im on allstar mode yea the only reason i have it on allstar mode cuz the comp. doesnt miss on superstar or hof mode.....but its still competitive im 5-6 with my clips but a lot of those games were lost by a few and ive been playin some tough teams like tha lakers, spurs, jazz

Hall of fame(no changed sliders...yet) I'm 1-5 all my loses have been under 8 points its tough your A.I. teammates definitely let you down every now and then you have to be quick to switch to a big man and you really do have to double team star players specifically the big men.

THe one thing I dont like seeing his some big men using isomotion like nothing to get to the hoop and you really do have to box out to get a rebound I really like the fact that I have to strategize on offense as to how I will score cause I cant do the same thing every time

I haven't started a franchise yet, but I played a few games on pro after I got off from work yesterday and I won 2 and lost 2. I didn't really play last years version too much, so you can say I'm rusty and I'm not ready to get smashed playing on the harder levels yet.

What difficulty levels do you guys play on?

When I got NBA 2k7, I set it on Superstar setting thinking I could dominate the game like I do with most sports titles like Madden and etc. I basically got run out of the gym. So I lowered it to All star. I remained SOMEWHAT competitive, but had to give it my all just to beat the crappy teams.

This is where my ego kicks in. I completely REFUSED to go down to pro level. To me, it's kind of embarrassing, which I know is dumb because no one else knows but me what difficulty I'm playing on. So I played on All star for a while, getting killed until finally I got fed up with it and went back down to Pro, WITH sliders also too mind you haha. I guess my forte isn't basketball games but I love them

As of right now on NBA 2k9, the trend as already started. I started on Superstar, and I just got handled. I just moved down to All Star and FINALLY won a game (against the lowly Kings) I don't know if this makes a difference, but I play as the Bulls. It's hard to score with them because they are SO perimeter oriented. If your jump shot isn't falling, it's gonna be a long game. I'm trying really hard to keep it at a minimum All Star level, and also not use sliders.

Anyone else experience this "ego" dilemma? Also I'm curious to know what difficulty level everyone plays on and if they have had similar experiences to mine. Thanks!

PLEASE also answer how many MINUTES PER QUARTER you play - I am always curious about this.

I am doing All Star for 6 minutes, but I am thinking of going with 8 mins instead.

I used to have an ego problem as well. Wouldn't play anything less than HoF.

But then I realised I was getting ****ed at the way the computer would just straight cheat on higher levels on previous 2K games. They wouldn't play better ball, just straight cheat. I turned down the level just for my own health lol.

I can still get a very competitive game at lower levels with slider tweaks. I lose a ton, I win a few, but it's much more fun for me. I play on all-star and bump it up to superstar when I make the playoffs in my association.

this is my first time playing a 2K game (nope, i'm no Live fanboy, MGS4 and other games just kept me preoccupied for the past couple of years). I'm on Superstar level and it's really hard ofr me cause i'm still getting used to the controls. so far, i've only been playing exhibition games to get my feel for the game. so far so good. i've won a couple of times. but the graphics. errrr...

i prefer to think of it as the computer getting theirs in now, while we're still new to the game. i play on the HOF difficulty level and i get mine handed to me on a silver platter by the crappiest teams...but that's how it's always been in the beginning. after a while, you get familiar with the system, the style and the control. you master the moves and get each player's rhythms down, and next thing you know, you're owning teams and have an association record that would rival the 90's bulls teams. it just takes practice. i'm still getting owned by teams like the heat, and i'm using the rockets! i mean, i could cheese with yao and tracy, but i honestly prefer to play the computer strait up as a simulation purist.

i remember being as frustrated way back when 2k6 came out. the hawks were owning my fantasy bulls squad...then i figured out the nuances and how the computer played and it's been love since then. keep at it, bro.

Yeah so I just bumped it down to Pro level. Maybe it's just I suck at this game, but I think it's more realistic in terms of the AI actually missing shots. That was my main problem when I tried playing on All Star, the AI simply wouldn't miss. I don't mind guys that are supposed to be draining 3's (Turkolgu, Baron Davis, and etc) But having the likes of Sebastian Telfair, Al Thorton making shot after shot really annoys me. The reason why they were somewhat open is because I really had to double down low because the post game is reallly hard to stop.

It really seems like this game is amped up a little bit more at each level. HOF users gonna have to play at Superstar. And some All Star players gonna have to play Pro Level.

I don't have an ego problem. I'm playing quick games (5 min qtrs) on ROOKIE level until I get the hang of this game and what my players are capable of doing. I usually like to start at the bottom and work my way up. I hate loosing though (which is why I ain't ashamed to be on ROOKIE level) so maybe I do have a problem there.

Playing on All Star here. I used to own the AI in 2K8 with HOF but forget about it in 2K9. Played the Jazz in the first game with HOF and got blown out in no time. Offense for me is not the problem in the HOF and SuperStar levels, it's defending. I can barely lock down the paint in this game. It's layups and alley opps all game. Talk about a challenge.

if that was online you'd call it cheese, it's not a challenge, just a pain in the ***. I have Foyle throwing down alley oops on Shaq and Joe Smith putting not missing a shot with Duncan right in his face.

I go down the other way and Duncan keeps getting blocked.

I been playing on HOF and yes I've only won one game thus far. Last couple were pretty close and actually I should of just beat the Pistons cuz I had a nice lead, but I fudged it up with with my offense going to hell in the 3rd, and I couldn't make big enough come abck in the 4th. So I seem to be getting better and perhaps kinda use to playing on HOF so I think I'mma continue...

Really though I've played a couple games on All-Star and Superstar and they seem just as difficult as HOF...

I been a playing 2k since 2k6 and I have always been good enough to stick with the competition on HoF, but on 2k9 its not the same. I started on All Star, and its very frustrating just getting drilled and them never missing a shot, and they will knock 3's down over air tight D. Im with Farrari, I had to bump it back down to Pro for awhile until I can get a grip of this AI, because regaurdless of which team you play, they will rain threes from everywhere on the court and skunk you by 30 before you even get warmed up. Let me master PRo then I will gradually get to HoF this year. No ego, just the way it is.

HOF but its ridiculous i havent changed the sliders except for stamina but its ridiculous they never miss im 3 and 1 actually 2 but i quit after one i was so ****ed seriously if you can **** HOF then you must be a bad *** because even the damn grizzlies and thunder own my *** with my Rockets. I think the cpu just has perfect rlease on everything but they do throw up so many alley oops its ridiculous i threw 1 so far and it got intercepted. anyone got any tips to stopping the cpu on HOF cuz im beat im barely winning.

People who say that this game is very difficult in Hall of Fame found last gen games (NBA 2K for PS2) to be difficult too in Hall of Fame? Because i can totally murder the cpu best teams with the weakest teams without much problem (for example i play vs the Superstar team a lot with teams like the knicks and i always win) since NBA 2K6 for the PS2, but this year i will buy the PC version wich is a 360 port (FINALY :D) so my question is: is the new gen games really much more difficult so at last the cpu will be able to give me a challenge?

I recently got a ps3 ( coming from a ps2) and got this game last week. I thought I would put it on HOF lose at first and then domitnate, but a week later and I am still losing by about 30 points. No improvements have been made in my game so I will humbly take it down to all star for encouragement plus learning the new controls on a ps3 maybe another reason for the beating I am getting.

Hall of Fame.

My loss was against the suns,Nash killed me with 42 points and 8-9 3pt

the others games has been close games, by 2-3 points max, havent played Spurs, Boston or Lakers yet.

I use All-Star with adjusted sliders. The CPU gets back too quickly so that you can't fast break and that was getting on my nerves so I adjusted the sliders. I can win on All-Star with adjusted sliders but there aren't many blowouts. I got killed by Nash for 47 points while playing the Suns on All-Star against my Pistons. Man, I could not stop him. I tried every defense available but he was on fire. LOL! I hate when the CPU gets hot and your team can't hit WIDE open shots. How anyone plays above All-Star is beyond me. Do you guys leave the sliders alone while playing on HOF? If I adjusted the sliders to the users favor I could play on HOF, but I won't even try. I will get killed. I like the game though. It has frozen on me a few times but I think it's better in gameplay than 2K8. I don't get all the fuss.

i play on all-star, the game is too ridiculous for me to go any higher

but sometimes when i am loosing i drop it down to pro(in certain scenarios) just to catch back up and then change it back to all star...

its annoying when you are down by 2 in the 4th and you post up ginobili with gasol and you get block... and then an alley-oop the other way... and then you throw a pass you normally throw in the game and suddenly they decide to do a bounce pass into someones leg and its a turn over... AHHHH... but if its a legit game i usually leave it, without my counter to the cpu cheating i say i'm about .500 on all-star

Hall of fame and I run with the Atlanta Hawks. The only team I really have trouble with is the Rockets
