ok nba insider

The half circle in the nba under the basket is what is known as the "no charge zone"
its where karl malone catches the ball after jordan makes the shot..

in the nba if you attempt to take a charge in that half circle.. no matter how aggressive or out of control the move is ... if even a quarter of an inch of your foot is on that line and the referee see's it .... its a blocking foul...

in the game i have had numerous instances where im making a move down the base line and the computer will take a charge inside of the "no charge zone"

its a subtle thing to notice but it makes a big difference...

def needs to get checked out.... its almost like the lay up glitch last year... how you would shoot only jump shots instead of layups when directly under the basket

Actually.....

"If you catch the ball deep in the paint -- deeper than the deepest part of the circle around the free throw line -- then that whole "restricted area around the hoop" rule does not apply. Defenders can draw charges as deep as they want on a play like that."

so your saying....

if shaq is posting up in "the no charge zone"

and someone takes a charge in "the no charge zone"

it can be called a charge?

Yup.

"An offensive foul should never be called if the contact is with a secondary defensive player who has established a defensive position within a designated "restricted area" near the basket for the purpose of drawing an offensive foul.

The "restricted area" for this purpose is the area bounded by an arc with a 4-foot radius measured from the middle of the basket.

EXCEPTION: Any player may be legally positioned within the "restricted area" if the offensive player receives the ball within the Lower Defensive Box."

http://www.nba.com/analysis/rules_c.html?nav=ArticleList

The lower defensive box is defined as the area between the 3-foot posted-up marks on the lane, the bottom tip of the circle and the end line. So, if your man catches a pass in the post, you can establish position in the restricted area and draw a charge.

Also, something like this is not a thing that the 2K Insider could change or fix, since it has nothing to do with players and their stats.
