Why is 2k's OTP better than Lives?

I am trying to decide between the games and will spend most of my time in this mode. Why is 2k's OTP mode better than Lives?

They're pretty much the same, as it is the same concept. But 2K9 is just so much more fluid and realistic (no missed layups like in Live) that it delivers the better gameplay experience.
