard's a long ways away from that.
Reboundingwise, I don't see how that's going to happen.
Howard Rebound%
2005: 17.3 (10th in league)
2006: 20.9 (led league)
2007: 20.5 (3rd in league)
2008: 21.7 (led league)
He already had a jump in boards last year inwhich he led the league. He's more likely to stand pat or regress slightly than he is to improve on that. He could stand to improve on his offensive boarding but he probably cut back to avoid picking up fouls and to get back on defense. Doesn't hurt that he is playing with mostly 3pt shooters now, which create long rebounds that can fly out of his reach.
It's also worth noting that Howard only gets that many boards in the first place because Orlando doesn't have a PF. Ben Wallace averaged 15 boards because he played next to Cliff Robinson, the worst rebounding big in the league (and when Detroit picked up Sheed, BB's rebs went down to 12 or so). Rashard Lewis isn't as bad but he's close. Andris Biedrins and Chris Kaman have similar situations. When you're the only guy on your team who can grab a board, your average goes up. Just look at Jason Kidd with the Nets leading the Nets with 8 boards the last two years and when he goes to the Mavericks he averages only 6.

I wouldnt even dare to compare him to ''The Dream'' - the most talented offensive Center of all time (hes Nr.1 in carreer blocks as well) . If Dwight will ever be as good as D. Robinson - that would be his biggest achievement (i doubt that though) .
