I disagree..not all people who use 2k cam cheese. i use 2k and most the sim guys i play use 2k. It gives you a better perspective of spacing and is a more realistic(as the player) than a tv broadcast. Yes the game is good to watch in broadcast if you wanna show it off, but to play the game 2k view is needed.

It would be like madden forcing you to use the TECMO BOWL cam instead of madden cam.

I tried to test the 2k cam that many love and when the camera rotates or you are going up court there is a huge framerate drop that hurts the eyes

it stops when you set the offense on the other end but is there when the camera spins and players run up the court...

this is on both consoles.....i heard that they left this out of online play and i can see why

I believe there was a video of a guy playing online in a ranked game showing that 2k cam is available. However if it causes lag online it will not be used by anyone. I remember on mlb 2k7, there were a couple stadiums that would cause lag if you used behind pitcher cam to pitch. But other stadiums it would be fine. It was odd. I just dont get how the testees dont catch some of these things. if it lags, they should be able to find what is causing it and make the adjustments. I almost wish theyd put out a sports game every two years and just have roster updates to fill the void and have patches. That way every two years, we should have a greatly improved game.

I'll miss the 2k cam, because even before that when I use to play live I used the same camera angle. Playing the demo though I got use to the side view. The game was designed pretty well to be played at this angle. So you guys are just going to have to get use to it.

Besides ranked games will all have to be played how a real NBA game is viewed. Kind of a cool change. I'm glad I can do a custom match with 2k came though.

It's the crowd that causes the terrible framerate. 2k upgraded the crowd this year, if you notice during cutscenes as well, anytime the crowd is shown in full, the framerate drops drastically. id suggest changing the height on the cam angles try to look downwards more like 2k8, should help a bit :o

Yeah the framerate issue seems to be just after a change of possesion after a rebound or a steal on the other end of the court, after you cross the halfcourt line it usually gets super smooth. Makes me wonder if they slowed that down purposely to limit people from trying to constantly get steals up court. Took a lil time to get used to but I barely notice it now. Only thing is is with such a great game that was released this year it just sucks that the game is getting bogged down by framerate issues. I say hopefully vc releases a patch to fix it. But nonetheless the game is definately great

Same here. I been playing since the original 2k as well and 2k view is the ORIGINAL view so anybody crying about cheese over a camera view dont know what they are talking about. A good alternate to 2k view is high however and change zoom and height.

Anyways, just thought I would bring this up since they have basically ruined online since they made the jump to 360.

it all started with 2k6, the xbox version had great online ranking and it was a great game, the intro to the shot stick. Then they jumpd to 360 and upped the graphics and made online rankings garbage where it doesnt matter who you beat, just how much you play and how many scrubby players you beat...

Then 2k7 Kept that trend alive and the following year in 2k8 they add all these new features and for half the year you couldn't even use them online, only offline (talking about off the ball controls.) Never fixed the rankings for skilled gamers, kept catering to the 12 year old with no life who ducks all the skilled ballers out there. (BTW I WAS #1 2k6 with TEZ) Then they upgrade 2k8 with a patch, add off the ball controls but then they choose to NOT allow you to go OFF THE BALL with other players, that is still strictly an offline feature, not online. So that basically cuts off my balls in 2k8 online because I unlike the online scrubs who just play all day and not learn anything choose to learn the entire game and break it down, and off the ball controls is a huge part in the offline game, therefore the online game was just a cheap stripped down version of last years game.

Now 2k9, still haven't played online but from what I can see 2k cam is gone! Ridiculous for online, Offline it's still there but I mean lets be honest, 2k Cam is the original. as for the lobbies, i thought the ranking system for the last 2 years was flawed and allowed cheesers n ppl with no life to fly to the top based on the number of games played instead of real skill, i have no problem with no lobbies as long as theyre matching up players based on skill instead of a rank that rises based on the number of games played, you know

I've been going back on forth on whether I'm going to get this or not, but it's sealed right now. I have no idea how a company like 2k would slack on one of the most important parts of the game.

I'm not getting this until they fix the online portion of the game. I'll be checking online to see if/when that happens then I might get it.

I'm so disappointed right now. It doesn't make sense to take steps forwards in some areas yet backwards in others, especially a major part of the game such as the online experience.

Same here. I been playing since the original 2k as well and 2k view is the ORIGINAL view so anybody crying about cheese over a camera view dont know what they are talking about. A good alternate to 2k view is high however and change zoom and height.

Anyways, just thought I would bring this up since they have basically ruined online since they made the jump to 360.

it all started with 2k6, the xbox version had great online ranking and it was a great game, the intro to the shot stick. Then they jumpd to 360 and upped the graphics and made online rankings garbage where it doesnt matter who you beat, just how much you play and how many scrubby players you beat...

Then 2k7 Kept that trend alive and the following year in 2k8 they add all these new features and for half the year you couldn't even use them online, only offline (talking about off the ball controls.) Never fixed the rankings for skilled gamers, kept catering to the 12 year old with no life who ducks all the skilled ballers out there. (BTW I WAS #1 2k6 with TEZ) Then they upgrade 2k8 with a patch, add off the ball controls but then they choose to NOT allow you to go OFF THE BALL with other players, that is still strictly an offline feature, not online. So that basically cuts off my balls in 2k8 online because I unlike the online scrubs who just play all day and not learn anything choose to learn the entire game and break it down, and off the ball controls is a huge part in the offline game, therefore the online game was just a cheap stripped down version of last years game.

Now 2k9, still haven't played online but from what I can see 2k cam is gone! Ridiculous for online, Offline it's still there but I mean lets be honest, 2k Cam is the original. Why would they have changed that camera view? Live went to the 2k cam and 2k went to the stupid broadcast/live cam all in the same year. That didn't make any sense.Hopefully the online part of this game is not stripped down gameplay wise because if I have to go anyother year with having to rely on the cpu to make cuts and **** online then I'll stick to ofline like I did last year.

With no 2kcam for online with NBA2k9, it went from being a must buy to me to only a rental now, I dont care if lobbies are in or not because to many just want to spam in lobbies asking for peeps to join leagues rather then play any games > maybe if you put the lobbies back in let people report spamming?

For me, 2K is hands down the best view. I'm not watching basketball on TV, I'm playing it on a video game....and when playing on a video game or real basketball, I think left/right when changing direction on a defender, not up/down. That was last decade.

On defense, I have to see the whole floor, especially against a cheeser. First rule in defensive transition is to control the ball. I NEVER full court press, but I always pick up 3/4 court. When playing on cams like Broadcast many players fall out of view after you score, leaving me one step behind in picking up the ball. If I pick the ball up and 'he' attempts a long pass I have time to switch to that player because I can see the whole floor---while the ball is in the air I can place my player in the right position to defend the basket. ect. faqn ect.

...and why do, cheesers (as well as most players) use the cam? Because its the best for playing this game. If you are playing against a cheeser and you are using the broadcast view you already are at an disadvantage. He is seeing more of the court than you are. If you switch off, say controling the power forward off cam, you may be placing the defender out of position, without even knowing it until it's too late. Everything that someone does cheesing on 2K view can be done on other views.

...Not a cheeser, but expect to get whatever you give playing against me. Feedback is 81%. There are/were lobbies, leagues, friends list to keep track of those who play the game how you want them to play it. I like the challenge of playing different people with different styles at times. The more frustrating they are prolly is just better the challenge.

Yes. I spent the better part of yesterday practicing plays so I could jump into online play ready for action. The problem is, I used 2k cam to practice with....Then I played some random person with a bad ping to me and the lag was so bad, none of us could hit freethrows. We ended up intentinally fouling each other for 2 whole quarters till most of our teams fouled out. So I guess practice mode is useless. BRING BACK 2k CAM AND LOBBIES

I agree with you. I still don't know how a company I always trusted like 2k sports could have released such a buggy product.

Hopefully they patch all of this up before the regular season starts at least. But I think there is too much crap for them to fix until next year. (by then I might be buying an easports product if its any good)
