I hate getting in stupid arguments, but my friend and I have an issue determining the better game between All Pro and 2K5. Now, his argument is that people say that 2K5 is the best football game out. I agree with that. Overall, it is the better football game, but he doesn't see my side that it is known that a lot of people prefer 2K5 because it is licensed and has a much bigger package overall. I'm only wanting to speak on gameplay. To me, 2K5 is full of faults and AI gaps that were corrected in All Pro. I use online play as my basis, but he says that shouldn't matter. Well, online play exposes the AI gaps in game engines. Because he never witnessed them, doesn't mean that they are not there. I think All Pro plays a better game of football overall. There are some faults, like the lack to control defensive players, but I think the QB sneaking and DL glitches in 2K5 are huge minuses for the game. I haven't witnessed a lot of holes in the All Pro engine. They both suffer from bad DB play, even though I think All Pro has a little more reliance on play calling. So, strictly based on the gameplay engine alone, which do you guys think provides a better and more realistic experience? Which engine seems to offer the least AI holes? My vote goes to All Pro on this.

Both games have pros and cons to them. But if the focus is on 'balanced', then it's got to be hands down APF2K8. The whole game is centered on providing a balanced experience, where as NFL2K5 is focused on providing a NFL experience.

Yeah. . .I couldn't put it any better. . . .
APF's customization is awesome, the animations, the unlimited playbooks, the physics, the feel. . .
NFL 2K5 has the ESPN presentation, the UNBELIEVABLY great franchise, custom sound tracks, gameplay. . .
toss up on this one. . .
They are about equal. . .

I loved that game, I used to shut down people with the ILB. He flew like a bat from hell!!! jaja
As far as 2K5 and All Pro. I really liked the online features in 2K5, the trading was great. My beloved right stick with finese HB...... god I think a tear is coming down. Shutting down people with my FS.
But overall I can give it to All pro. Play is more solid, it takes a lot more thinking this time around. You cant sit in cover 2 all game long you must change your D or you'll get burned. The only thing I would like back is my right stick for my HB!!!!

Great game, still have Fever 04 love the passing. I take APF over 2k5 for most of the reasons above.

I have a question, regardless of how good NFL 2K5 was, I mean even if you update rosters, don't you get tired of the same exact players with new names and the wrong faces?

What makes it any different than Madden? They are all technically no more "real" than the generic players in APF. Basically just player models that have ratings designed to perform like the real player. Updating 2K5 can make the game feel new and fresh. I wish I could find a file transfer kit to do so.

Minority here.
I voted before I read the post but the reason I'm saying 2K5 is because of the word balance in the thread title.
2K5 had offensive vs defensive balance. APF? Not so much.
I mean there are offensive players in this game that can literally destroy any defense regardless of make-up or scheme. Hell even the special teams aren't balanced. On kick offs you are pretty much assured the 30. Unless you have Barney, then there is a 50% chance he'll fumble.
Sure there were nightmare players in 2K5 but it seemed like it was a more common occurance to see the defense step up in 2K5. In APF its really common to see the D play like JV rejects.
Love and own both games though. And will play them until someone other than EA offers up something better. So I imagine I'll be playing them for a long, long time
