I have a strange problem, if I'm in the main menu or about to choose a team in the quick game mode the game is in a heavy slow-motion. It reacts about 5-10 seconds after my commands. If i start a game (which takes about 3-5 minutes^^) the games runs smooth, it's also smooth if I switch to the screen-settings menu...
Durig the slowdowns the CPU load is not higher than 10-20%
Anyone who can help?
Hardware:
AMD Opteron 148 S939 @ 3.0 GHz
DFI Ultra-D
1GB Ram
X1900XT
XBOX 360 Pad
SOLUTION:
Got this confirmed by several people...
If you have an USB-Keyboard try to unplug it and restart the game.
Menu should now be displayed in normal speed!
Wasn't able to test it myself yet.

On the gamepad selection screen (where i choose my team) and in the controller setup the game runs in slow motion. Im using the microsoft wireless 360 gamepad so this is official pc hardware. During a match the game runs perfect. Do we need a patch to solve this problem?
With best regards

Euro.
I installed new drivers for my logitech keyboard and mouse, uninstalled logitech profiler, plug off usb tv-tuner, updated directx and display drivers, closed all unnecessary programs while playing -> no success whatsoever.
I tought it would be something to do with my mouse and keyboard when it's only slow on controller setup and team selection but no. Does anyone have any idea what could cause this?

Same problem. The game runs slower then molasses on Prozac going uphill in January whenever I'm on the team select screen, the controller configuration screen and the in-game team choosing screen. Once I get off of those menus and into any other menu, or into a game, the game plays fine. It's very irritating. Someone have the answer, please! I've turned everything off and on, and the problem persists. Help!

Same here. Team selection, control change run at 4FPS. Everything else is fine with vsync turned off. I noticed the team selection was fine until it started loading some of my saves.

I had, but when I took it off -> no help.
I just noticed that in team selection screen my harddrive starts to do lot of work and if I look at resource monitor windows is reading pagefile.sys like hell. When I go any other screen it stops, and again, when back in team selection the reading starts all over again.

Same problem with Menu here as well. Seems to be a problem with accessing the gamepad. The game runs perfectly at very high settings @ 1680X1050. I have a logitech rumblepad 2 usb. Turning off Vsync did not fix the slow menu problem.

Thanks, that solved it
Though it sucks that I have to click nba 2k9 to run and then unplug mouse and keyboard while loading in order to get it run good. This have to be fixed in upcoming patches.

usb keyboard? what a weird bug. mine is at the back of my computer, i dont want to reach back there just to play a unicorning game.
i also have problems configuring my logitech wingman wireless controller. game has been a huge problem just to get to run so far. doesnt look like 2k even tested this game (or included activation keys with their product .. LOL).
A patch would make everything alright though ;)

Instead of plugging the keyboard out, you can use an USB/PS2 adapter.

Hi all, i've got the same lag in in-game menu and controller settings menu... I've the euro version of Nba 2k9. when i play a match, it runs to 75fps, and when i'm in the game menu, it falls to 8 fps..........
Any idea?? I play with a PS2 USB Controller, a USB Keybord.
Maybe We've got to wait for a patch....

if your bluetooth keyboard is connected to a bluetooth usb receiver it could still cause the problem

There needs to be a patch for this.
I have a nice wireless keyboard that uses a USB dongle, and I don't want to buy PS2 keyboard just to play this. There must be another work around; this is terrible.

I purchased the game yesterday, and the game takes about 20 minutes to load the menu: i hope that a patch will be released asap, or i'll be forced to bring the game back to the shop.
I'm very disappointed about this game. :(

I've actually found a "fix" for this issue, or rather stumbled upon it. I'm getting the same Menu Lag when the game first loads, and was using an ASUS P5Q Deluxe motherboard, P45 chipset, for a while until it began having SATA/IDE Controller issues. I went back to my 780i board, loaded up 2K9, and no Menu Lag! I've since installed a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R board, P45 Chipset, and the Menu Lag has returned. It may be related to Intel Chipsets, or Intel Chipsets with Nvidia Video Cards (I have a GTX 280), or just the fact that the Chipset is newer, who knows. It'd be nice if they'd patch it, but other than the Menu Lag at the very beginning the game runs flawlessly, and I LOVES IT! :-)

Can Anyone help me solve my lag on NBA 2k9 PC? My com is a vista and it is a laptop, thus not a wireless keyboard or anything else, it is just a keyboard on the laptop. My processor is Intel Pentium Dual-Core Inside anyway. Thanks in advance! :)
