The major problem i have with this game is the slow shots that can be blocked easily and it appears 1.2 seconds is not enough to get a shot off in some situations. Quick pull up shots off the dribble are also something i want to see. It takes too long to get set up for a shot. These are the only things that i hate about this game. I love the rest!!

Fade-away is the answer.

this is one aspect i do agree about next gen 2k and this is from 2k7 to 2k9.

with the introduction of sig shots, they had to get rid of those jumpers that was quick in the old 2k games. but i would rather have the sig shots then 1.2 seconds on the clock now maybe 2k would eventually figured out how to mesh both together but im cool with how it is now

Id rather have an off balance shot or something instead of having the ball in my hands when the buzzer goes off!! A faster version of the shot just for the clutch moment is all im asking for. I dont want fast shots throughout the whole game. Pull up shots off the dribble will be great also.

Have to agree with you here man I've gotten blocked a few times already on wide open shots with of all people Ray Allen one of the guys with the quickest releases because of the long delay between the time you press the button and when the guy releases the ball. I hope this is a problem which can be fixed through a patch.

The problem i see is not just the shot. The shot isnt that bad, its the leading up to the shot part. Here is what im talking about lets say your dribbling around and you want to stop and shoot because your open. Now you stop, have to set up and then shoot which all takes too much time. The setting up for the shot reeally slows it down.

steve francis is the answer. super fast release...u can pull up on a dime and knock down a jumper. i always go to him in clutch (less than 1 second on the clock) even from a full court pass i could get it to him about 3 feet from 3 and he would nail it almost every time. (that was 2k8 tho).

honestly ray ray in real life doesnt really shoot off the dribble. usually when ray ray dribble he either gone attempt a lay-up/dunk or he gone pass. thats not really ray ray game, he comes off screen and gets his shot off which i think 2k9 nailed big time but if ray ray shoots on the dribble is because he has no choice but to(shot clock winding down or somethin). or when standing still he gone get that little separation that doing some triple moves and rise also

Yeah there should be. If there is only 1 possible way to make the shot when times low on clock like .4 left they should make players chuck it up. Faster release players like marion should have a good chance.

dont forget team that have lethal shoters also have quick release transitions shots ray allen is relly good at this but in 2k his realese is to slow

For example i was using kobe and i pump faked my brother. The shot is so slow that the defender had time to land and jump back up to block my shot. For the people that havnt played a human player might have not noticed how bad it is but its bad.

fastest one i got was .7 left on the clock..

we should be able to do alleyoops from the sideline!

Who did you use to get the shot off? You see i dont want only certain player to get these shots off i think everyone should be able to get a shot off. Always better shooting(no matter how bad the shot) the ball than having in your hands after the buzzer.

Although i have never done it. I heard people saying that they pulled off alleyoops from the sidelines. So im guessing that one is in the game.

has anyone noticed that you cant shoot right after you do a jabstep? I will jabstep and see my defender hop back and try to shoot (tried using X and the shot stick) and by the time i even start the shoot motion my defender is back in my face. This ruins the realism for people who play with guys like Melo, Ai, Kobe, Lebron.. they as well as many other superstars use the jab step to setup their jumper.

Yeah, this has definitely been an issue with some players sig shots since they started doing them. Unfortunately, the best way to fix it is to mo-cap a 'set shot' animation and a (or a few) 'jump shot' animation that flows better for off the dribble purposes and takes into account momentum and such. If they speed up the shot animation (or just the 'gather' portion of it), it might look a little too abrupt, but as is now, some shots make it very difficult to get off pull up jumpers, and they don't transition well.

I have been able to pull off a shot animation with Kobe a few times that was a smoother transition and allowed him to fade in the direction of his momentum, but it is inconsistent on when he will actually attempt it. There seems to be a 'shoot on the move' animation in the game, but it seems to be the same to every player (much like how the fadeaway looks the same as well). I can live with the issue, and forgive it, because the slew of new animations with the dribble, steal attempts and lay-ins around the basket have been drastically improved.

It will be interesting to see if this 2k insider can fix these issues...

To me its more important to fix the quick shot off the dribble than to make quick shots during clutch because clutch wont come in as often as shooting off the dribble. I mean pulling a quick jumper off the dibble is what makes kobe a leathal weapon. Same with jordan

we also need the super quick last milli seconds shot just like L.A Lakers Fisher against San Antonio.

Yeah I agree on this. In last year's game the jabstep -> jumper was a nice weapon. It's pretty much non existent in this game as pull ups for jumpers are so slow.

Taking jumpers in this game feels like shooting in quicksand, it's highly annoying to see a shot that should be wide open get blocked. It's funny how they actually fixed it so that guys can't zoom around the court on defense, but now shots are so ****ing slow that it ends up being the same as last year.

Imagine how slow it is that the defender gets pump faked and has time to land and jump back up to block the shot

I have to totally disagree with you, and i've been watchin ray since UCONN days... that guy has one of the best off the dribble shots in the game... he definitely can pull up at times, and its one of the most beautiful things in the nba today. one of the best examples of thi is in the seattle game two or three years ago when he broke the record for three in a season, while still on seattle.. you should be able to youtube it... or even the celtic game in the playoffs he makes a couple huge threes and shots to break out of his slump.. you should be able to yout tube it

This is easily my biggest problem with the game the slow shots TOTALLY ruin the online experience(PS3)...
It might not be as bad if the offline timing matched the offline...Or the length needed to take a jumpshot. I don`t even mind the extra tough freethrows but when you run a play to get your player that open look only to have the shot swatted or pooched because the timing on the shot is seemingly random online, it really takes the fun out of the game....more then that it takes a good chunk of the "basketball" out of the basketball game. Part of my style is jumpshooting and it just doesn`t translate AT ALL online. ..Sucks too I was really looking forward to getting into online play this year...

I tried to find other threads on the shooting issues online and if they will be addressed, but this is all I found....
