View Full Version : The 2K Insider DELETED Gabe Pruitt

So I'm going through everything. It's all more organized than the previous year with a lot more to edit.
One thing I noticed is that Devin Harris only has a 1 year contract when in reality he is signed for five years.
2k likely got their salary information from hoopshype.
http://hoopshype.com/salaries/new_jersey.htm
As you can see there are no $0 values, it's left blank. The exact terms of Harris' contract were not announced, but he is def signed for 5 years.
Harris signed for 5 years and "approximately 42 million."
One immediately annoying thing is it takes forever to change a contract value. Harris is signed at 7.80 million but if you edit year 2 you have to start from the minimum salary and scroll right. 5.31M, 5.32M, 5.33M etc, it takes a long time to get to 8 million, and then to do it 3 more times? Can't we just input type the value from a keyboard?
I just whipped out my stop watch. It took 25 seconds to get from 442K to 8.0M Giving someone a 12 million dollar 5 year contract would literally take 5 minutes. That's simply unacceptable.
Anyway, major gripe about that aside, here's how we calculate Harris' contract without knowing the exact terms. Most contracts in the NBA have a 10.5% salary escalation from year to year. Harris is making 7.80 this year. So we multiply that by 10.5% and we get 8.19. Etc.
Devin Harris salary
Y1: 7.80
Y2: 8.19
Y3: 8.59
Y4: 9.02
Y5: 9.48
Tot: 43.08
Close enough am I right? If his exact details are ever released it's easily changed from there.
More to come as I dig deeper.

I literally screamed GET THE **** OUTTA HERE!
Jamaal Magloire is Miami's starting center getting 28 minutes per game (to Mark Blount's zero) and is still a 78 overall (to Blount's 71) despite three straight years of sucking.
He's a center at the end of the bench, barely rotation caliber, and CERTAINLY not starting caliber.
The Insider even makes a note in his "blog" about Magloire when he put him on the Heat. But he couldn't find the time to edit him? Wow.

When Sam Cassell signed, the Celtics roster grew to 16 players, one over the max.
So instead of removing Darius Miles, the player with the non-guaranteed contract coming off medical retirement, he removed Pruitt. Fair enough, Pruitt is the least talented guard on the team and most fans would rather use Miles.
It would have been one thing if Pruitt were released into the FA pool, where we could re-add him if desired.
Instead, HE REMOVED HIM FROM THE GAME ENTIRELY!
SMASHING JOB INSIDER SIMPLY SMASHING
If these are the types of changes that are going to be made I have no choice but to issue a warning to anyone thinking of using the "Living" Rosters.

The 2K Insider also deleted recently retired Jason Williams.
Corliss Williamson retired OVER A YEAR AGO yet he's still in the game, as are a countless list of other players who haven't played in the NBA in over a year.
Kelvin Cato, Ha Seung Jin, Michael Olowokandi, Vitaly Potapenko, Alan Henderson, Bo Outlaw, Scott Padgett, Eric Williams, David Wesley, Vassilis Spanoulis, Junior Harrington, AND THATS MAYBE HALF OF THEM
Who needs Gabe Pruitt when we've got the retired Darrick Martin?

he has a right to complain... Rashidi is better than the 2K insider. The insider does not know as much about the NBA as him, nor is he as thorough, and Rashidi does this for free while Insider gets paid

I could have a roster with all my edits by say, 7PM EST. That's without creating anybody though, which I'd like to do before an upload.
I also cant submit an update with Jamaal Magloire at 78 in good conscience. Unlike other Insiders around here.

Let me make this clear.
The 2K Insider deleted a player who is ACTUALLY IN THE NBA.
If there weren't ENOUGH players missing as it is, there is now one more.
Right here on the back of my box it says
Living Rosters - You'll never be late on a trade again. Constant updates from the NBA 2K Insider guarantee you're playing with the most current roster and the hottest starters.
Looks like that's a bald faced lie if they're deleting players on the active roster (as well as missing 50 players).
Does anyone here know of any business attorneys?
I'd sure like to speak to one about "False Advertisement".

The season hasnt started. If pruit is out of game when season starts then i am right there with u. I just wish u let your rosters do the talking. U spend more time talking about the real 2k insider then u do talking basketball. In all essence ratings are a matter of opinion. U think brevin knight is better then fisher and i dont. No amount of stats can change anyones mind. If what u did was science then it would be different. But its not. I mean u mess with someone that cant defend himself or he will get in trouble by his superiors i am sure. Thats not cool. and stats arent everything man. U should know that.

I find it funny he didn't get around to the TEN players who retired LAST YEAR.
If they are still in the game, why shouldn't J-Will be after a week?

Has anybody tried releasing somebody from the Celtics and checking to see if Pruitt shows up?
BTW, anybody why he's on "vacation"? That would be pathetic if they just suspended him for making this thread.

These are some intelligent comments!
I mean u mess with someone that cant defend himself or he will get in trouble by his superiors i am sure. Thats not cool. and stats arent everything man. U should know that.
Firstly, let's start with the fact this game is a sport simulation. The first and foremost job is realism. The amounting number of forgotten (or otherwise) players this year is abysmal.
IT IS all about statistics. The game runs on these statistics (and tendencies) to say who plays like what. If I happen to play against Yao Ming, and he keeps pulling up (based on tendencies) threes - we can say that the tendencies are incorrect, therefore unrealistic; it betrays the 'simulation' definition itself.
Of course, those who will undoubtedly tell me that the above 'Ming statement is wrong (yes, I happen to know it has happened); IT WAS AN EXAMPLE!
You could say that 'we' are just being pedantic. I play Basketball (specifically NBA) games because I love the NBA itself. Why should I have to settle for players with incorrect statistics (or no player at all) when there are people who want the game to be spot on.
It's especially worrying considering they've hired a goon to do the job (poorly thus far) that others would do willingly.
Finally, moving back to Sars3Shot. The game has been released pre-season (NBA), yet the game has the association mode. Do I wait until this 'insider' gets around to his job?
Should I start my association knowing my rosters will not be updated and that I will have to start a new association whenever the update is available?
Postscript: If you hadn't worked it out, I shouldn't have to weeks to play the game with and how the players I want to.

LOL at the contributor who thinks I am Rashidi. I created an account on here actually to follow up on Insider and Rashidi's edits and to provide feedback...
some of you may know me for my 2K sliders work at Operation Sports.
I guess I'll be spending my time there...
to 2K ... bring back Rashidi, because he added an element to this game that even the company can not match... embrace him, don't push him away ...
Now, i may post my sliders on this forum too this year ... so that I can get feedback from 2 sides...
I will buy the game this evening when I get off work ... happy gaming!

It's cool Rashidi makes good rosters and all, but he is probably one of the most annoying people of all the forums. I've never seen a post he's written that didn't involve complaining about the 2K Insider...

You guys are absolutely ridiculous. The game came out YESTERDAY! You're already bashing the Insider when the game has barely been out 24 hours. If you guys have such a problem with the Insider, after just one day, go to Live and pay 19.99 for NBA 365. I'd rather have 2K's free service. Give it some time, it's the preseason.

Actually, you do get an unlock code when you buy the game new, so Live's service is free at that point. HOwever, if you buy a used copy, the Synergy service is only 800 points, which equals $10.
